Me and about 5 buddys have decided to go out there next weekend. I have read that it needs some work! I was woundering if anyone had been out there lately? I was also woundering if there was anything that anyone really liked about the place. I also heard that there was solar lights so you could play at night! Has anyone played at night.

Go to www.twinparkscountryclub.com (http://www.twinparkscountryclub.com) and then call Park the owner and he will explain it all.
It is still a work in progress but things are happening. The clubhouse / pro shop is about 3 weeks from complete.
The cement tee boxes on the Hill get done next week.
The bottom Shire course was redesigned this week and is a few weeks away from cement tees.
Have fun and remember it has only been there less than 3 months. Just wait for the next 3 months.
Thanks

I was out there a few days ago. I wouldn't recomment playing night golf on the Park Hill course unless its well lit (I don't know if it is); the terrain is rocky, there are alot of trees, and foot and/or eye injury is a real possibility. I did see some solar lights by some baskets. How many of them there are, I don't know...I wasn't counting. The Park Hill course as it exists now is an exercise in throwing big high annies and hyzers. Not many holes have a clear shot from tee to basket. Not that that's a Real Bad thing......it will test your game and teach you patience and anger management, that's for sure.
It does have potential. :-)

I have been told both courses will be lite sometime soon. The best course to play at night will be the Park Shire course from the short tees. I also hear a new 9 Hole Corporate Course will be put in on top of the hill near the main house.
Again remember these courses have only been in the ground for a month or so. It takes a lot of work and time to clear 2 big courses in the hill country. I have been there and done that remember.
Call the number on the website and Park will explain the deal.
I hope to be out there next week and play the Park Hill course from start to finish. Just not in a 100 degree day this time.

Very true. As I remarked while playing the course the other day, its alot better to have a course with too many trees that you can, by smart trimming and clearing, develop into a great risk/reward course.....than to indiscrimanently start trimming and clearing, only to find out that you did too much and now its too easy. :D

they also have two pro that are going to be there next week.
I hope some of the locals show up and maybe we can have a game or two.
Just got back from playing the newly redisgned Park Shire course, and I have to say it is a major improvement for all that have been there before. Other than taking out original 3, which I thought was a great hole, I thought this course was much better designed.
There are now 3 sets of tees marked on each hole now. You now need to have a much more well rounded game to play out here. There are a lot more tees in play off the tee boxes, and much more defined fairways. The best of the original crushing holes were left. I think anyone who comes out now will be very pleased with the experience.
As Chris says, they're pouring one set of concrete tee pads for one course next week, and they thinking of doing both courses while they're at it.

will this be the jewel of centex in the future?
I think that hole, #13 right, was a nice hole. True par four. Three is definately possible, but would require two great shots and a putt. Can't wait until things are mowed. I definately will look forward to playing this course again. I did think I did pretty well throwing flicks and thumbers off of one leg though!! Playing golf with a pulled hamstring is not the brightest thing i've ever done. And the last three holes back up the hill were kind of brutal.
Old three was basically what is now 16 i guess, but backwards. Was about a 400 footer downhill. Playing back up that hill now makes it challenging and I definately like what is now 17, very nice hole there. Two of those holes that we discussed you put in pretty much exactly as we discussed them.

As some of you know I am spending a little time working at the new Twin Parks Country Club in Dripping Springs (25 minutes from Austin).
Things are coming along well despite the weather lately. There are now 18 concrete tees on Park Hill and the next sunny few days the 18 on the Parkshire course will be poured.
The 5200 square foot clubhouse has recovered from the rains to being back on target for a Christmas finish.
What many people don't know is we have also been building an incredible Mountain Bike Course. When it's complete it will measure around 5 miles long and already features some amazing jumps, curves etc.
That brings me to the topic...Sunday Mountain Biking.
This Sunday from 9am to 3pm come along, bring your bike and join some of the best riders around in testing what has been built so far. We will have a couple of micro brew kegs for everyone to share. Don't forget your disc bag also :D
Call me at 512-289-2299 if you need any help or go to www.twinparkscountryclub.com (http://www.twinparkscountryclub.com) for directions etc.
A brand new membership special is being announced Sunday so bring your checkbook...it will be worth it :)
See you all Sunday.

Dec 09 2004, 02:23 PM
Myself and others spent yesterday out at the TPCC and had a great day. The Shire course was a little more difficult teeing off around the tee pad forms, but sounds like that is fixed as of today. This course is fairly uneventful, but hole lengths and design is what you would appreciate from a solid, flat Texas course.
500 ft SideWinder rollers are a lot of fun :D
The Hill course has a lot to offer. Some great views, and cool tee shots. I almost pulled a 54 off on the Hill first time through which felt like that would have been very solid. This course alone will be worth the trip out there when it is all said and done. A beautiful property and the clubhouse is gonna rock!
Again, like all 100+ acre ranches, much work left to be done. And be careful, I'm still feeling the rock in my back after vaulting off one of the tee pads. Thought I was on the Mtn bike course The group held their breath until I started laughing and then it was all over.
Hole #9 on hill will be an awesome signature birdie hole, but needs that branch on tee pad removed. It is supposed to keep you in control and forces a low power shot, but the hole is so cool that even with it removed you are left to an accurate throw over the lagoon.
We really enjoyed the challenge of the hill and finished the round playing the last 550ft hole #18 with a rosey glow sunset off in the Hill Country and a nicely lit solar basket showing us the way.
Check it out, this place is going to be very cool!

Call Park on 512-796-3075 for pricing info. Tell him you know me :D
Directions are easy but you will need to call ahead to get the gate code.
From Austin:
Hwy 290 towards Dripping Springs
After you pass the Polo Club on your left get into the middle lane.
You will be turning left on Hay Country Acres Road. It is at the top of a small hill.
Follow the winding road for about 3/4 of a mile it then turns sharp left. Twin Parks is about 400 yards on your left. You will see the metal gate and stone wall (A sign is being made).
From SA or San Marcos area:
It is easier to go through Wimberley then Austin.
From the intersection on Hwy 12 and RR290 in Wimberley (Pizza Hut area) head north towards Dripping Springs.
Turn right on Hwy 290 heading towards Austin.
You will turn right on Hays Country Acres Road about 3 1/2 miles out. Then follow the directions above to the course.
I will be working out there all weekend so if you need anything and can't get a hold of Park call me at 512-289-2299.

All but those 2 holes now also have the short "Ace Tees" with cement.
The Championship cement tees will happen in the new year.
I will be looking after the Country Club from Thursday this week for about 10 days while Park is on vacation. In that time I will be getting all the dirt around the new cement tees smoothed out and looking good.
The Country Club is still slow but getting there. The lights are in, the painting is done and we are just waiting on the flooring. After that the landscaping will start. After that the fun with the inside decorating starts.

The tournament will now be flex entry from 4:00-7:00, shooting from the white tees. We have also added a skins option. Skins is $5 extra. The ace pot is at $500. Also, there will be a night mini as soon as the sun goes down (so the start time will change throughout the summer). Cost on that is $10 for all divisions.
