Ok...

So other than Jackson and Monica ($million dollar winners of Fear Factor), what other 'famous' types play disc golf?

I see that PDGA #50 belongs to Tatum O'Neal (http://www.pdga.com/tournament/playerstats.php) ...I'm not sure if it's the Tatum O'Neal.

What other celebs do you know that play our sport?

Being famous is not nearly the same as being infamous (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=infamous).

I'd say most (if not all) on these boards are much closer to the latter than the former.

Yes, #50 is _that_ Tatum Oneal. Ed gave away several honorary memberships. There should be one for Ryan Oneal as well. Tatum threw out the ceremonial "first disc" at the 1974 or 1975 World Frisbee Championships.

#33 or #37 is Bruce Willis, but not "the" Bruce Willis...

Annika Sorenstam has played "frisbee sports". Sorenstam, who lives in Incline Village, NV. near Lake Tahoe, said in an interview in the San Francisco Chronicle, "I played
competitive tennis for eight years, soccer, badminston, Frisbee sports. I got burned out on tennis at an early age because I played so much. When I first started playing golf, I thought it was a little boring." Presumably that would include disc golf, given that it is considered an established sport in Sweden. Check out the article at:
web page (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/1997/07/05/SP66234.DTL)

Also, according to a recent Business Week article web page (http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/03_32/b3845111_mz025.htm) Sandra Day O'Connor is rumored to have played.

Annika Srenstam played ultimate frisbee for a season or two in the mid 80s. If my memory servers me correct, I think the team placed 3rd or 4th in the Swedish Ultimate National Championships. It is not unlikely that she made an appearence on the local disc golf course ("Lillsjn" in Stockholm suburb Kungsngen) though, but I don't know that for sure. I am sure that her stick&ball golf career earnings far surpasses what she could have won in disc golf though ;-)

We also have Johan "Stakka Bo" Renck, who has directed videos for among others Madonna (Nothing Really Matters), Chris Cornell (Cant't Change Me) and Kylie Minogue (Love At First Sight). Quite frequent disc golfer back in the 80-90s. His then girlfriend (swedish artist La Camilla Henemark) even once put "Discgolfing boyfriends" in her "top ten ten hate list" for a magazine interview! With a smiley I believe, but nonetheless... ;-)

Clint Dolezel, Quarterback for the Las Vegas Gladiators of the Arena Football League plays quite a bit of disc golf during the off season here in Vegas. I have played a round with him and he was at our Ice Bowl tournament. He is originally from Texas.

Clint has got a sweet throw and makes 430' drives look like an approach.

I wondered what ever happend to Clint, after the Houston team dissolved, as he was our QB, and I knew he was a discgolfer. His brother lives in or near Waco, and plays also....

I played a round wuth Clint Dolezel in Houston when he was first learning. He was a natural driver - very clean easy distance on his throw...

Mar 30 2004, 10:42 PM
I think Clint threw something stupid like seven touchdowns in the Arena League championship game. Too bad he can't putt worth a crap. ;) Or shoot a gun. Tell him I noticed that Las Vegas isn't playing Austin this year and I think it's because he's scared. Wait, no. Please don't. I've heard what Doelzels do to people who tick them off!

Mar 30 2004, 10:50 PM
and....Clint and Lance's cousin is the starting tight end for the Dallas Cowboys. Can't think of his name. Big dude, long blond hair. I think Joey said they still play occasionally at Cameron in Waco.

I want one with Martin's picture and that says "Proud Hillbilly Neck from TN". How about that banjo dude from Deliverance instead? Or.....Martin and the little banjo ***** grabber together......it could be like those Christmas cards that play songs when opened except it would play that dueling bar stools when you pull it out of your bag. I like it. I'll take three.

Martin, remind me to tell you about the pig hunt with
Ted Nugent in TN.

As a teenager, I learned to play Frisbee in Venezuela, from Don Parker, Don Baylor and Mike Mitchell (former Pirates that played for the Magallanes). And they played a lot of golf. That really doesn't count, does it? ;)
