Hello.
The 14th Annual FaultLine Classic has acquired sponsorship funding.
Much thanks to Rob & Elaine Harding at Santa Cruz Disc, and to the wonderful people at DGA who are always there for us!
The 2004 Faultline will move back to it's orginal position, the first weekend of October. That is the 2nd & 3rd this year.
This yeras Faultline will scale back the player package some what while still offering excallent amenities, and more added cash. *also Entery fee's have been rolled back to $100 even. *Must be PDGA current.
Planned for the players package this year will be:
Lunch on Saturday compliments of DDGC & The Faultline. We are aslo working on some very high end yardage guides like the ones you see at Ball Golf courses. All other monies will go into the prize pool. We hope to have Odwalla return with some juice, and Tec-Nu with some Poison Oak relief.
The FaultLine does not offer amatuere divisions
:D Sorry, and doubles as the California State Open Championships.
You can get a flyer from the NorCal site here: http://www.norcalseries.com/schedule.html
We look forward to seeing you all again at this Premire event. We hope as many of you NT players as possible will make time in your busy scheduale to come and see us.
I will be shooting pictures for DGWN with a new high end Cannon Digital Rebel.
If there are traveling NT players who need a place to stay, please email me @
[email protected] and we can work on arrangements for you.
Kenny, Barry, Ron, Brian, Brain & Billy I hope y'all will at least think about it. We look forward to seeing the Lissamans, (congrats on hall of fame!).
Love & Peace to all and Crazy John Brooks wherever you are!
John Steele 14982
Classic, that's "classic" only I could screw up a header...
:o

I don't see a lot of ball/stick courses; do yardage guides go on the course and measure distance from the pin? Or do you mean a 1,2,5,10-meter measuring devise?
mori, since you're shooting the event, how to you feel about fielding requests for shots [for websites] of our clubmembers who might make it up there?
Have a great event/Championship!
Yo.
It would be a pleasure. Visiting players are what make the event great! I'm sure we'll se a lot of the Socal boys. Rico(s), Dorius, Jarvis, Brophy, my favorite (Sandoval) and many more. They always give us a great run. I can drop you a CD of what I shoot. Get them back to who ever you can to give to their moms and friends. :D
A yardage guide is like one of those 3x5 spiral note books. Each page has a map of a hole on the course. Typically including a total distance to the pin, and some interim distances so you can get an idea of how long each hole is from the tee or midway along the fairwaqy. (most ball golf holes are not tee to pin type holes) So say you drive 250, you want to know how much further it is from the nearest sprinkler head to the green.
Some of them include an area to make notes on each hole. They could include sponsors too ; ) So, for example, you could come up a day early, get a guide, and make some notes about how the holes play. We hope to include a angel of green gauge
:cool:they are most helpful for traveling players who are not as familiar with the course.
I heard that guides were done some where on the NT last year, I want to say KC? Anyway, it sounded like a good idea and a lot of tour players said it was one of the coolest and most useful things they got on out there on the road.
Guides are very expensive. It turns out not only for ball golf, but for disc golf. We have the talent and the tools to do the most intensive part, which is design and layout, all pro-bono. (guides will be revamped and scaled from my orignal tee maps at Dela) Printing and binding is still a bit costly and that is what we're looking for help with. If you konw any one please let me know.
JS
That would been keen about the CD; I'll see who I know is heading up/back...thanks also, now I know what you mean about guides; I have one from Golden State this year, with the area for notes above, spiral-bound, etc. It's a classy touch. ;)
Dan Duron said he'd be glad to; so if either of you know the other, were set! :D
??
I know Dan. Good guy, SoCal yes? He can help with guides? Can you get me his email by chance?
I'll check members as well.
Thanks!
Ug. Help.
I can not remember how to dig an email out of this site?
Can some one please get me contact info for Dan Duron 11317.
Thanks!
JS
...if it's OK to give him your contact, moriarti, then problem solved. :)
...I think there's a way to do that contact 'thing' through the board, but don't ask me; also the other party might not be enabled, etc.
Wish I could be there.
HEY RAFFL!

Today in the PDGA, "Open" means "not restricted by age". In a very strange twist of the English language, the PDGA currently use the term "Professional" to indicate a Professional division. I know it's hard to follow, Magilla. :)
So MPO means "Male Professional Open" and FPO means "Female Professional Open". As opposed to MPM/FPM, which mean "Male/Female Professional Master".
"Professional" means a professional division. "Open" means not age restricted. At least that's how it is defined now and for since before at least 1998. :)
Interestingly, MA1 means "Male Advanced Open". Believe it! :) It was easier to see when it was called M1O a couple of years ago. Open means not age restricted, as opposed to MM1 which is Advanced Masters.
Your welcome for your divisional structure lesson. :)
Now back to the California State Professional Championships tournament thread. You really should pimp that state championships part of your tourney so people know what the stakes are.

I want to apologize for hijacking this thread. :)
Magilla, start at the Rules Q&A page, "Rule Question: Divisions available to women."
In there it states the following:
"There is also some confusion between the terms "Open" and "Pro" when applied to divisions. "Open" simply means "without age restrictions". "Pro" is a skill designation and also implies that money is at stake."
Right on! :cool:Is there a pre-reg list anywhere to be found?

MY response of "True Am" was a reaction to an idiotic post from the get go....
Rhett, You know darn well that the Faultine is a "Pro" only event. Heck Ive had to explain the "State Championships" thing to you EVERY year since youve been "involved"
There was NO reason for you to interject on the subject other than to push someones buttons. Ill admit mine are AWFULLY BIG now days, but then if ANYONE else in this state had the responsibiltys that I carry as far as "DiscGolf" goes, they might understand.....
The repeated defending of the "NorCal Series" and the events that it has is rediculous and should be unnecessary, especially by the individual who should be considered my "equal counterpart" from SoCal.
Pardon me if I didnt use the "proper" terms when speaking of Ams and Pros, But there once was a day when you were either Am or Open, go figure :p
Those of us who have been around awhile, know the difference :o

Pterodactyl, you forgot that Rhett must constantly go out of his way to make himself as irritating to as many people as possible?
I'm guessing that in his mind he thinks he's very smart, and that his constant need to make nit-pick corrections to things we already understand is impressive to some one? Perhaps his wife & kids as everyone else I know wishes he would stop, so we could try and get along and help each other. Obviously, this part is lost on him.
None the less thanks To Magilla for coming to the defense of what was my error.
Let me state it this way.
The FaultLine offers no Amateur divisions and .has been this way for 13 years.
Those AMs with dignity, and who can show a little respect, are very welcome to come and help, watch, or play in the Open division to see how they fair. It's a great forum to test your skills in the Pro division without AM distraction. Assuming that you plan on having the cajones to go Pro some day. If you win money, you can either A) take it and go Pro or B) decline the money and continue to sandbag.
So what's the difference between me & you?
I'd rather give my money to them (Open) than take it form you" (Am) I have more respect for those that eventually play Open, and I would like to support them in their ambitions. As opposed to supporting a certain kind of behavior that most people equate with Chicken Guano :D
You have alot of nerve taking pot-shots at the Faultline when your whole series is a joke. :o
Maybe if you were nicer, you would get more support?

I'm rather enjoying this!!!! :D:p ;) :D  /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif :)
Hi Steve.
I have a pretty good idea.
I'll tell you the same thing I told Rhett. I like Am players just fine. A lot fo my best friends, and all of the people on my destop picture I look at every day who finished the 24 hour challenge play Am.
What I don't feel compelled to do is entertain Am players who are continually disresepectful to thier fellow golfers. (you missed the other thread(s))
If that makes them unhappy, then we're balanced, as they make me unhappy.
Rhett has a long hstory of making very sarcastic remarks about SC events, even though he never plays them. I guess I should know better than to react, but I find it annoying, and hope that one day he will stop and we can work ina positive mode. (I have sent him private examples on how we can do this on more than one occasion) Until then he will make cracks, and from time to time I'll fire back.
My appologies Kenny, I didn't mean to put words in your mouth.
Oh yes, as to the "eventually play Open" thing.
I should explain and apologize. It's complex, and I do not mean to be insensitive to long running Am players in general. If you play recreationally, and tournaments for kicks once in a while I think that's great. Support the PDGA and have fun.
But, every club or course has at least one of those guys with a very low PDGA number who comes to every event, knows that they have the skills and experience to play Open, win lose or tie, but they continue to hide out in the Am division where they feel safe to cash. (On top they bad mouth Open?)
These people take away from the Am experience by not giving the true Ams a chance to compete and perhaps win with their actual peers. They take away from the Open experience by not growing the pool so that the payout runs deeper, which encourages more people to play Open, and the WHOLE SPORT GROWS. Imagine what would happen if the top 25 Am players from each region stepped forward each year? The Open pool would equal the Am pool, or at least not be entirely dwarfed. Especially for the Women.
(This is the biggest tragedy) How many times have you seen some one come up and dominate in AM, but when they get bumped they quit? It's there choice for sure, but I wish they would move up and grow the sport when they have the skills to do it.
It's not that it's like I hate these people. I really dont have the energy for all that, not even Rhett ; ) Like I say, I know a few of them  and even call them friends. But I do have a little less respect for them and I tease them about it all the time. Its not like they dont know what theyre doing? I'm sorry if that seems insensitive, but in my own warped mind, it's for the greater good.

With much regret and sorrow I will not be attending the Faultline this year. I have something more meaningful(personally) to do. And that is attending TC Bare's farewell bash this Saturday @ New Hogan Dam's new Fiddleneck course.
With TC moving to Spokane real soon, I hope all of you golfers that know TC can give him a call and wish him well as there is no telling when you will see him again.
So if you aren't playing the Faultline this weekend, come on out to Valley Springs and party with the Delta Windjammers, a club that TC started in Stockton.
Please tell Rob Harding that I am bummed that I don't get to take him down on his own course! :D
Good luck and success to all Faultline participants. It is always a GREAT tourney.
Thank you Steve.
We'll miss you this year you Kenny Lee !
Never mind Rob, you've got me to worry about next year
A fond Farewell to TC Bare. You will be missed more than can be expressed here in simple words.
Thanks for the amazing amount of work and support you put into NorCal disc Golf. It trully would not be what it is without you.
You leave us with a fine foundation and one of the best examples of sprotsmanship and "most fun wins" imagineable. We'll try to live to that in your honor. And we hope that you will come vist us some day soon. (By the way we will ALL be {196 of us} crashing on your floor next year at Ft. Steilacoom)
For those of you who will be attending TCs bash in lieu of the FaultlIne we understand and will miss you. For all of us who will be here in SC please wish TC a fond farewell and know that we will be thinking of you.

Happy with a +9 eh John?
Hey Bird.
9? is that all ? I had a 9 one one hole?
All I know is a I started pretty well on hole 5 first round. I was even to the Lot, then I got a little shakey, not bad, but nervous.
I can not resist going for 27 ... most weekdays I have a putt.
But I went OB over 25 in the wind. Played a 2 finger skip up th road, caught an edged and did not come back in? Tried it again, came in, rolled out, and my FaultLine was over jyst like that.... weeeeee I had a great time though. Played with some of the coolest people ever from Las Vegas.
Carrey Trotter and Shane Thurman you guys rock! Sure wish I could get to Vegas this year.

Great Time as always..though I just seem to get worse every time I go there
Once again after 12 years of playing events I have found yet ANOTHER cavern that I had not yet been in.
This one is behind the basket of #23. Honestly, I dont know how Ive escaped that one before but it proves once again that its much better to stay in the fairways at DeLa :D
My scores might have been a bit better had I actually put some of the putts in the basket, but then I couldnt use work and lack of practice as an excuse ;)
My favorite part of the whole weekend is when everyone leaves the Park for the night. Staying in the PArk and playing "Security" sure makes for some peaceful glow rounds late nite :D

TC's party went splendidly!!
About 30 people(including Mr. Neal) showed up on a typical calm and hot CA morning in the foothills. The back nine was set up (newly raked tee pads and portables) in a couple hours with the help of TC, Sal, Distractor, Craig, Monty, and myself to go along with the permanent front 9.
Windjammers, Motown Chain Reactionaries and UFOs were present for the opening ceremonies. There were no great speeches or ribbon-cutting ceremonies, just a down-home collection of misfits putting it all together for an awesome weekly.
We played singles the first round and Jeremy Cole from Modesto took medalist honors and the course record with a sweet -9 due to some excellent side-arm accuracy.
I shot a pretty good -6 for an easy 2nd place finish. Most of the scores were around even.
We played doubles for the second round and a -9 won that, making Jeremy's score look really solid. Of course, people were getting really inebriated and the climbing/heat got to a lot of people.
We got a lot of good feedback on the course and will be able to alter it for any kind of competition.
We have room enough for 50 courses out there! I would love to design the other 18 for the NORCAL Championships in 2005!!!
There was a Ranger from Melones Dam out there and he would love to have a course at his park too! It doesn't look like it will take any convincing to put a course in there as well. Courses are starting to move south along the foothills. That's good for me! I eventually want to put in a course on the way to Yosemite!!
TC had a great time and took a lot of pictures. We will miss that dude, seriously.
