Anybody that ever came to Ardmore, OK several years ago and played the course at the Regional Park (softball complex) probably enjoyed the course, or if they didn't their scores might have biased their opinion. The old course out there was long, tight, and quite tough at times. It ended up being taken out due to expansion of park, etc. But now we have installed another 18 hole course out there which is just as scenic, tough, long, and tight. It has a great variety of shots to choose from, lots of trees, water, etc. I believe hole 18 is approximately 1000 feet & uphill....not to mention a 40 ft. wide tunnel to go through. It is really a lot of fun, and anyone that wants to hit the road and go play needs to put this course on your itenerary. It is not in the course directory yet, but should be before long. The park is easy to find (right off I-35), and we should have signs indicating where hole 1 tee is shortly. The Southern Okla. Disc Golf club is also planning on some hosting a tournament or two in the near future also.....we will spread the word...trust me.

That is great news! I never did get around to playing the old course at Regional Park. I will definantly have to check it out.

I forgot to mention, we also have mini-tournaments every Sunday at noon, so if anyone is in the area should stop by and play.....we meet at the main pavilion...there are signs that direct you there when you enter the park...it is $3 to play (draw doubles), $1 for a mulligan, and $1 for ace pot. The ace pot is currently at $120.

Whats up with some directions in from I-35?

soonerdrew
Jan 27 2004, 02:44 PM
Take I-35 north to Exit 33, turn east off of the interstate. Turn left on Rockford Rd. which is immediately after the Phillips 66. You will continue on this road into the park and turn right immediately after the City of Ardmore Parks building. Follow the signs to the pavilion. It's slightly more difficult to find the 1st tee, but if would like to come up on Sunday we will all be there...just let me know!

Cool. I have played at the softball complex before, and that course was sweet. Broadlawn is nice, but a little easy. Looking forward to playing the new course.

I played in a couple of Shiner Opens there, gosh, 7 or 8 years ago? I liked that course! My very last shot there was an ace, and it not only put me in the money, it was the only ace of the tournament, and they were in the process of setting up the CTP - $$$.

Danny Waldron and I commuted from Dallas, and on Sunday morning, about 10 miles south of Ardmore, we saw a little yellow car broken down on the side of the road and a guy near it. I looked, thought for a second about the guy and the car, and said, "Hey, that was Dave O!", then a pause, then I said, "Isn't he leading the tournament?", followed by another pause, then Danny and I looked at each other, then burst out laughing.

Then we went back and picked him up...

I look forward to playing there again, if we are alllowed to retrieve discs that go into the ball field (hopefully, no holes go near it anymore).

It is somewhat similar to the old course, with some of the same holes, but the majority of the course is different. Broadlawn has basically been deserted since we put this course into action, it is certainly more fun & challenging! B-Lawn is still fun to play occasionally though. This course definitely brings enjoyment to the game!

We would love to have you out on Sunday! Usually a friend and I play on Sundays in the morning at 10, and then the rest of the DG'ers come out at noon. People usually gather in the parking lot at the main pavilion from around 11:45 to noon for the mini. Hope to see you there!

Nice......having more $ in your wallet on your way home from the tournament than you had on your way down is always great! That course was probably the oldest version of the Softball Complex course....it has changed a couple of times...but I believe you'll easily like this one just as much.
That was pretty generous to pickup Dave O, I know some competitors would have probably loved to have seen the tourney leader on the side of the road!
Yea, on this course you don't have to worry about the softball fields....they don't come into play at all.....unless you are Superman and can throw about 2000 ft.
Hope to see you out sometime!

yesterday I drove almost 100 miles to play your"mini".I was at the pavilion at11:30 and no one was anywhere to be found .Stayed there till about12:15, then went and played Broadlawn.I saw a Local Player out there and he said this was two weeks in a row no one showed up.Needless to say I was not a happy camper, a LITTLE precip. never scares me off.It would be kinda nice if yall would post that there are NOT minis on sunday at the softball complex.Even through all that :D.

One more thing, this doubles tourney isnt sactioned right? If it was I dont believe those baskets at Broadlawn are evn close to PDGA standards, just my thought.

If you are supposed to be playing minis on Sundays where were you on Sunday? I drove from Denton, Tx to come play your mini and no one was there for it, and not only that you dont have a course map or any signs for your course out by the softball complex. If you called the mini because of weather that was a bad call at noon it was bright and sunny outside. You guys up in Ok need to get your game together if you are going to say your having minis then have them dont puss out because it rained a little. Unfortunetaly we were unable to play the course due to no maps or tee pads anywhere in sight. I bet your course is great but you need to have it so people can find and play your course.

Mar 01 2004, 09:02 PM
looks like your also doing some pussin out by posting annonymously. [*****]! :D

:mad:Well i did not want to resond to your posts because you don,t like our baskets--call us wimps for not showing when it was going to rain (we rescheduled that day) -- I am sorry you traveled that far TWICE without being able to play :( but we are reachable--there is an e-mail account and a phone number--you could have waited for us to respond -- We are a VERY SMALL club only about 5-7 that play weekly we are attempting to gain more local members-- I guess I am sorry we do not meet for HIGH STANDARDS of excellence :) -- The course is Temporary (and made of SUBSTANDARD BASKETS) right now--

We are more than happy to help anyone out that comes to Ardmore to play our new course---there was a group of guys from Norman last weekend that played and had a great time---they loved our course---I feel that our club & tournaments are organized well, we haven't had any problems like this in the past---obviously, if we would have known you were coming, then we would have gladly met up with you and shown you around.....I guess s&*^ happens sometimes.....that's too bad that you are talking down our tournament, but if that is the way that you foster the sport of disc golf and the sportsmanship involved, then so be it. Finally, I find it extremely hard to respond to someone that is acting so negatively towards myself and the rest of our disc golf club, but in light of your past few posts, here is the reply you wanted.

I was wanting to know what the deal was a month ago.As for sportsmanship I beleive we are both wrong, Invitng people to play then changing it with no further notification.I am wrong in using harsh words yalls way, Basically got harsher when I was ignored.I run minis myself and had to cancel the last one for a family emerygency and I posted it hear as soon as I found out.I dont want a war, I just wanted to know what the deal was.I would never tell anyone not to attend any event, just said that to try to get a response. My apologizes to all involved with your course and club.I have not acted in a way in which I am proud of at all.I just play for fun, and I think we ALL should unite to be one big disc golf community nation wide.Again my apologizes for speaking in a way that does nothing but harm to the sport and myself.
