Have you heard of Keith Warren? I got to see him play at the Illinois Open #1 last weekend. The kid can throw. Seems like a good guy also. The way his game is progressing I think you'll hear more from him in the very near future.

Jul 02 2004, 06:46 PM
Yes we have heard of him!!!!! We met him when he was maybe 13 yrs old. He won the 1998 Am champs in Appleton in the Junior Division and probably would have placed well in Ams. He is a nice guy. He took some time off for a bit to be a kid again and is now touring with Chris Heeren who is also from Wisconsin. He is definitly someone to watch!!

Keith and Chris are both great guys. I let them hang at my house for the Tower Ridge tournament. Keith is definitely a bomber. Just for the record Keith still has not grown up. ;)

Ages, ratings for these 'young turks'?
Eldo Nino [Joel Hall] is currently 945, throws a mile, straddle-putts 40' no prob, and won't turn 18 for another 7 months...how does he rate compared to the names above?

not even close. Keith and Chris are rated over 1000 (I think).

Keith is 1005 and Chris is 1008. I was told that Keith is 19 years old, but I didn't ask him so I don't know for sure. Chris reads the board so he can post his age if he wants to.

You suuuuure his rating is only 945? That's a pretty long deuce! :D:D:D :D

That doesn't make sense. How did he get 3rd and he didn't even play the final 9? It looks like the computer threw him in tied with Russell and Brinster because they were all -17. I think he actually finished 5th.

Keith Warren just won another tournament this weekend, wow, he is good

Jul 13 2004, 01:43 AM
Blakely and Brinster had a playoff to determine which of them would be in the final nine. I just looked again and it looks like Schweb, Brinster and Blakely all finished at -17 and are therefore listed as tied for third. But I guess Blakely and Brinster tied for fourth and then Brinster made it into the final nine via a playoff. In the final nine everyone shot even except for Schweb who was one over.

Anyway it was a great tourney for Matt Blakely and may well be a sign of things to come.

Watch out for Zackary Doyle 10 years from now when he will be 12 years old. He will be 2 years old in 2 weeks and all he wants to do when it's playtime is throw sidearm rollers and forehand air shots. Forget the trucks and the tractors. He wants to fondle plastic. He can throw his roller 50 feet and has a rating of around 250. His favorite disc is a 125 gram Lynx. Zack actually outdrove my wife and me on Warwick's Hole #2 the other day with a downhill sidearm roller.

David Wiggins won the worlds 10 boys second place was 99 strokes behind....wow

He's now up to 963, and I forgot to mention he placed in his first Pro event, a National Tour stop.

[probably] No truth to the rumour the WFDF Distance Champs were scheduled so he couldn't attend, and therefore embarrass the international talent.

Id have to say watch out for Scott Slater and Josh Romine next year on the Pro Tour. Scott won USADGC and took 88th at USDGC taking a 8 and a 13 on back to back holes. The hole he took a 13 on her BIRDIED the day before. If it wasnt for that he would have been up in the cash.

All i have to say is im glad i dont have to play against them again next year.

By the way I dont think Scott turns 18 for another YEAR

Don't forget about Boobs - he was like 2 places out of cash at USDGC and beat Slater there.

I also expect to see JJ have his offical break out year and make a run at ROTY

cbdiscpimp
Oct 21 2004, 02:30 PM
The way i understand it JJ is not up for ROTY because he already accepted cash in 2004 which means he will NOT be a rookie in 2005. If this is the case then JJ, Sean Butler, Matt Peckam, Dave Grey, Dave Shaw and everyone else who has accepted cash this year will not be up for ROTY in 2005.

I talked about this with Josh Romine because hes going to go pro but told me he isnt accepting till after Jan 1 2005 because if he doesnt he will not qualify for rookie of the year in 2005.

Is this true or just another rumor???

intresting point - I've never thought about that

Oct 21 2004, 03:16 PM
I believe it's your first full year as a pro that counts toward ROTY. In other words, when you renew your PDGA membership at the begininng of the year, you select pro and pay for it. If you change from Am to Pro during the year and have played at least one Am event before doing it, that will not be your rookie year. I suggest contacting PDGA HQ to confirm.

chris
Oct 21 2004, 06:15 PM
I thought you could accept cash after usadgc and still be up for rookie of the year the next year, which if true I think it's pretty dumb. I think if you accept cash at all in a year, you shouldn't be considered a rookie for the following year.

Oct 21 2004, 08:02 PM
Chris Shmidt (Gateway Team Memeber) has been a top AM for a few years, placing well at both Worlds and AMNats the last year or three. Look for him to have a great year and be an option for ROTY. Hes said that hes making EVERY NT stop next year.
