So I aked a question about how the USDGC could allow T-shirts and player's pack shirts (no collar) on players during the tourney. Now it seems the WHOLE THREAD has been deleted!!! What, the PDGA doesn't allow criticism? Where do I have to be in this organization to get that kind of protection? C'mon guys, this is JUST PLAIN WRONG!

Just like the 2m rule was suspended for USDGC, it looks like they might have been allowing shirts covered by a further clarification being made in the dress code which was discussed at the Summit meeting. I don't know for a fact the USDGC was following this, but there are several non polo style shirts that will be acceptable from what it sounds like. I doubt the thread was deleted since Conrad said several were lost in the database crash on Tuesday.

Oh right :o:o:o. Sorry.
To bring up my original point, I thought our collared rule was to present a better image to potential sponsors. Where else is that more necessary than our premier event? I disagree if this rule is going to be changed. Thanks for setting me straight.

It was apparent that the shirt policy can't/shouldn't be as simple as collared shirts. You would have thought we were at a designer's meeting at the Summit as the different types of fabrics and collars were discussed. The USGA for ball golf championships just requires players to be "neat in appearance in regards to clothing and personal grooming" with no shorts allowed in the Championship, just qualifiers (not sure about capri pants /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif) My suspicion is that the PDGA will come back to something more along these lines so our TDs don't need coaching from the ***** Eye guys.

dumb question: where in the PDGA rules does it state a dress code? I thought that I had seen it before, but when I went back to look at the online rulebook just now to see the actual wording, I can find it nowhere.

Nowhere. It is an NT regulation. If you go to the PDGA home page and click on the NT icon, you can find the NT regulation from there.

It's in the PDGA NT tour guide. Here's the Dress Code section:

Yeah, I guess Peoria was a little chaotic this year as I heard of Ams running to the local Salvation Army and picking up short-sleeved oxfords for 50 cent a piece! :D But the players meeting did look a lot better. I think a clear-cut rule is preferable to a rule providing for interpretation though, and "neat appearance" seems vague.
"It was a clean t-shirt."
Uh-oh.
Interesting problem. I was the starter at The Memorial a few years ago, when the collared shirt rule was first implemented. I know I loaned out at least 4-5 collared shirts as players (mostly fellow mullets) showed up not realizing the new rule. A few top players (McCoy maybe???, Randolph for sure) had nice sponsor-provided non-polo professional-looking shirts, and asked whether or not those were legal. Technically, they had a "collar", but it didn't really meet the intent of the rule (or did they???).
It's difficult to write a clear-cut rule, you want to try?
