I'm going to be visiting Tahoe (near Incline Village) from the bay area this coming weekend, and I'm looking for advice on what course(s) to play.

I'm pretty much a rank beginner, so I'm interested in playing a course that has nice scenery, and is not too long of a drive, if possible. I'll probably only get the chance to visit one course while there, so if there is a "must play" course that is more of a drive, let me know.

Also, on the way back I'm hoping to leave early and try to hit a course on the way home. Is there anything not too far off Highway 80 that would be worth stopping for?

thanks a lot

The closest course to you will be Truckee, and while it's my least favorite course in the Tahoe area, it's still quite nice. Any other Tahoe course will be a bit of a drive. Your being a beginner, I would recommend Bijou. On your way back to SF, Auburn & Rocklin are both quite close to the 80 as well as being fairly beginner friendly.

Bijou community park is fun and usually you can find some pretty cool guys to catch a round with. Course maps by hole # 1.

Great, thanks a lot.

A couple follow up q's:

Between Auburn and Rocklin, which is more scenic? Which is less crowded?

Bijou sounds like the course for me, as a beginner, however, out of the other 3 (Truckee, Zephyr, Kirkwood), are any of them nice enough, scenery wise, that it would be easy to persuade a none d-golfer to come along for the walk? (Who knows, maybe I can sneak in an extra game) ;)

Thanks again.

Is Tonys playable? I have heard good things.
