Ok, now this is just strange...

I got home from work last night to discover a frisbee sitting on my lawn. I just assumed it was some kids toy frisbee... As I got close to it I thought it looked an awful lot like a golf disc. Turns out, it is! How strange is that? It's not like I live beside a course or anything, most people in Canada have never even heard of the game.

Not really sure what the disc is though. The top stamp is an oval and says: "Flying Discs For Competition" a strange looking Innova logo and "Champion Discs". On the bottom it just says Champion Discs and Patent Pending. Weird!!

I'd love to know where it came from, but more importantly what is it? It's a little soft, kinda like an aviar, but has a bit more of an edge to it.

I've had Wizards that I lost around the neighborhood ( I desighned a 9 hole course around the "hood") just randomly show up on the porch, and I even had one dropped off at my work!

Sounds like you've got a Patent Pending Aero. They call this stamp the "Football" stamp. Very nice.

What does it look like??? does it look like an Aero?? does it look like a driver/putter/mid??? you can usually put 2 and 2 together and figure out what disc is... if you've played with different discs of course... from etobicoke eh?? did you get out to Nationals in Kamloops, Elaine King destroyed the womens field.

Nice find though. ;)

I play with an avair, I've never actually seen an aero before, so I'm not quite sure how it differs. There is more of an edge to it than an aviar, somewhat roc like but smoother, no ridges or anything. It's got a pretty good dome going on so it must be a putter or mid. It's fairly soft too. Sounds like it's a good bet for an aero.

No nationals for me, hopefully I'll be playing my frist tournament this fall at the Bronte Creek Classic.

I still can't get over finding this disc on my lawn, any other house and it would probably wind up being a dog toy. Crazy!

It's got to be a Patent Pending Aero. I have a box full of them if any one is looking. Funny thing is their all weighted to the hundredth of a gram 170.23g

So what's the deal, is it old? Rare? I guess not too rare if you have a box full of em :D

They ARE old and rare. I wouldn't throw it if I were you, cause it's not the greatest disc, and you can get something similar that isn't so valuable!

Rare enough - probably dates from about 1983/84. Are the pat pending letters about 1/4" tall or so? Looks in pretty good shape too - pat pend aeros go for anywhere between $25 to $100+ on ebay. Used is a bit of a crap shoot on value. But this should be your friend for life - they were made virtually unbreakable - so a very durable straight flyer - with an easy slow fade built in. Put that baby in the bag!!!
