Okay I've thrown both of these, and the Gator seems a little shorter and more overstable. The Gremlin seems more versatile. The real question is which is better for all around use in some heavy wind?

Hmmm....

The Gator takes an early lead.

Wow Einstein, big surprise, but you may want to stick with the Gremlin with your arm. I think the spider may be a bit too much for you also. ;)

No, I am all about disc golf. Maybe less time at the gym and more on the course could help your game too.

Come on now, everyone knows that the best wind midrange disc is a wasp! :p

The best midrange is a CE SPIDER

Mar 17 2004, 01:35 PM
I don't know what king of headwinds you guys are throwing into. A CE Spider? I could release that at a 60 degree angle and it would still flip. The only midrange that could handle super head winds (30mph and up) would be a speed demon. The z-wasp is also a stable pig into winds up to 30mph but anything over and the trouble begins.

If you are talking from a sheer innova side of things, I would say the best midrange disc in the wind would have to be a gator. Now, if you are throwing in other brands....the wasp from discraft is a good disc, so is the g5i/g6i demon from gateway.

As for the Gremlin, I would consider this a straight shooter with no wind, but understable in the wind.

while most of my ce spiders will flip into a head wind, i have one that is 177 and works great into a 20-25 MPH wind.

Mar 17 2004, 02:59 PM
If you've gotta throw in the wind, throw a demon! But you might be better off throwing something like a whippet or viper.

Mar 17 2004, 03:02 PM
As for the Gator vs Gremlin, I would probably throw the Gremlin because of its lower profile.

I do not have much experience with either disc though.

GATOR is an overstable SPIDER, feels and looks identical, to me....

I had a gremlin, but never thrrew it, since i found out they were a limited run disc....

Roc's have been around for a long while, and still fetching a pretty penny on E-slay. So there's my vote for best mid-range, hands down, the Roc.

I'll have to give another vote for the z-wasp.... my rocs (I dont have millions...so i can only afford KC plastic) as soon as they are a little beat can't handle headwind.... so I tried out the wasp.....for windy days its gotta be a heavy wasp. :D

but most of the time I do use the roc..

Personally, I think both discs stink. Used to throw both of them. But if I had to choose one for the wind I'd say the gator is better. The gremlin was lot more flippy for me even without any wind.

I agree with the previous post, I don't think the Gremlin is much of a wind disc. Good midrange disc for medium power, but too much power will turn it over, and I had a ProLine max weight one.
I don't have much experience with the Gator, I have one somewhere just never really learned it. Learned a Roc instead. To me playing in wind is all about angles and if it is really windy just use a firebird, whippet, and rhyno that is all.

I have 3 of them......one majorly used...one about a 7 and the other about a 9(only thrown a couple times) Dont know that I could part with any of them though.

As far as what holds better in a headwind....that would be a Gator......the Proline Gremlin is a straight flyer for me ...it can handle a good headwind but nothing real strong.

I still have a max weight proline gremlin, but it's a wallhanger.. I also have a Proline gremlin x-out with a DX stamp on it and it's in CLear champion plastic.. really odd.. That's also a wall hanger.
Can't wait for the star gremlins though.. They have already been run(or test run) and Dave said he likes them a lot.

I voted for Gator 'cause I'm Cajun. Better to eat. I haven't thrown one yet but, sounds yummy.
