So, anyone ever play Chabot Park in Hayward? I've played there a few times, but I'm still not sure how some of the hole are supposed to be played.
Hole 2) The map shows a pretty straight line, but to get a straight shot, you'd have to drive pretty far from the map. Is it supposed to be more of an Anhyzer (RHBH) approach?
Hole 3) There's pretty much a 90 degree bend around a tree on the path in this hole; yet if you look to your right through the shrubs you can see the pin. So do people play around or through?
Hole 4) Where do you start from? No map, no tee!
Hole 8) Down the path by the creek, is it kosher to go up and around to the right by the pins for hole 9.
Hole 9) This hole is only 106 feet long, straight out, with a ~10 ft elevation right below the pins; there must be players out there who ace this pretty frequently.

Haven't been there in a while, but the way we played it was:
Hole 2: tee from next to the pickinick table, back by the fence. Its a relatively short, straight shot (about 170'?) Got my first ace ever on it with a low bullet MRV.
Hole 3: very weird hole - its only 50' in front of you through the bush, but we played a manditory all the way around the tree/bushes to the left, making it quite hard to birdie.
Hole 4: walk down the hill from 3 pin to a tunnel shot (fairway runs behind the bathrooms). There is a big log laying across the fairway. I think there is a little room for a skip shot under it?
Hole 8: playing it manditory down the tunnel to the left makes it trickier, but most folks take the big Hyzer right. Seen more than 1 black ace there into 9 basket.
Hole 9: silliest hole in the state: 90' uphill - more like a long putt, but an ace is an ace! :D
The best way to play this course is safari style - just pick a spot to tee and a basket to go for. I'm sure some of the locals can show you a few dozen cooler holes than the standard 9. My favorite is to 4 basket from "The Kitchen" - go up the path past 3 basket, go past the smoke spot until you get to a concrete pad with no obvious fairway. A big hyzer (RHBH) up through the hole high right can get you there for a look at the basket.
I used to play there alot when I was still scared of losing all my plastic at Berkeley, which is a superior course, imho.
Your description of hole 2 makes more sense than the way the map describes it. The map is facing the complete wrong direction, the first time I played it I went to hole 3!
Hole 9 is silly, though to be fair, if you do miss low, and roll back down the hill it's likely to be a 3.
I asked a local tonight, and he said pretty much what you said... "make your own course". First time I played there the dude I was with had a shot from on top of the bathrooms (by pin 4) to pin 9. And from pin 9 to pin 5. I don't think any official shot there exceeds 400 feet.
Berkeley is much superior, I just don't feel comfortable there. There is so much open land in this area, with rolling hills, and wooded paths, up in Tilden, Joaquin Miller, and Henry Chabot, Knowland Park by the Zoo, etc. It seems like this is some prime territory for a really high quality disc course that could rival Dela or Stafford. Wonder what it would take to get something started? Kind of bums me out sometimes. At least Stafford is only 40 minutes with no traffic.

There you go... :D
Just keep playing Stafford and EVERYTHING will seem inferior... :o
All I need now is that approval for the Concrete Tees :D
Unfortunately, i actually barely ever make it out to Stafford. Traffic out to Novato in the afternoon/evening on weekdays is killer. Definitely gotta take more weekend trips, though.

Sure why not....I am sure that there will be casual play as well since we did not "Reserve" the Park.
That wont be a problem, since OUR players are sooooo nice.. :D
well i missed it; had to go down to santa cruz to visit the family, got to play de la, though!
are there weeklies at stafford?
