Today, I went and play Penn Valley. On #5, I threw a roller right next to the pin, about 260+!
thats my new longest distance for a roller. I thought it was pretty cool. i also netted a 64 all around score...not so shabby.

anyway, share guys and gals!

A couple weekends ago at Flip City i got a duece on hole # 2 from the long pads. Its 502 feet long. The first 250 feet or wide open field then the next 250 are big trees with about a 10-15 ft ceiling. I threw a sky cut roller with my Tsunami to inside 30 ft and nailed the putt for duece :D

I pared this really long/hard hole that most local pros have only gotten once, if that.

Also, I pared the only hole I had yet to par at my local course.
(12 BB at Seymour in Omaha).

Its never been 2'ed and its only been 3'ed in a tourney like 4 times, and I'm one of those!

Also, I can throw 400' consistantly and pretty acuratly now.

In the last few months I have increased my distance from around 270' to 340' I still have some control issues, but am playing better all the time. I recently birdied a true par 5 at Plymouth Creek (something like 650' with a tight dogleg right, water on the left, and trees everywhere). Thanks to those here who have given me advice along the way.

birdied as in a 4? That hole is hard. I hate it.

Yeah i can throw far but im still learning how to spell :o

Tsunami is a Predator with more GLIDE. :D:D

My favorite disc by far right now. I can do anything with this thing :D

I have recently been able to break 60 consistently and have been APPROACHING par. I also finally can drive confidently on tunnel drives even if they go right. This used to be a shot where I would throw tomahawk just to keep it in the fairway but I can now throw a controlled low anhyzer (with an Xpress) and know it will do what I tell it.

Since hurting my BH throwing arm/motion on July 31, I've plateaued...no birdies, no bogeys, no pars either...no nuthin'.

I did go out and practice my forehand/sidearm again yesterday for the 2nd time (ever)...and sent my 1st run "Orange Crush" 360'! I had a helpful 20mph tailwind...

Sep 21 2004, 01:47 PM
Yeah, a 4. Crappy thing is I got double circle 11 on it during the championship tournament. Hit 4 trees in a row, threw the next one in the water, made one decent shot and threw another one in the water before putting out. Still working on consistency.

I finally parred my home course last week. I attributed my success to throwing 150 or so practice putts almost every day (**** rain) for the past few months. I noticed my drives have gotten a little weaker as a result. Never enough time in a day to work on it all.

Slo, to answer your question on another post - my discs are not checked for weight here as the course is on a military base. Thus, I don't fall under Japanese rules regarding that. It's nice because I've never been able to throw lighter discs effectively. It is way too windy here for such nonsense.

Sep 22 2004, 12:18 PM
Well I finally hit par. Did it at Woodland Chains in Collinsville IL from the reds. Shot a 28 on the front and a 26 on the back. I made a 125+ foot or so, over a hill, behind a big old tree, blind anhyzer upshot on hole 14 from the bottom of the gully (dang drive hit a tree) for birdie... I let it go and knew it was diving towards the basket but you can't see it at all where I was standing... as it dives out of sight I hear chains and my jaw dropped... one of the guys I was playing with said in a very monotone voice "that went in." I ran to the top of the hill to see my Wizard sitting in the basket.. Now if only I could hit shots like that on ace run holes. It is shots like those that make all them shank drives worth while!

Yaaaaah, 'deuce' is correct. :D

Just to get back on topic, a couple of weeks ago I threw a disc 330 feet for the first time. I know that's not too impressive to you 400+ guys, but I'm almost sixty and have only been playing for a year (although I first played in 1976). My previous longest throw was about 290 feet, so I was very happy to finally break 300!
Sadly, I have thus far been unable to repeat the breakthrough.
:p :(

Sep 22 2004, 09:53 PM
I'm just a rec. player, only about every other weekend will I be able to make it to the course once. Finally broke 60 the other day, and also broke 300 feet. I stink

Sep 22 2004, 11:14 PM
Very recreational player here...once, twice a month if I'm lucky...

Broke 70 on 18 holes from the short tees at Hoover, broke 100 for the full 27 there as well.

Personal best of 52 at Blendon Woods.

I've had an accidental 300 foot shot with a putter...

And I had $400 of doctor bills from tripping on a log at Great Seal in May...

Since I've only played in one tournament, help me out here.
Does a double-cicle 11 mean you threw 9 and were penalized 2
or does it mean you threw 11, but are going to get 2 more "strokes" for penalties?

Either way it hurts. :(

Sep 23 2004, 12:35 PM
Threw 9 with 2 penalties. Yeah it hurt, but you should see this hole. Supposedly the only true par 5 in the state.

I have been practicing with all of my discs after work at the local soccer field. Last night I drove my beast from end line to end line for the first time. That felt good.

Either an Orange Cam Todd Challeger or a Black Pro D challegner. Most likely the Black Pro D in 173-174 weight.

Its kind of hard to explain the style i am going to use. I would say its a modifyed push putt.

When i start out i have the disc about chest level and its on about this angle in my hand \ . Now mind you i am right handed so the disc is on a huge ANHYZER angle when i start out. I also start out pretty low to the ground with my knees bent. From there i just push off and up with my left leg and when i release the disc it is almost back to flat.

Thats the best way i can explain it. You would have to see it if you cant picture it right now :D

Sorry if that wasnt a good desrciption

Sep 28 2004, 03:37 PM
That's cool CB, wasn't trying to say you had to give a totally technical explanation... just like hearing what ever people have success with. Everyone wishes they had total confidence with their putting and the few that do are lucky. I think its cool that you putt with the disc almost reversed of mine... when I putt I am on my back foot with the disc low w/ a huge hyzer angle... I rock forward and with the motion I snap my arm up and the disc hits flat when I release it.

I just have trouble pushing my arm straight out with my palm facing down. Dont know what it is but this is how i putt at worlds when my putting was ON for 7 out of 9 rounds then i got away from it after worlds and now im back to putting pretty well again so im going to stick with this for the long run :D Now if i could just get within putting distance on my drives i would be fine

Sep 28 2004, 07:16 PM
I started playing two months ago and finally started driving over 400' consistently with either a Flash or a Beast.

Sep 28 2004, 08:57 PM
nailed a few nice putts the other day, but tried the exact same style from almost the same length on a few other holes one flew by a good 20 feet into some brush and the other didn't even make it far enough to hit the pole. So i gave up that style. :o

The plateau was mental, and has been a number 1 priority this season. The problem was missing short putts, then replaying them over and over, resulting in aggravation and frustration simmering to a boil that would ruin an entire game, or tournament.

From 7 paces and closer I have missed only one putt in the last three tournaments. I'm due to miss a close putt pretty soon, statistically speaking, so when it happens it won't be a big deal.

Hey Boro, what hole did you "par"?

I was injured and not throwing BH for 2 months to the day...until last Saturday. After researching injuries on this board I chose to integrate a bent-arm style into my reach-back. (Thanks Discette/Blake T.!!) WOW! I'm able to throw w/o pain...AND throw nearly as far...so far.

I believe there's untapped potential there...as I reached 370' on 3 consecutive throws yesterday. My previous best is 380'ish on flat ground with a straight reach-back. I'm feeling more comfortable and my aim is improving as well.

The straight reach-back delivers a 'mental line' to project the disc on...while the bent-arm feels waaaay different. Any suggestions as how to overcome this aspect of aiming??

One thing I heard from a pro that might help is to point your (bent) elbow at the target as you rotate into the throw.

Recently 2'd 435' #5 at Burnet's course with a big anhyzer over the O.B. baseball fields that flexed back into the green about 18' feet out. Nailed the putt. :)

(It was my second deuce there, but 1st w/ a legitimate birdie putt)

Sep 30 2004, 10:03 AM
I've recently achieved just about everything I wanted to for the summer (I started in April.) I'm throwing pretty consistantly in the mid 300's, I shot par for a round in a tournament, I've birdied all 9 holes on my home course, including the 400'er and I know what I need to do to sink a putt...even if I don't always do it. Now I just need to learn how to throw a midrange correctly and learn to throw a putter using the power grip and I'll be all set.
