Nothing to add. Just changing the title so folks don't think it's at Gonzales.
Not playing, prior committments, but if Gonzales is out, then Wimberley would be good.

I'm pretty new to DG. Won't be able to make this tournament unless it's in Ingleside or Corpus due to family commitments. I don't understand the distance gripes at all though. I've gone to Live Oak (city) for two tounaments and a casual day. To Houston, Ingleside, Corpus, and Houston once each. And Victoria for a mini. I know the Corpus folks all travel all over to support other groups. I really appreciated the Victoria Crew going down there this past weekend due to their issues. I hope the turn out isn't affected too much by the loacation Gimp decides to use. Peace I'm out to play night golf.

Well these things do take a LITTLE time sometimes. :) I mean what TD would NOT want to be finding a new course for a sanctioned event a few days out!
I promise as soon as this is ironed out it will be posted EVERYwhere. There will be a tourney this weekend even if we have to set up a temp course down I-35 (We need BASKETS HERE!). I can assure you that no matter what happens it will not make everyone happy :(
Thanks for all the good ideas have your bag ready
Have basket will travel.I say that we tee off from #1 at Guth in CCand we have 18 temp holes Finishing on#3 at live oak .Camp along the way and raise some money for somebody . :DOyeah and for Cdub we have the Clydesdales pull there trailer with us.Good times huh
I guess Victoria flooding out inspired someone to give the thread a poor rating LMAO...

I am starting a new thread on this venue change. Please post only there so people will be able to get all the correct information. Thanks!
The thread will be called Wimberley GCCS (Victoria has moved) this Sat., Dec. 4th

is the next-to-last GCCS in Live Oak or Round Rock? the PDGA schedule says both.
'd hate to drive 9 hours from n.o. and end up at the wrong place!

Good catch on the Tour page. The next event is at McGregor, but the one following that is at Round Rock (and not Live Oak as shown on the tour page). The Live Oak stop has already come and gone.
Hey Gimp when the stop hits the ROCK are you going to be using Rivery and the ROCK or maybe add some holes to the ROCK? Let me know if you need any help with anything.
We will be playing 21 at the Rock, so I need help with three baskets :)
I doubt the pavillion will be hard to snag in January, what do you think Chris? Vinnie? Do they have power there or should I bring the generator?
I think this will be a real fun stop during this time of the year. Maybe some of ya'll can make it over to the Mac. stop the week before :O

A - between 10 & 11, with the OB along both sides (cables and path).
B - between 13 & 14, the pit teebox.
C - between 15 & 16, the dam birdie. :)
Are there other alternates?

That **** 'pit' tee-box between 13&14 ate my lunch both rounds and al through practice at this year's Outlaws. I'd love another chance at it.
How about an Island on #16 for the second round? That seemed to go over real well at Outlaws, too.
It went over real well unless you were one of the many that lost 6 or more strokes on that hole with the headwind of 40 mph. But the good news...I got one of the two discs in the water back.
Extra holes TBD, but I don't remember liking the pit box very much if it is the same one from before :)
Might be fun to play original #4 (that is the big daddy that went all the way around to the left right?) since we should pretty much have the park to ourselves during that time of the year
Y is there a 6th page to this thread with no posts on it - did the server have another hickup???
Yes, some users got deleted, and when that happens all their posts disappear, but the post count makes the site think there are that many pages. When the users get restored, all the posts will be back. It happened to me a couple of months ago. It takes a few days for the board administrators to get the message and then fix it.

I'm lefthanded. It's a conspiracy.
I survived because I wasn't logged in at the time it hiccupped. I'm thinking that if you are in the middle of a PM session when it occurs that's when you get deleted. When it happened to me the last time, me and the person I was corresponding with both got bounced. Moral to the story, log out if you aren't active? Or maybe its cuz I have good Karma and use Firefox instead of Internet Exploder.
I have firefox though they must just hate me.

Note, I do have the other divisions done as well, but just posted the division that Andy (and I) play in.
I have the others done too, but they're unoffical, and I don't want to step on Gimp's toes more than I might have already done.
Actually, I did not realize anyone was really watching the points. I will get them to Richard today and they will be up shortly. Remember to check the PDGA tour page for all results they are posted anywhere from the day of to a couple days out depending on where the event it :) Anyone who wants the full documentation of points send me and email and I'll shoot it your way. It is a LARGE file though...
Thank! and since I did played in Rec at first 2 tourmeny, I think..but I am in Int now and I will play in Int. div to final, that mean I loose my points from Rec, that I played?
And in klein park, Beaumount. I played in Rec, and I could have won Int div. by 2 strokes.. I will loose that points? I was just wondering.. :p
Now u do know that people watching the scoring and points in your site, I hope I am not only one, Ha! :D
Shoot me an email and I'll take a look at your points. They will not change for this ubdate because I have already sent it off to Richard...
Do not forget that the MacGregor stop of the GCCS is coming up FAST on the 2nd weekend in January (1-8-2005). Everyone who gets there by the 9:00 am signup deadline will have a spot in the field. If you know you are going to make it, please take the time to sign up early at titledisc (http://www.titledisc.com/Events/GCCS04_7.php) or by mailing a check in. (John Edwards, 6014 Sanford, Houston, Texas 77096). Also, remember the Round Rock stop is the next weekend (January 15th).
There is a major change with the PDGA format for 2005. ***PROS can now play AMATEUR*** now if you are a pro (accepted cash before) rated below 955 you know have the option of playing in the amateur divisions where your rating places you. This is particularly positive for the age protected divisions and the pro female divisions. Now an 895 rated Grandmaster can play MA2 or MM1 where his skills currently place him. It should make the divisions even MORE fun and competitive. Be sure to encourage some of the folks this effects to come try it out in the New Year.
Below you will find reports on CrossPoint and Wimberley as well as the suspended BMDS. There is also a full list of next years Team Disaster events.
***WEMBERTORIA????***
After hosting over 40 disc golf events in the past few years, the December 4th, 2004 GCCS will be one to remember for Team Disaster. The Victoria area had some major flooding in the weeks before the event. With one week to go, the park took another damaging blow. The ENTIRE park was under water just seven days before the event.
With very short notice, we moved the event to Circle R. A huge thank you goes out to Mr. Houck and the staff for accommodating us on such short notice. Only a couple of people could not make the trip that had pre-registered and I think we got the message to everyone else. We ended up having a great turnout on a BEAUTIFUL day.
In the open division Justin Landers brought the title home shooting a 110 on the day. James McCaine finished 2nd two strokes back with Alex Huges in third three strokes back. Chris Ware and Steve Hemmeline also cashed. In Mens Advanced Matt Hall won by nine strokes shooting 111 on the day (2nd best score of ANYONE). Chris Rogers took 2nd with Matt Schion finishing third.
Robbie Cooper won his first sanctioned event over a large Intermediate field shooting 126 on the day. John Frost took 2nd one stroke back with Louis Hall, Andy Scofield and Jake Sisson finishing two strokes out in third. Eric Ingelbritson (131) won the Recreational division by six over Jody Curtis and seven over David Horrell.
Edith Horrell won the Womens Advanced division on the last hole over DeAtra Edwards. Thank you for everyone who came out to Circle R on such short notice!
***CrossPoint Stop***
The CrossPoint stop greeted us with cold weather and a forecast for rain. We were lucky though and the rain held off for both rounds.
The Open division was won by Lee DeForke who shot a tournament best 122 over the 42 holes. Advanced was won by Boo Pearson by two over Chris Garcia and three over Jason Wynne.
Intermediate was won by John Edwards (129) in a three-hole playoff over Doug Sullivan. There was a three way tie for third (131) between Wade Dauner, John Conger, Scott Linthicum and Marty Cooper.
In the Recreational Division Dan Showman won by seven (135) over Joe Miles with Church Conaway coming in third. Thank you to everyone who made it out!
***Big Money Doubles Series***
The remaining Big Money Doubles Series qualifiers have been canceled. Two round, low entry fee, unsanctioned doubles did not take off quite like we had hoped. We will have a couple of one round qualifiers before the Finale on Sunday April 24th so that anyone who wants to qualify will still have a chance. You will only have to play ONE of the qualifiers to qualify for the series bonus cash at the Finale. The Finale will be two rounds and sanctioned.

If you have ever accepted cash as a pro you wether your rating is below 955 you can not play as an am? When i read the rules that is what i got out of it. Anybody elses 2 cents.
Next year players below 955 can move freely between pro and am and accept cash. The only downside is that by accepting cash you lose eligibility to play PDGA major events as an Am.
ok you can accept cash but will not be able to play in A tier events. That should make competition alittle better.
Not right.
You can accept cash and still play Ams in an A-tier but you cannot play in "Majors"(Am Worlds, USADGC etc) as an Am if you have accepted cash.

Thanks for the bday notes - now a bday shout out to my buddy Fuzzy (he did this years logos).
I think people don't really care about points myself and I believe more of our top advanced players will dabble in pro at smaller low entry events this year. It will also be nice to see some of the people who rarely have divisions having the option of playing with similarly skilled players. Pro Women, Grand Masters, Masters players who have had health issues etc.
Thanks Gimp!

Have you guys had much rain in Houston the last several days (if any)?
How are the course conditions? Muddy? Dry?
I was out at the MacGregor course from 2-4 PM today. The course is actually in very good shape, it was misty at worst and other than a few low lying areas (drainage ditches) there are no puddles.
I figured that in preparation for tomorrow's tournament, there would either be 1) flags, temporary tee signs, or something else designating the long yellow tees 2) a few people out practicing the course who could show me where the long yellow tees are. There were neither. I spent a very frustrating 5-10 minutes on each of the first six holes looking for yellow long tees. Finding very few of them, I eventually got really ****** off and just finished my round from the tee signs. (red recreational tees)
I'm likely still working tomorrow and won't be able to attend the tournament. Hopefully next time I'm in town I'll be able to have someone show me the extended layout on this course.

What a great day of golf. Perfect weather, a great field, and the course looked great.
The alternate long tees that we played in the second round make a normally 'blah' McGregor into a much more challenging and fun course. Good job.
There's no denying that young Matt Hall is an exceptionally talented disc golfer. Could he compete and win at the next level. Undoubtably.
But let's not lose sight of the fact that he's a kid. 15 years old I think.
He wants to remain an AM until he turns 18. What's the big deal. There will be plenty of years in the future for you guys to dontate your money to him when he turns Pro. For now, we should support and encourage this young man...regardless of what division he chooses to play.
Can't wait for next weekend...Round Rock.

I know there are no sports worth playing except disc golf but Scooter really needs to think about the possible effects on high school eligiblity and NCAA eligibility before going pro -- just in case he has any talent at the mundane sports. :D:D
This is a complete misconception.
You can earn money as a professional in any sport and still maintain your collegiate eligibility in any sport EXCEPT for the specific sport that you accepted Pro money in.
Of course there are exceptions...and they tend to be more lenient than strict:
You can accept money and still be eligibile for that specific sport in Division II and Division III. Just not in Division I.
However, to retain Division I eligibility, you can still accept cash in the same sport that you want to retain your eligibility for, but it can only be in the sum of your actual expenses for that event.
So, if you wanted to earn a disc golf scholarship to a Division I school, you could only accept cash for the actual amount of expenses for that tournament (to include entry fee, food, gas, and lodging).
Sponsorships are allowed in the form of gear and merchandise. However, if you accept endoresment money for your athletic ability, regardless of which sport, you automatically lose all NCAA eligibilty. This was what happened to Jeremy Bloom. He accepted endoresment money from ski equipment companies, and was thus not allowed to play football at Colorado.
But, again, a person can be paid...and paid A LOT...to play pro sports (to include Disc golf), and still be eligible to play in the NCAA and to be awarded scholarships. Tim Dwight ran track after he was being paid by the NFL. Numerous kids accept minor league baseball contracts (with 7 figure signing bonuses for some) and then play college football (Cedric Benson).
If you are holding off going Pro in disc golf because you think you might be compromising your ability to get an NCAA scholarship in another sport, then you've been misled or haven't done the simple thing: contact the NCAA Eligibility Clearning House to determine your initial eligibilty. They'll tell you the exact same thing I just told you.

I have not played with these jokers before-
but-
when we play and have 12- we have 2 tables and up the blinds every half hour. top three of each table go to final table with thier chips...
if you do a $20 buy in, you could pay $160, $60 and $20
You need to keep tables even as people drop off... makes the random draw a little more fair if one table has better players than the other :)

Thanks Chris - I'll have the flags up there when you get to the course. BTW there are about 30 people who I expect to be there based on rumblings. I don't think we will have the 88 of last weekend, but we should have a nice field...

Gimp,
Did you ever specify which pavillion to meet at in the morning? The new pavillion down near basket #13, or the pavillion closer to the lake across from hole # 6?
Also....what time should we expect you and Scott this evening? Give me a call later and let me know (I think Cong said he was coming over around 7:00)
