Big D in the Desert VI will crown the next World Flying Disc Federation
World Champion for Distance. If you want that title, you need to bring your A game."

Too bad: :(
It conflicts with the SoCal Champs, and the U.S. Women's Champs.

What the hell is a meter?

Am I wrong or is the U.S. still using yards and inches? Why is this competition in meters...because most of the world is using meters?? Just wondering. In the south we use cat tails. As in...**** son...that disc flew about 200 cat tails. (400 ft) ;)

If you want to spell with correct English it is "Metre".

Dont forget that because WFDF is now covered by the US & International Anti-Doping Agencies.

If you..
1) Win your division

or

2) Set a World Record

You MAY be asked to Pee-Pee in a cup :o

Better lay off the Anti-Histamines :D

That's really unfortunate that this event conflicts with the SoCal championships. I am going to take it as a compliment that they don't want throwers from SoCal showing up.

Bring what? and where?

ryangwillim
Sep 21 2004, 02:27 PM
The problem with that is that we have jobs and stuff. Mondays are not good, especially all the way over in Nevada. And a lot of us are taking friday off so we can get up to Lama in time.

If anyone wants to come down and throw at sea level here in San Diego I'd be happy to shoot off some distance for at $10 bet or something, though.

Or maybe next year Bid D won't conflict with SoCal Championships, who knows?

Well, let's keep our fingers crossed! This is purely speculative...I'm guessing the reason for the confliction is to accomodate the international "big guns" whom plan to be there.

Joel Hall says he has hit 640' out in the desert...highly unofficial, but he's just one guy missing out because of, etc.

I am hitting circa 530' at sea level with no wind. I was really hoping to get up to the desert with the elevation and the +15mph winds to see what will happen, not this year though, golf takes priority over distance.

Ok, I will check out a few fields and see what has the least traffic and flattest surface. What day in dec. are you thinking you want throw?
We can also discuss a format. Like how many throws we each get etc.
I'll try to get a couple other guys from down here to enter into this too. I have a couple friends who can throw just as far, if not farther than me.

P.S. Steve, thanks for the props :)

If this isn't just a 'grudge' match, and y'all are going to allow-in others, consider inviting Eldo Nio. I saw him throw a Spider 385' through a 'tunnel' last week; he says he's hit 640' [with a blade] "out in the desert" [but not BDD, per se].

...did anybody get to try those new discs Reese promised he'd let people huck? I forgot about that; I thought he meant @ Lama, not out at the WFDF event. He describes them as "stable".
They seemed quite low profile, and had a slightly grainy surface.
[props to Ryan for showing me how to format "Nio"] :D

No Grudge, everyone is invited. I will start organizing stuff and put out the info as I gather it.

I just look at it as another thing to do when We visit SD.

Heck for 8 matches of 12 holes I rarly have to break out anything but a Roc, so a change would be nice..... :p

Ill be in town either thursday or friday which would be the 2nd or 3rd of Dec..

Format should be regulation?? 5 discs over 7 mins time?? Im sure someone will correct me, if I dont get the chance to correct myself first :D

I know PLENTY of people who can throw further than I, and 2 or 3 live is the SD area for sure.......BUT I aint askeerd :D

...nothing on the DTWorld.com site...yet.
...too bad it had to conflict w/SoCal Champs--I think that was due to accomodating the international talent--if Rhett or Steve had been able to make it, we'd be enjoying the results yesterday! :o:D

Ok, I'll correct you ;)

WFDF regulations:
5 discs over 2min 30s, may be increased to 4 minutes in the final rounds. Maximum 3 sets of 5 discs per player and day.

There you go.....I should have known that one...7 mins sure seemed long...I have not done an Overall since the last Indian Summer at SSU :D

So there it is....5 discs over a 2 min 30 sec. time period :D

Alot of people can throw far, BUT can you make 1 of 5 discs be the one that matters /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif :D

Ryan, please try and remember to send me a PM if/when you get some details; I know Eldo Nio is interested [but he doesn't drive an auto, yet; that could be a snag]; I'd like to spectate/help if possible.

...boy, I'm sure glad they allow competitors to use 'extra' discs; doing the math, I don't think I could run 251 meters out/back four cycles in that amount of time, chasing Joel's favorite disc! :D

Tim Cohn threw a red 164g Champ Orc 209m...2nd was Chris Max Voight with a throw of 195m. A 15mph tailwind was reported.
The first post on this thread has the link to the results...

Wow!!

It took:
7 guys 3 days to throw 42 shots!

Sounds like a big waste of time unless there were other events that weren't covered in the "full results".
