Just a reminder to those in the Austin and San Antonio areas. If your local course is muddy come on out to Red Rock where the rain soaks in as fast as it hits the ground! I did some work out here this morning and the tee boxes are solid. Be good to yourselves.

Thanks RT. Congrats on your GDS tourney. I heard from some Austinites that it ran smooth and all had fun. See you out there somewhere :)

I know the Iowa Boys enjoyed it a few weeks back. We hit it after a few days of rain and it was a dream to play. That sandy soil just soaks up all that rain. To contrast, we played Searight the same day and the mud caked so bad we grew about 3 inches every other step. That course is a war zone when it's muddy.

Thanks for the good words Special K. It's been pouring down here the last few days. I played quick round after the Masters today and it's playing great. My play needs work though :(
Shot 2 rounds from Ians course in the last few days. 51 and 54. Looks like I have some work to do on my game. Played todays round with Rick Amaya, he did well considering he used a few borrowed discs. Joel Sims, the offer still stands...come on out and get some photos while the course is really greeeeeeeen. dave, guess ya found the big stack-o-disc on your porch.
i'll bring the untagged by the trailer tommorrow.
for a complete list go to the lost&found thread.
Dave (or Mike if you know), do you have any of those z-comets for sail in the trailer still and if so how much do they cost?
Check with Mike at the trailer about the z-comets. I know i don't have any. Mike used to have a few.
Just a reminder: Pack 7 from St. Mary's Cathedral Church will be camping out in Red Rock Friday night. The course will be closed for Friday and Friday night but open to casual golf Saturday and Sunday.
There are 3 portables in the the hay patch this weekend. If your coming out to play use them as you wish. Feather and Jay have been out there designing their own holes. After the hay was cut this week the grass is short in that field. Good fun.
Just a reminder for those in the Austin/SanAntonio area. The course in Red Rock drains as it rains. Come on out if you can't wait on the rain.

Played the course this last Saturday and it is looking great.
I suggest everyone get a round in at the Red Rock.
and if anyone goes swimmin hole 3 has my blueberry l.s. and I miss it so much :D
We've had a bunch of golfers come out during the rainy days, taking advantage of the best rain course in Texas! I'm going out this morning to re-flag all of the tees. The curious calves have been pulling them out of the ground. Also, 4 portables will be in the hay patch for some extra holes this weekend. As the hay was cut last week, the grass is short there. Look for pink flags at teeing areas or pick your own. Rumor has it that a wolf game will go on again this weekend. Call Wimm or Killam for info. Lastly, I have been on the tractor trying to knock down the burrs. Remember to tuck your shoe laces inside your shoes to minimize the burr collection. Some things can't be helped in country golf :)
There is now a large triangle of 3 holes in the haypatch. I just redesigned them this morning. One hole going north even with the house almost all the way to the road. Then back across and downhill and then back up towards the house. The two long holes are probably 500-700 ft. The 3rd hole at 400-450ft.
the haypatch holes are gone. Now the extra 3 holes are in the woods between original #5 and #6. Tough, not permanent as of now. Nice addition to the more open holes.
Like I posted on the Pease thread: Any and all players are invited out to Red Rock this coming Sat evening for a one round mini/party. That's July 3rd. I will be running the regular mini at Pease Sat morning then out to Red Rock for a 4:00pm tee off. Two minis one day. Burgers and hot dogs, some cold frosties on me. Details later in the week. Please private message me or call me if you want to help it happen or attend. Special prizes for the best combined scores from Pease and Red Rock. Whole families are welcome. The course is in primo shape. I have been on the tractor mowing down the burrs and have push mowed all the greens! Come have some fun in the country.
My apologies to Hurricanediscgolf.com and Ron Jackson. I overlooked the discgolfstore.com pro/am worlds invitational that will be held July 3rd at the Snow Farm. Please support this event and look for me to reshcedule the one round deal at Red Rock. If you can't make the C-tier at the Snow Farm I will still have the regular mini at Pease. I will also be playing a round with my dog Daisy in Red Rock that evening if you want to join us:).

Anyone that is not going to be in Round Top this weekend for the Discgolfstore.com Pro/Am Worlds Invitational, is still welcome to come out to Moodys for a mini on Saturday, July 3. Ive decided to run the mini myself since I wont be making the trip to Snow Farm. Well still tee off at 4pm and Ill try to see if we can still get some burgers, dogs, and cold beverages out there for everyone.
$5 for all am divisions
$10 for all open divisions
$5 ace pot with a CTP after the round if nobody hits
The course is still looking great and theres a good chance well have some fireworks after the round so bring the family. :)

Jul 01 2004, 04:14 PM
I'm not sure yet but I'm leaning towards everyone playing Ian's tees to cut down on confusion.
I gave the push mower a tune-up today and remowed 10 greens and walkways from baskets to tees. I'll get the rest in the morning. Burrs are at a minimum as I have been on the tractor mowing fairways as well. It pays to stay in the fairway! Falcon hinted that he has some awesome fireworks for Sat. night and I've already asked Julie to let us "party on the patio". After all, it's her house....I just live there. :)

Hello Golfers.
With great sadness I send you this email concerning a stolen basket from Ian's course at Moody's Disc Golf Country Club in Red Rock, Texas. Our family went to Houston Saturday for my Uncle's 60th Birthday party and upon return I discovered the #10 basket on Ian's course gone. Maybe someone just borrowed it...maybe they'll return it? Please pass this note around. I would like to solicit help from the Waterloo members/or anyone to get the basket returned. I'm not concerned with punishment. I just want my basket back.
Until the baskets return I will be considering closing the course.
Really bummed, D.Moody

this is such b.s. it makes no sense . sorry to hear about this dave! we are all fortunate to have such a course to enjoy!!! I suppose there will always be LOSERS who ruin a good thing.I was in lago sunday and the cage was missing from #5 basket, **** I was ******!!! hopefully the basket will be found , perhaps a reward may be started. good luck!!
That is F'n ridiculous! If a basket was stolen from Moody's, this has got to be someone in the know...I don't think too many casual players go out to Moodys...Keep your eyes and ears on point and maybe something will turn up.
Dave- Don't take it personal, man! You do so much for the scene down here, don't let the actions of some loser-******* get to you!

Thanks for the words Effrain and Nix. I'm trying to keep my head up about this. It is hard though...the cigarette butts keep piling up all over the property. I'm real tired of finding Icehouse cans on the fairways too. I spent all day yesterday mowing fairways and greens and look forward to people playing out here. We'll take reservations for now, there will be NO TRESPASSING for any walk up/drive ups.
Here's the facts, not a threat: In Texas you better not be trespassing on private property after the NO TRESPASSING signs are posted!

I hate to hear you getting a basket taken on your property Dave. I especially have enjoyed being able to just drive up to your place, stick my $5 in the box and play a round at one of the best courses in the country.
If you want to start a reward/replace Dave's stolen basket collection at Pease - I'll chip in $5 towards that goal next time I'm at Pease. I don't want one bad apple to ruin the fun that we all have playing Red Rock and to cause Dave to lose money and trust in the rest of us.
And in the the immortal words of Steady Ed "pick up cans!"

Some worthlees piece of crap has the audacity to walk off with one of the baskets at your place Dave. The stupid low life son of a biatch will get what they have coming soon.
Especially after all you've done for DG in CenTX. I say hangin's too good for this creatin.
I am saddened by this news, as I have enjoyed all my time out at your great course Dave, and have been wanting to come out again with Metal and get in some swimming. I can't believe someone has the nerve to yank a basket off Ian's course. Thats a slap in the face and cannot be tolerated. After all you have done for Austin and surrounding area disc golf you deserve much better than this. Hopefully we will all keep an ear out and post anything that anyone hears on the board. We need to track the faukers down and give them the beating they deserve (I guess this part could be optional). this course will be sorely missed for that spur of the moment trip to Red Rock. Keep your head up dave and know that everyone on here is behind you 100%.
Thanks to all the golfers that came out this weekend after making reservations! It's nice to see people enjoying themselves out here. Again, thanks to Jeff and KT...Wimm, Killam, Howe, Silverman, Grundman....and the entire Sunday group(15 of you all). Chris, don't the old man beat you out here no more
Moody's is closed from Sept. 8th through 15th. Please don't make the drive during this time. After that call at least a day ahead for reservations, thanks. D.Moody

$25 is this sanctioned??? :D ya'll have FUN
MY BOY,LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUU
i'm looking forward to this weekend, i've been wanting to do some camping, bon fire stuff for a few weeks now.
what an awsome excuse.
lou, the waterloo crew staying in the cabin? or is it up for grabs??
i think the coffey's are coming... so maybe a round of nite golf is in the works. i'll get abck to ya with more as i get it.
Mike, I think Laura and Ed are getting the cabin. To any and all golfers playing the Waterloo Sunday deal there is no camping fee for Saturday night. Sounds like some night golf may be on...or "caveman tv".

I hope there is good turnout for this weekend. Look forward to going to Dave's as always. Will there be a Red Rock of Shame sighting out there? or do those guys even play anymore now that Hicks moved off? 10 bucks on whether or not Metal hits the ponds-any takers?
Ware here's your cue-weather report?

$25 is this sanctioned???
Heck no, if it were sanctioned the fee would be $50 :D
Seriously though, $20 for a 2-round mini, including ace pot, (and only $15 for rec and int) plus the $5 to play at an incredible private course like Moody's. Seems like a pretty good deal.
Hope to see a lot of folks out there for a great day of golf. :D

Are you going to have your basket out there and if you are do you think we can use it as hole 11 on Ian's course?

I haven't made it out there but will you be at Pease on Saturday?
News 8 Austin forcast as of 12/15/05 18:42 CDT for Saturday.
Saturday looks to present the biggest "weather challenges" of the upcoming weekend days as chilly winds and rainshowers -- possibly even some storms -- move in during the day.
Forcast high of 48 degrees F.
The challenge is on Gordo !!.

Pond temp is in the middle 40's :) :). No need for the trailer now, the new pit is in the yard. I cured it last night, wire brushed this a.m., about to high heat paint. Check out the Gerde thread in the "players" section and give him a good send off. I started the thread this morning. He will be missed.

Cabin campers are enjoying their caveman tv. Other campers are by the big barn enjoying the flashes of the radio tower . If your coming out please use the bathroom by the big barn. The pipes busted in the ones by basket #1 so the doors are locked. Have a great day out there.
Wish I did not have to go to town today. Hey Lou, post here and tell us how it went. Looked like a decent turnout when I took off.

James played really good that 2nd round, he really turned up the consistency on the greens. Mikey tried so hard to unravel but of course as usual he pulled it out 2 big shots. A big putt on 13 to save par and a pin job on 14 to hold me off long enough for me to unravel myself :) after a shaky hole 1 and 2, I kranked it up a notch and started whittling away at the lead, one of these days I'm gonna figure it out darn~it. ;)
