I already read which putters you guys hate...
Let's see about the drivers,
So, which drivers do you hate:
1. Dragon - maybe if it came in 175 i'd like it
2. Reaper - UNPREDICTABLE, hyzers in the wind :D
3. Condor and Zephyr - Too big :D
4. Storm - No use in bag
oh soo many drivers, so few i like
1. Aerobie Epic- look at it
2. Wildcat- too flippy
3. Monster- waaay to stable
i only carry four drivers a two Valks, a Beast, and Leopard
Well of all the drivers I have and have used, Im gonna go against the grain, and catch hell from a lot of folks here, but I do not like my T-birds, and they just collect dust.
I officially hate....
valks
epics
beasts

I've heard you can only truly hate that which you once loved...so I'm gonna have to say the Z Crush. It has produced some of my longest throws, however I'm never quite sure what's going to happen when I throw it unless there is absolutely no wind. In zero wind conditions I have a hard time descriminating it from my Orcs, but when a little breeze is blowing it will turn into the ground, where my Orcs will flip and come back enough to stay in the air.

can't stand Z-Crush although I keep it in my bag as a hammer disc
i also don't like valks too flippy and unpredictable
I cant think of a driver from discraft that ive ever liked. i try to get discs that are suppose to be the equivilent to some of innovas drivers, such as Orc=Flash, or Wildcat=Valk, or Talon=TeeBird, and i cant find anything that discraft makes that is even close to innovas drivers. the only thing discraft makes thats good in my opinion is the challenger, and i guess i kinda like the Buzz. Other than that though :p

Innova only makes 5 Good Discs. Firebird, T Bird, Roc, Rhyno and Aviar. I really hate the Epic and ANY gateway driver. :D
Optimizer
Monster
these are the only two that seem totally worthless to me, also how in the hell did the condor make this list, I thought we were talking about drivers not trash-can lids!
Wizdumb - I'm in your club. I don't know what the deal is, but I have never gotten one decent throw with a T-bird.

Sure. Forehand, it goes right.
I don't like the JLS. Sweet flight, but the plastic is about as resilient as cheese. Even DX doesn't lose massive chunks every time it hits something.
Drivers I HATE (they may work for you)
Crush
Beast
Orc
Flash
I've easily thrown a dozen different Crushes and Beasts and they are all extremely inconsistant and unpredictable. The Orcs and Flashes are the same way, just longer. I HATE them. The ONLY wide-rimmed discs I like right now are Speed Demons and Spirits, because I know exactly what its going to do when it leaves my hand. (no, they don't instantly fade)
The reason I don't hate the Epic is because the tomohawk is sooooo cool!!

You can't be serious. It's not that they are supposed to be just like innova drivers, it's that they have flight characteristics similar to those innova drivers. I just find it hard to believe that if Discraft offered you some sort of sponsorship that you'd say NO.

I threw a Crush for a while and hated it.
I threw an Orc for a while and it flew different for me a lot of times. Far, but everyone I had flew different than the others. Even new.
slow ones, the ones that cut me off, the ones all by their lonesome in a huge v-8 suv in rush hour traffic, every single one in Mass--there's a reason they're called Massholes. Every single driver in Issaquah, Wa. can go to HEdoublehockeysticks. I also hate beasts.
Im gonna have to go with the Beast. it is wayyy to unpredictablie and flippy.

If the Speed Demon were rated using Innova's newest system it would be something like this:
Speed: 10
Glide: 2
High Speed turn: +2
Low Speed Fade: +6
Monsters and Firechickens still fly flat for a good portion of their flight, the Speed Demon won't. This is what makes these discs more than specialty drivers and the SD simply a novelty.

You had better believe it!!! :D
I've thrown beat speed demons CrAzY distances (for me). Back when they came out, I could only throw about 315' tops. When I beat my H Speed Demon in, I could throw it about 350'! You can get huge curves out of these things!! The Spirit is much more suited to huge distances though!

It was sold to me by Gateway as a distance driver, not a soecialty disc. The website describes it as stable to overstable. In reality, it is wickedly overstable. The poster who described the difference between this and the Firebird hit the nail on the head.
I have nothing against Gateway, and in fact use several of their designs on a regular basis. I just have no use for the SD, and expect that the Spirit and Illusion will make it obsolete.

SD is a very, very excellent disc for power throwers. I even throw them on occasion for open field distance practice. They are extremely fast, and very overstable.
Because of there extreme characteristics, most people are not able to use them. Which makes it that much better for those of us who can :)
When Gateway states that it is a distance disc, they are saying it goes really far for some people. They specifically note on their website that the SD is for the 300-500 foot range, so throwers that know how to throw the SD should be able to get it into that range. If you can't throw it that far, use it for something else.
And if you still hate it, private message me and I'll give you my address and I'll pay the shipping for you to send it to me so it will get some airtime.

I'd like to challenge this statement.
The disc still has a learning curve, you have to know how to throw it, and it isn't a beginner friendly disc by any means. Even the firebird is easy to learn. The SD than be thrown flat, and hold the line for quite a way before cutting, but only for someone who has taken the time to learn it.

I agree with this. I'm not a power thrower by any means, but I know some people who are and they can throw Speed Demons HUGE distances. I know some innova dudes who throw Firebirds and Monsters for distance, but you guys wouldn't say those discs are useless. The Speed Demon just needs getting used to, a little practice, and it will get huge distance for a true power thrower.
I remember when it came out, one of the Gateway pros threw a new one 493'! A NEW SPEED DEMON!!
ryangwillim
Jul 26 2004, 05:48 PM
I can get a new SD up to around 450' with it's virgin flight, then as they are beat, then go further and furth.
I'll play along, if I can go with "don't like" rather than hate. Everything has a use for someone and hate for me is reserved for things and people more offensive than a golf disc. :)
Speed Demon - Get the same ridiculous overstability with my Z-Xtreme, but more control for "magic disc" shots. :)
Champion Beast - Every one outta the bag was different. Harder to control and throw with consistency than anything I've ever thrown.
Candy Archangel - Coulda, shoulda, woulda, but wasn't.
And the most overrated golf disc of all time (just because it pisses people off to say it):
1st Run CE Valkyrie - That much money for something that most of the time just does what several good $15 drivers can do better.
DX Firebirds: I just can't throw the **** thing without it hyzering all over the place. I think I have pretty good technique (I can get a Valk 350-400'), but maybe I need to work on my snap more or something....or maybe this disc just sucks :D.

Yeah but I can't get crap outta this thing. I mean I'm lucky to get it 300' :confused:!!! It barely out drives my putter! Good for strong winds I guess but right now I'll stick with the Banshee for my wind disc.
Another disc I hate--D Series Stratus. Weak plastic. I split mine in half less than 6mos after I bought it and once it gets beat up its wildly understable.

Heres a tip for anyone with a speed demon, with the logo facing you, bend the disc like a taco, turn 45 degrees and do the same, repeat a few times, look at the side profile and make sure it is even...(not wavy)...then throw...shazamm!!! An understable speed demon...then simply reverse the process(logo away from you) to make it overstable...I guarantee the results.

Any reasons behind hating the Spirit and SD Rocco?
Most people try to use them for something THEY personally can't, and wind up hating them.
I have a love/hate relationship with my Z Wildcat. Its a clear 169 tyedye and I can put it on about any line I want, and I can do it pretty consistantly but when I step up to take my shot, I don't feel confident with it. I don't know what it is about that disc. I had another Z Wildcat that was a opaque orange 171 and it was one of my favorite discs ever! Oh well. Ive thrown other Z-cats and they have been nice. I guess I just got a weird one.
Anyways, I have a new hate for the Champion Eagle. That disc just doesn't have the distance of the DX version and can't really stand up in a 15+ headwind. I think the DX Version is much more versatile and better! Just my opinion though. BTW, I've never thrown a Champ Eagle over 300' but I've thrown DX to 400'. Oh well!
I have a few drivers I loathe:
Champion valkyrie: Wild and very understable. Funny thing is I love the DX valk.
Champion teebird: Just a dead disc. No distance and inconsistent. Not awful, but not long enough compared to other discs.
Firebird: I know it's very overstable, but I have no use at all for it.
Whippet: Same as firebird except I hate this disc with a passion.
X press: No glide and flips on a dime.
Archangel: heavy weights are OK, but lighter ones will flip even on a 50% power throw.
Champion eagle: Too overstable and lousy glide. The DX eagle has it beat in every way.

....But i hate CE more than DX
you sure hate a good chunk of innova's line of discs. maybe it's time you tried discraft out so you can start hating them too. the champion teebird is one of my primary drivers, i don't hate it in any way. the only discs i've ever disliked were those that i didn't know how to throw well, but considering that 90% of today's newer players are looking for "max d" out of every disc on the market, it makes since that so many guys are dissatisfied with a decent number of them. once you figure out what a disc's supposed to do, chances are it will do that for you most of the time if you really give it a chance. just a thought.

Hate all eagles....definatly the CE Eagle
I also dont like the Monster
Discs i absolutely Won't throw right now:
Beast(everyone i had were all the Old pRoline stamp.. and each one was inconsistently bad)
Valkyrie.. I have no reason for a disc to turn over and come back... I throw teebirds.. they get right to the point.
Discs i don't like(possibly because of the production run)
Pro ORC: Max weight and the one i got is flippy as hell.. i can't get any D with it and if i want something to flip that much i'll just throw my beat up DX gazelle.. at least i know that will come back at some point.
Whippet: Just don't need a disc to go that hard without getting Distance.. i'd rather have a firebird.

Plus $25+ is ridiculous even if it is a fundraiser. (I could see $25 as a fundraiser for collecting, but $25+ to throw...stupid)

I guess the driver I've felt the most uncomfortable with in my hand is the flick. Its just soooo skinny. I try to hold on tight but oops it flys out of my hand with layer of skin. Since I don't have a forehand thats probably the biggest reason I don't like it.
I'm also frustrated with the Champion whipet. I can't seem to find a hole to use it. WX, no distance and if I want a controled overstable midrange shot I'll use a new Wasp...but I would like to see what the Drone can do for me.

ya, what ever your champion plastic does divide that stability by two and you have your pro plastic.
But I would say that the pro starfires are a jewel in tail winds or no wind. I tried one for the first time the other day, and I have to say I was skepticle, and I cranked it at least 70 feet farther than my champion orc which used to be my farthest disc.

I suppose you could say I hate the XL. It seems like it ought to be a good driver, and it works great for Twig and many other people, and as long as I'm using someone ELSE'S it is a dead straight shooter for me. But as soon as I own one or throw one with a mind to whether I might like to buy it, control goes out the window and it goes out in a parking lot if it can find one. It must be psychological. Or else the mold actually somehow hates me.
