Just wondering what driver you guys throw that it seems no one throws anymore...
What, with all the new distance drivers that come out each month or two, seems like the good ol reliable drivers get phased out...
I personally feel the Eagle is one the more underrated drivers from Innova. I have a CE Eagle that I got very cheap, and for some reason it's alot more stable than a dx.
I use it for headwind drives, and throw it exactly like I do my Teebird. I hold a very straight line into headwind, and is even a great sidearm driver. It's a nice happy medium between a Firebird and Teebird, atleast for me. Funny thing is, I never see people throw them.
For me it's an XL. Excellent glide and pretty much holds whatever line I put it on. Not a max D driver, but a very very controllable one...

Good backhand roller disc, as well.

Two words......actually, one letter, and one word.....
X-Predator
Shhhhhh...don't tell anyone. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Thats easy...
X-Predator
X-Talon
I won't say why...wouldn't want anyone else throwing them! :D

I would say the most underated mid-range driver would be the hawk. This disc is super-straight and perfect for wooded holes. It fades a little to the left and then barely comes back right for a slight helix.
I would say the most underated distance driver is the talon, just like a faster teebird that is just as straight. I have no clue as to why Discraft made it a 2<- stability rating, this is a straight disc!
X- Predator too...
this disc can fly and fight the wind. Great for huge swooping hyzers, it will never leave my bag until there is something that does the same thing except more efficiently.

Discraft Predator - Super fast, super controlable, super long! You wont believe what a beat X pred can do!! But don't try it...we don't want other people actually using these...go play with your ORC.

The Z Talon is an awesome driver. The old School CE and Opaque Q JLS's are very Dangerfield like as well. They are great controll drives that age into awesome rollers.

The Z Talon is an awesome driver.
It is, yet...
The X-Talon isn't quite as overstable (actually helix's), has more glide and can be slightly beat in, in an easier way than the Z. Again, a better all around teebird that is a great 400' driver for straight shots...

Ditto on the Q-JLS and the X-Pred. They fit in nicely with my T'Birds and Firebirds!

Doesn't the X-Predator do the same thing as a Firebird?
Another underated dsic is the Z-Predator, great for extreme wind conditions and short cut hyzers. Great for hyzering around trees... :D

For me, the X-Pred has a unique combination of glide...and overstability (for head winds). It is a longer disc than a F'Bird...for me. If I had enough of them, they "might" be able to replace my heavy 11x T'Birds. The super light 11x T's, ie 162g and below, are very underrated as well. Too bad the X-Preds don't go that light...

its funny how many people are sayn all these discraft discs are so great... i think discraft has the absolute WORST drivers you can get.. the most underrated driver would have to be the Viking. mot many people use them but they are a great predictable drive to use in almost any wind.

I'll second that Viking holla...
However, Discraft makes excellent discs!! I'd say Z plastic is the best long term plastic on the market.

Who cares what you think overall. That last sentence of your post is the only thing that matters on this thread. Thanks for the advice about the Viking.

Viking is a good disc...
Yet, Discraft is all I use, not that I hate Innova. Innova makes good discs they just aren't as consistent as Discraft. Just read the dx vs. champion leopard thread. They are like opposites!!! All in all discraft is a good company and is an underated company by most disc golfers

Cyclone in the old cyclone plastic, or even in elite plastic.

Well it sold like crazy when it was made. It was a totally revolutionary disc and its still great today. 10 years ago, you'd having a hard time finding someone without one, but now you'd have a hard time finding someone with one! Its alot like the DX Eagle, although the plastic is nicer. I haven't thrown the X, D, or Z Cyclone, but the old 'cyclone" plastic is what started the whole high end plastic craze!
Its not that people don't throw it now..they never did. The Blaze is very reliable, and super predictable.
The Lightning F-2 Flyer goes perfectly straight with NO fade. Also, the Gateway Sabre goes a long way with only a little fade.

From what I'm hearing all Gateway discs are underrated. A lot of people on these boards seem to really enjoy them but they just haven't fully caught on and become as popular as their Discraft or Innova counterparts.

Are you talking about the Cyclone? If so, then you're on glue! There was a time in the mid 90's that everyone had a Cyclone in their bag. It was revolutionary. You can thank the Cyclone for some of your favorite drivers of today.

Dave, you are on glue if you are talking about Cyclones! Just ask Mr. Bill how many he has sold. It was the bomb.
Couldn't hardly keep them in stock in the old club disc box for several years. Still a user friendly driver.
As for underrated discs, I still use a Polaris LS and DX Eagles. The Polaris is a great straight disc for me and the DX Eagle holds a great helix line or a predicatable fade for me. Both are easy to come by, too.

What's with the glue comments? Is it something i need to try? :D

I think O.J. is an underrated driver. Did you see that footage of him flyin' down the freeway. That guy can really drive.

X-Predators are definitely underated. They get better after they break in. I throw them over my T-Birds anymore.
I prefer the old Pro Line Monsters over the Z-Preds though.

Leopards used to be underrated...until Barry Schultz talked them up on PDGA radio :D Still a great disc overlooked by players of all skill levels.

I totally agree. If they stopped making the Champion Banshee it would probably take 3 different discs to do everything that it does for me.
I would have to go with the QJLS on this one. I dont know of many people that throw them. I love the hell out of mine. Out of all the drivers I have I use my QJSL on almost 8 or 9 out of every 10 drives. Hold a true line, glides forever and ever, and probably the most controllable driver I have ever thrown to boot.

Most definitely the TL. Everyone is ranting and raving over the new wind rimmed this and the accuracy of that but the TL is perfection. Very little fade, dead straight, lots of glide, easily better than the teebirds i've tried. I absolutely love them.
