I am wanting to get some feedback from everyone about your sober vs. drinking skills on the course. Please select one from the following:

You should expand this to include other treats of choice that alter soberness.
Depends upon the course. At the Grange, I play best slightly buzzed, but have the most fun trashed out of my mind!!!

Gee Danny, I play best when I'm sober and on a card with three drunks. :p

First and foremost, why was thread created under "PDGA Topics?" What does it have to do with the PDGA?
Second of all, this thread is pointless. What will the results really tell you? What are you going to do with the data?
Lastly, is this something we would want potential sponsors to see? What if they came on this board and saw this thread?
I think this should be deleted immediately.

Oh my. Take a chill pill. Sorry if you feel that I put this in the wrong forum. I had a conversation with a friend and he wanted me to post that to get a feel for what the disc golf masses thought.
I was completely serious and didn't mean it as a joke at all.

I do not think drinking is as much of an issue as smoking cigerettes, as long as the drunk does not effect other's play who cares . well other than the PDGA trying to Be our Mommies. /msgboard/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

What is up Danny...this is actually a legitimate topic. Many people drink when they play golf, let's not forget this IS a recreational sport and some people do play it for fun.
It might have been safer to start this thread under Miscellaneous.

That is probably true. My bad.
The conversation started because the guy I was talking to always plays a lot better when he is drunk. I can see a lot of people's points on how it has a negative effect on your hand-eye coordination and motor skills but for some people it has very positive effects on your confidence level.

Man there is a local guy here that can play some SAWWWLTY golf when he is getting throttled...during a night tournament at a world class course he once shot -12  He's not a drunk by any means, but he plays well when he is boozed up a bit.
K-Roc you might know who i'm talkin about...

Are you serious? I have never acted a fool after too many cigerettes. I think the same reason beer is legal is the same reason people support the alcohlol thing. ADDICTS, that make the descions. Thats what I think, bash away!!

Drinking and PLAYING sports does not mix well.
Drinking and playing mix quite well. Drinking and competing in a sport requiring motor coordination doesn't. Ultra-conservatist (dogmatic, anyway) idealogy in a free society however, don't mix at all.
space76
Jul 27 2004, 04:05 PM
Disc golf takes motor skills!! How about I play you for 100 bucks after you drink a 12-pack of heiney. I will even buy the beer. Ultra-conservatist (dogmatic, anyway) is one thing I am certainly not. I have many problems with alcohol even being legal. The only DRUG society has decided to accept.

He is all talk. I told him I would play him on his home course with 3 non-Innova discs (since he was bashing Discraft) and we could play for $20 or $100. Surprisingly, I got no reply. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
I haven't done enough test runs to give a definate response. I normally avoid drinking before doing anything remotely athletic and I've only played once after drinking and that was only two beers at dinner...and it was one of the best rounds I've played. ;)

Hey Kid,
Why don't you go ahead and create a "Disc golf and smoking" poll with the following:
I am wanting to get some feedback from everyone about your sober vs. smoking skills on the course. Please select one from the following:
When do you generally play your best?
You may choose only one
- Sober
- Lightly buzzed
- Good buzz
- Stoned
- So stoned you get the munchies after making the 50 ft. putts

I dont really understand why I should. I was just wanting some research and I got it. Came out about how I figured.
Question for you all that say you play better drunk. Are you really playing better or are you just forgetting to count some of your throws, taking lots of mulligans, etc?
question is are you getting better each round,. I feel I have had good throws while drinking, but know I can become a more consistant person and golfer if I save the beer to reflect the round when I am done, and made it home. You can't as much smell a beer with out failing b.a.l. test
make sure you take a cab home kid /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

2. I will drink 6 beers during the round.
3. I will play with only 6 discs.
4. You can choose from 3 courses. Veteran's longs, Z-Boaz longs, or Crowley reds.
5. $50 bet

**** dude - I had no clue you were that young when we were playing cards :)
BTW - I play better sober in general, but if I am all stressed out, sometimes I can really turn it on with a valk and a putter... No side bets from me unless you want to play Glow Moffitt from the shorts while blistered - I'll tear you a new one there (I always play glow golf better drunk :D)
Drinking and golfing isnt bad, I call it "putting fluid", lol
