Lost my 176g z-Reaper last week. Forehand shot that I got too much snap on and it took off straight into the water. In the meantime a friend was nice enough to give me an X-Predator, but I'm thinking I need something REALLY overstable so the same thing doesn't happen again. Would like to stay with a durable plastic so it stays overstable. I'm thinking a Champion Monster, X-Xtreme, or a Whippet. Any suggestions on these or other highly overstable discs?

Z-Predator for longer shots, Z-Xtreme for shorter shots.

Z Predator if you want a disc that will go straight and then fade hard.

Z Xtra if you want a disc that will turn gradually it's whole flight.

Z Xtreme if you want to fade, NOW!

"E" Spirit!!

Back in the day, I used Predators and Reapors for their overstability, and I havn't lost a beat (Actually improved) with my "E" Spirit.

You must have read my mind. I was going to ask about the Spirit. I will be getting one this weekend as part of a player's pack along with an illusion and a wizard. Not sure what the plastic type will be. I may try to get a heavy one. Are they <spirit> comparable to a reaper then? Probably faster huh?

I'm assuming you're talking about the GDS Tour event in Shakopee. I was wondering what discs we were going to get. I assumed we'd be getting an Illusion and Wizard, but was hoping the third would be a Blaze or Demon. I'll probably see you there.

Yep, that's the tourney. I played league with the guy that's setting it up. Those are the discs he told me we would be getting, but I guess things could change.

The spirit is about twice as fast as a reaper! It's one of the fastest!!

Its also about 200 times more OVERSTABLE then a reaper :o

Sep 24 2004, 12:10 AM
Yeah no kidding! Bht they do get straight with time. It took me about a month to get it to where I could throw it 400'. I don't use it anymore, but it was fun while it lasted!

The spirit is dope...very stable

Brand new, they are probably like a 2.5 or 3 on Discrafts scale, but they break in nicely. And they are probably 3 times faster! Post when you get it, and I'll tell you about it.

I don't understand how anyone could think that the Reaper is an overstable driver. The one's I've thrown have all been pretty flippy, and I'm not a power thrower. I would compare them to the Valkyrie and Viking in terms of stability. That 2.5 rating tells you very little about the flight and suggests that the disc is similar to a Predator, and the discs are several gradients apart in terms of stability...Discraft's rating system is horrible!

My reaper had almost no dome at all (very flat top) and I assure you was very overstable. Maybe the 176 weight and z plastic factored in there, but I've seen others in Z that had more of a dome and were less stable. Never thrown a Viking or Valk, but my 172g DX beast is more flippy.

I have an X-predator now and my reaper was definitely more overstable. Maybe a big difference in runs?

Wow, that is interesting. I have a really domey Z-Reaper and it is brand new. It is the most understable disc I own. I was comparing it to a Z-Predator, which is the most overstable Discraft disc I've thrown next to the Z-Extreme.

Different Reaper = Different Stability
