My folks moved to Pinellas (near clearwater) last December, I'll be out there to visit in mid Oct.
Can anyone recomend good courses to play there? I hear there's a new one just down the road a bit?
Anyone know on what course I can lose 5 to the Champ ?
http://www.tbdsc.com has all the courses in the Pinellas area. Cliff Stephens is Ken's 'home' course but I personally didn't see him out there over the summer ;) Don't bother going to Northeast Coachman if it has rained in the past ~2 days as it will have either standing water or sticky mud on the fairways in most of the interior holes. Those are the only two courses I ever really played much when I'm over there, Taylor park is pretty but I don't particularly like their course and I've heard good things about Maximo in St. Pete.
They have Open Handicaps at Coachman and Cliff Stephens on sundays at 10 and 1:30(?) respectively.. costs 7 dollars to play I think. If you want more information than you could ever want stop by Gdisc (a couple miles east of Cliff Stephens). If you talk to Casey, tell him Derek says 'hi' :D
http://www.gdisc.com/pages/map.htm -- This has a lot of useful information.
Thanks!
Great info. Much appreciated.
If you ever get to Santa Cruz look me up.
