Fastbacks are the old style frisbee used for MTA.The center is raised, generally with rings going up to the raised middle of the plate. They used to be the promo frisbee of choice. I think they use a light weight lynx or gopher or something else nowadays for MTA.

Chris,

The PDGA would only fine you if you talked on your cell phone during a round, setting up an autograph session to sign someone's disc, thus taking longer than 30 seconds to make your throw. :D

Are Fastbacks even PDGA approved? I think not, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I hate throwing those things. They usually turn into instant rollers for me, no matter how much hyzer I give them. I don't have the old school finesse to properly throw those hunks of junk.

I realize what they are getting at in labeling users with between 200-400 posts as a fastback, or basically a junior member, but that's an insult! Same thing with Lid. And what does a bottle cap have to do with disc golf?

I propose the following:

0 Lurker
25 Mini
50 Weighted Mini
100 Putter
200 Upshot
400 Midrange
700 Long Approach
1200 Driver
1600 Long Driver
2500 Fairway Ace
5000 Hole-in-one

Jim,

Check the end of the Wham-O listing. I'm an old timer, but I have no idea what the 90 Mold and the Tool (T501 Mold) are. Could the 90 mold poss. be the extra large fastback? Prob not, because the fastback listing has "all molds".
Thanks for putting up the hyperlink.

Dec 18 2003, 02:47 PM
Dunno about the 90 Mold, but The Tool is their Ultimate style disc. Similar to the Discraft's Ultrastar.

I think the post number should change a bit. From 1-1000 posts there are 7 different titles, then you are stuck on 1 title for 1000 more posts.

Ball Golfer 1-25
Weekender 26-75

Yes, more names for beginners is a good idea and we need the list to be a little longer to cover the Carpal Crew. Feel free to use that.

The Prize is a unthrown unmarked 1995 Port Arther World Championship Special Viper. Free shipping. (I'm seeing if I can get the PDGA to toss something in as well.

Be inventive!

I think Kid Roc is onto something...we need a flatter naming system! :D But what's this? Nick (of all people) advocating a bigger payout? (Oops! I forgot, it's ratings based!)

neonnoodle
Jan 15 2004, 04:17 PM
Tomorrow night Midnight. The official cut off will be the announcement of the winner, so keep 'em coming until that.

And like someone suggested, we don't have to glorify people that post alot or disparage folks that don't. Fun will win.

The prize again is a postage paid 1995 Special Viper Port Arther Worlds disc (unthrown).

neonnoodle
Jan 16 2004, 11:59 AM
After looking them over, I've decided to give it another week, so you have until next Friday.

I'd like to use them exactly as the contestent has written them, though I like parts of some, on the whole they need to hit the criteria without me having to change them.

To review the criteria:
No more than 20 Titles.
More titles towards the low number of posts.
Mildly Disc Golf Related though funny wins out.
We dont need to degrade those who do not post or overly praise those that post all of the time.
Cannibalizing others lists is permitted.
It is the overall list that will win.

Prize: 1995 Special Edition Viper Port Arthur Worlds Perfect condition. No postage fee.

Jan 16 2004, 02:48 PM
Will the winners submission actually be used on the board?

neonnoodle
Jan 16 2004, 02:53 PM
Yes, of course.

Jan 16 2004, 03:16 PM

(Drum roll) Winning the 1995 Port Arthur Worlds Special Addition Viper is.. Steven 'Doc' Norby (AKA circle_2)!

Suggestions should include the entire set up (top to bottom as presented so unprofessionally above). Then we will choose the better ones and place a poll on this thread to decide.

"Roller Queen" > wrong in so many ways. First, few if any women are known as exceptional rollers. Second, no women are even close to the 1300 posting total required. It looks like Discette is top women poster at 538. Third, San Franciso barely has any courses...

Looks like I better buckle down and get my post count to 1500...

I have a few emails into the DISboard Guru Conrad. The problem is that the list is not being retained by the system, so the titles are not changing as breakpoints are being reached. I have to manually put them in and update the titles. I'll try and do it regularly, but this is not a viable workaround long term. Conrad will get it fixed. (I hope.)

Where are the new nomenclatures? I thought some of you had some wild improvements?

The 1995 Port Arthur Texas Worlds Special Viper went out to Doc today. Ill see if I can rustle up a prize for the new one. Doc could win again, because I will include the current on in the choices.
