I received the following e-mail over the weekend. The Wisp ski resort is located in McHenry, MD which is past Frostburg in the western panhandle of the state. It's about 2 hours from Pittsburgh and about 2 1/2 hours from Baltimore/D.C. The cost for 18 holes (2 chairlift rides) is $10. It sounds awesome!

Jeff,

I would like to invite you to visit our new course here in Western Maryland. Wisp at Deep Creek Mountain Resort is a four season resort offering skiing, snowboarding, and tubing in the winter. For summer we offer golf, skate boarding, inline skating, Mt.biking, Mt. boarding, Atv tours, and now Disc Golf. Our course is accessed by riding the chairlift to the first tee. The views from almost all of the 9 holes are just amazing. The 9th hole is 765' down hill finishing at our patio bar and grill. Grab a burger and a cold one and head up the chair for your second 9. Come on up and play.

JPoole built that course not too long ago. He said it was absolutely beautiful!

I'd love to hear any reviews from those visiting :D.

I've played an 18 hole course at a ski resort at Solitude in Utah and there is nothing quite like the experience of it.

Solitude DG at the ski resort just west of Salt Lake is truly awesome, $5 to ride to the top and then 16 of the 18 holes
are downhill. The last hole is 1,219 feet, I threw my 1st drive
pin high but WAY left of the basket, never found it. My mulligan tee shot "only" went 800 feet. What an experience, I highly recommend it not only the course but the scenic drive to get there is fantastic also.

I played the course yesterday after returning from a music festival in West Virginia.

It's an awesome experience! The first two holes overlook a picturesque small pond, as well as Deep Creek Lake far below you. There is one easy deuce hole, some tough par threes, and some borderline par four holes. The triumphant ninth hole plays 765 feet down the final headwall towards the base lodge, and a shot of 800 feet or more is possible if you really get hold of one. There are two sets of tees, red pro and white novice tees, although you'll still want to play the pro tee on many holes, including the signature first and ninth holes. From the red pro tees a score of 26 or below is some hot golf. I'm told that the course may be expanded to 18 holes for next season, woo-hoo!

Though it's a haul for Baltimore and D.C./Virginia golfers, I highly recommend a day trip out to visit one of the East coasts only ski resort disc golf courses.
