If there's any Phoenix golfers here, I'll be in town for the next two weeks for training starting Monday. So if you could make any suggestions as to what courses I should definately hit, as well as any weeklies or anything I would really appreciate it. I think I had heard that there was a 24 hour course with lights there? I'll be in Scottsdale about 3 miles from Vista Del Camino park, and if anybody wants to hook-up for a round please PM me, Thanks!!
Vista is the course to play, it's where all the locals hang out. Fountain Hills is definetly worth playing if you can find someone to go with (it's not well marked, and may have some holes closed due to ongoing construction/renovation).
For a unique desert course, check out Moeur Park (aka Papago). It's in Tempe, but only about 5 miles from Vista.
I'm not sure how current this is, but for leagues, I have:
Regular events:
Monday 4:30pm Conocido Blind Draw Doubles ($5)
Wednesday 4:30pm Conocido Handicap ($5)
Wednesday 4:30pm Emerald Handicap
Thursday 5:00pm Vista Handicap
Saturday 2:00pm Moeur Doubles (Papago)
Sunday 8:00am Vista Doubles
If you've got next weekend off, by all means make this (http://www.calendar.disqman.com/2004/Jerry/jerry10.pdf) tourament.
yeah go play vista if you want the local crack heads to run up a steal your discs and then go sell it at the local discgolf store  and if your disc goes in the water the locals will be happy to pull it out for you and sell it back to you  other then that vista is a great course if you want to play a course to remember then go play the fountain hills course :D
You gotta be kidding me...there's really degenerates out there that do this? If I see one ******* actually do this, I'm going to be kickin' some crackhead [*****]!!:mad:
Hey, thanks for the scoop JimG. That Garcia tournament sounds like a blast, but I'm not sure about getting Friday off :(. But the other weeklies, especially the Monday blind doubles, looks very do-able!
TFO, sorry you had a bad experience with kids stealing your discs. I've never had that happen to me there, though I have heard other stories about that; It does happen, but it's pretty rare. It's really not a bad park. In fact, it's far more likely that you'll have a jogger or roller-blader trying to be helpful and hand your disc back to you. In fact, with ASU close by, and the weather still quite warm, you should see some fantastic scenery there.
Yeah, throw it in the water, and you can pay one of the kids $1 to get it back. Sure beats going in yourself and risking a $75 trespassing ticket. Hell, $1 is worth it to not have to take my socks & shoes off. Just make sure you get it back right away or it'll end up at Play-It-Again.
Conocido is on the NW side of town. With traffic, you probably want to give yourself 45 minutes to an hour to get there. Give Lance a call to verify that the time is correct. He's listed as the contact in the course directory.
Go to the Jerry tournament if it's at all possible, you'll need camping gear. Unfortunately, I won't be there because my wife is expecting. If my cell phone worked there, I'd go. 4 hours should be enough time to make it back, right?

You have got to play Fountain Hills, the signature course of the Memorial. That is by far a great course and is worth the drive from Scottsdale, (Northeast from Scottsdale 30min. drive).
For a unique desert course, check out Moeur Park (aka Papago). It's in Tempe, but only about 5 miles from Vista.
This is another goodie. Bring Z or champion plastic that you don't care if it gets beat up.

TFO is probably talking about The Memorial this year.
I like Roller Del Camino. Great scenery, nice course. If you have a good roller game, you will love it. If you don't have a good roller game, you can develop one there in two weeks. That park really has a bunch of pretty much risk-free roller holes. By risk free, I mean maybe you have a 125-250 foot unobstructed upshot if something goes wrong, or maybe you pin it. :) If you are right handed and your roller doesn't flip, you do risk going in the water, though.
In fact, with ASU close by, and the weather still quite warm, you should see some fantastic scenery there.
It must be the northerner in me, but I think the weather for disc golf is pretty much perfect right around Christmas time. If I remember correctly, the highs normally range from the 50's to 70's. Highs in the 90's-100's are a bit above "quite warm" for me. ;)

Buffalo Ridge is a cool desert / mountain course. North part of Phoenix. VDC is great as well.
Hell, $1 is worth it to not have to take my socks & shoes off. Just make sure you get it back right away or it'll end up at Play-It-Again.
hey i'd pay more then a dollar for you to keep your shoes and socks on jim  :o
oh, but it's a "dry heat"... ;)

Definetly the Northerner in you. 90's are "warm" when you live in the desert.
Does anyone know when the disc scavenger/raker shows up at Vista to sell everyone back their plastic? I lost a couple in the poo-water on Sunday that went in deeper than I could retrieve...other than that I had a lot of fun playing that course. It is a little weird playing in a big field of lush, green grass in the middle of the desert though... :D
