I've been playing for less than 5 months and I got my fourth ace at Fountain Hills last week! Unfortunately it was during a practice round on Thursday. Off the tree into the basket on 10 in the short position from the AM tee.
I called it too! All week long I had been feeling that it was coming. When I mentioned it during the PDGA Summit doubles at Shelly Sharpe the night before, Jeff Homburg told me to save it for Friday. Great advice...but I blew my wad about 24 hours too early.
All four aces have been with Tee Birds which isn't even my primary driver any longer since the Beast arrived.

I played this one day tournament in Utrecht,Holland.I was standing on the last hole of the day and heard some chains on my right.I looked and saw a disc fall out of the basket.
Eric,(a friend of mine) hit chains but the disc didn't stick.I started laughing and said something like, too bad Eric.
Then it was my turn to play (on a different hole) and threw a side arm.I heard chains again and mine disc did stick.Yeah,I shouted. My first side arm ace in a tournament. Then it was Eric's turn to laugh.I said;why are you laughing?I just had an ace! Then he replied;yes,I know, but we all forgot to pay the acepool. He was right.Darn...but it's still an ace...side arm!

My first ace was with a TeeBird, too. It was a nice steady annie shot thru some trees to a lovely crash. Unfortunately, I was out solo since I had called in sick to work and couldn't find anyone else who had done the same.
What really sucked about it was going to work the next day and not being able to tell anyone about the "Ace I got on number 5 at Acorn" while I was supposed to be at home in bed sick !
Don't they understand the therapeutic value of DG ?
I played in a temp course annual tourney at Kenwood Park in Minnesota last weekend and we went out for our second round and I decided to take a practice drive on the hole prior to the 2-minute and it was this tight tree line anhyzer shot about 265ft. and I opted to try it sidearm with a flash and I didn't hear anything with the tree wall it was around, but when I hit the bottom and got around the corner sure enough it was in the basket. Hate to waste an ace on a practice shot, but an ace is an ace. Sure enough when the round started I just missed hitting it again with the same disc and sat 2 ft. to the right pin high. ****, missed the ace pool.
Just got back into disc golf after about 10 years away. I bought a new Quarter K (white 171) and slammed home a 170 ft line drive with it much to my amazement. I was lucky enough to have two witnesses.
Six days later with my new white Roc I aced the exact same hole again with a pair of witnesses that just happened to be strolling by.
This just doesn't happen. But it did and it was pretty neat. I began thinking that white discs must be my lucky color. Incidentally I really don't like my Quarter K too much and it's out of the bag, but I'll always remember it for my first ace.
Every time I play this hole now I just have to go for it. ;)

Ok, I was playing a tournament Sunday morning, I wasn't doing very well. We took a lunch break and I told my husband I wanted to throw a few drives to get my confidence back up. I step up to the first hole, and say "Now if I just line up to the left" and throw the drive right in the basket. Confidence fixed!!! I went on to have the best round of the tournament. I continued to throw the same disc, got my first 3 on a 560 foot hole, and then proceeded to get the CTP with the same disc. (First Ace) It's now hanging on my wall. Good disc. And yes, it is an orc /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

my last 3 aces have been in warm up rounds before the start of the round dome
I had an ace today - 150 feet downhill with a Buzzz D. Only
-5 for the round (my PR there is -11) I really didn't play well at all despite the ace.

Several years back, I was preparing for Worlds and trying some new shots to get the feel for some non-homey routes on my home course. I was with a good friend of mine and threw a knife hyzer at a hole I normally use a line drive. Bam, dead center and it stays. One week later, I am with the same friend and I hit another basket.
Now the two of us are going to KC Worlds in two weeks and I am htting aces! I felt I was going to hit one at Worlds and was pretty excited about it. Driving up to worlds we stopped to play a course and I hit my third ace in 4 weeks. I just knew I was going to hit an ace at worlds now! Third hole at worlds I tee off and hit a basket dead center, but it spits. So I am thinking, I have the line, now to get it in the basket. Day three I am walking to my assigned hole and I decide to throw a practice shot. Of course you can guess what happened. I nailed the basket for an ace and lost that 'feeling". Oh well, four aces in four weeks was a cool feeling.
My friend has quit talking to me though.

My last ace was at my home course while doing course maintenance. I was just playin' and pickin' up trash and trimmin' trees with my iPod jammin'. I threw # 8, 208 uphill through a tunnel (blind), and went about my business. After ten minutes or so of work I got to the top of the hill and lo and behold my disc is in the basket. No one else was there. A surprise ace!

So long as it is inadvertant, I would say yes.
As the rules go, if your disc slid out of bounds, let's say a street, and someone walking down the street just picked it up and put it in the basket, without knowing what they were doing, you've just aced!
Now if the person in your situation moved so that they were trying to do that, they should be penalized.
I have had three aces and they have all been sidearm aces. My first ace was hole #3 at keriekas. The hole sits on the side of a hill that slopes down to the right. I nailed the chains dead center with a valkyrie, but no one was around to see it.
Recently, I have been hitting chains consistently. I had one shot with a buzz that hit dead center but spun out. Still waiting for my first tournament ace - hopefully it is coming soon.

Neal, your up..
Hey, Lance. We've played in some Intermediate tournaments this past year. I was just browsing and I saw your post. I was like, "Is he talking to me?" Who were you talking about--Neal? Neal Dambra? If anyone is wondering, he is "the" Neal. :D Anyway, here's my ace story thus far.
Started playing regularly in June of '04. Hit my first Ace on Aug. 29 of '04. I hit 8 Aces in that year span from my first one.. Here are a couple of the highlights; Aces 1 & 2 were skippers with the same disc, on the same hole about 4 mos. apart. In that span of 8, I hit 2 aces 48 hrs. apart, and 2 more 72 hours apart, the 2nd one coming on Aug. 28 (364 days after my 1st ace). The longest was an in the air ace of 327 ft.. I've since added 3 more aces including my only multiple throw ace and my only tournament Ace (which I called), 214 ft, Hole 20 in Live Oak (City course). Note: Neal Dambra aced hole 21 on Pro-Adv. Sunday of the same tournament. I also won 2 CTPs on the season at Conroe-$185, and TX States-$350. All my Aces have been hit using Innova discs so far with the Champion Leopard finding its way in 5 times! I've been very fortunate and look forward to that great "I just hit an Ace" feeling again soon. Is there a thread on here where people post their aces when they hit them?

Not only was it ace number 20 for me, it was one of the coolest aces of my life. I pretty much had to ace it considering you were inside 30 and hadn't missed one yet.
Then, in a shocker, you hit another great putt in the playoff to take me out.
It's funny, I beat JJ in a monthly once and he aced and got more money than me. You beat me, I aced, and I got more money than you. :D
I got my first ace on Chistmas day 2005 at hole 8, meade-olin in Brandenburg, Kentucky, with a Teebird. My second ace was at Otter Creek Park on hole 11. I have the basket 3 times on hole 12 I never got one to stick.
My third ace was creepy to say the least.
It was Valentines day of 04, my true love was @ home sleeping in, so I snuck off for a round. Stepped up to tee off on hole 12 ( white tee ) @ Bi-centennial park in Crowley , TX. Threw a crazy firebird flick on a big hyzer, CHING ,dead center chains in the basket. The second my firebird hit the basket, the clouds opened up , and some of the worst rain I had ever seen, pummeled my skinny white rear end into the ground. It was almost a mile to my car. Come to find out , the rain was sooo bad that day, a woman drowned shortly after I left, trying to cross a flooded creek crossing. Kind of hard to feel good about that one.

I was standing on the teepad of hole 5 at Morley Field. I visualised the perfect drive to the short pin position directly behind a large tree. In my mind I saw the disc leaving my hand on a large hyzer line, big snap, strong follow through. The flight path was perfect, the disc was flying fast, then it skips off the ground and turns straight into the chains for an ace. That was what was in my mind. What actually happened was. I visualised the shot in my mind, went to execute the shot, no snap, released on an anhyzer, followed through off angle and fell off the teepad, messed up my knee, broke my pinky finger and my hat fell off so I didn't look cool anymore. Next thing I know everyone is cheering, yelling and laughing. I was #$*&$! cause I thought they were laughing at me, **** I already knew I didn't look cool cause my hat fell off, but did they really need to laugh? Then I realized that the Reaper I threw managed to pull out of the anhyzer and turn straight into the basket for an ace. What luck!

Hole # 8 at Morley field , this guy Doug and his ladyfriend were playing and she had not thrown before.
Basket was by the Olive tree on the right side.
Doug had just driven his disc.
His ladyfriend was ready to throw , she threw and stepped to the side of the teepad.
I got up to throw and she stepped back onto the teepad.
I tried to slow up , but as you know , once I get ready to throw , theres no stopping the train !!!!!
I tried to avoid her and reached around her shoulder and threw my disc to the right of the light pole and grabed onto her so we both didn't go down hard !!!!
She was OK and so was I.
We all watched my disc , come back over the sidewalk and slam chains hard and stuck !!!!!
I can now say I aced around somebody !!!! /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Is this legit? C'mon, six aces in one day? (http://cubbysdiscgolfworld.blogspot.com/) wtf? :p
It's totally legit!
Carl is a ~920 rated golfer from Southern New Jersey. With his work schedule, he can only play disc golf on his days off, but when he plays, he goes all day - usually 8 or 10 rounds in succession. He will start early in the morning, even before the sun comes up, and sometimes plays well into the nighttime. The course at which he plays, Rutgers University, is well lit on almost the entire course.
From the tee signs, the course is one of the shortest you'll ever see. It's longest hole is 230 feet, and the total course length for 18 holes is somewhere around 3500 feet. You can shoot in the low 40s on the course with just a putter, and there is a righty hyzer lane available on the drive on just about every hole.
This course is the closest to Carl geographically and allows the most "bang for his buck" - he can play the most amount of golf in the time he spends. With Carl's playing routine and the short nature of the course, he has attained a prolific groove that is unrivaled in disc golf, imo. With an enormous amount of practice, he has honed each and every drive on all 18 holes. He knows exactly which disc to throw and how hard to deliver it. He primarily uses Champion Firebirds which can attain the most consistency. He has scored several aces per day on several occasions, and shot more than 50 aces in one year!
There's been some banter on another message board about this. I've suggested that all that practice and all those aces have only allowed him to become an expert on that particular layout. I maintain that it may do very little to help him become a better OVERALL disc golfer. To wit, I've not gotten the indication that he does any better on the B and C tee layouts at that course, (which are much longer, and which he rarely plays) or that the skills translate to better play at other disc golf courses, especially ones that have holes 300 feet in length and longer. And frankly, I don't see the enjoyment in playing nothing but "pitch-n-putt" disc golf. But the bottom line is that this is the kind of golf that makes him happy, and there's no denying that aces are exciting. And the sheer volume at which he attains aces is a tremendous feat, that again, I think is unrivaled in all of disc golf.
Way to go, Carl!

Reader Ranch Invitational, we were doing a cooler round of doubles, 27 holes. holes 26 and 27 play down and up this side hill around 340' each and these two holes are designated tough shot. Arren Griffis and I are shooting decently thus far, and we step up to 26, with a huge wind coming over the ravine (Litterally 25 mph) Griff throws a shot that turns, and its like, gone. never to be found, and it carries forever. Were screwed on this one for sure... I step up and say "well it really doesn't matter does it." either way I tried, I threw a clear Z MRV and its looking like a park job (which would mean nothing) but it kept in the air, and it hit the back side of the chains going so slow, we see it teeter on the rim.....and it stuck for the ace on tough shot!!!!!! Griff is 6'7 and big so he lifted me over his head in triummph! (I was scared) the other two teams in our group took 6's! so it was sick.

Yes, this hole is just under 100 feet long.
But it also has some foliage to negotiate, and some elevation change. It's really not as straightforward as it may seem - look at the pictures.
Even on a flat wide open 100-foot shot, I'd like to see someone put in in 3 times. (Cubby made it 3 times out of the presumably 6 or 8 drives he took on this hole that day...with 3 different discs, too!)

Jeff,
Not to denigrate Cubby's achievement, but just to make sure we have all the facts... do you know if these aces, especially the ones on video, were all with his first shot of each round on those holes? IMO if he threw multiple shots from the tee and then called the one that went in an ace those are not legitimate aces for toward his total. One reason I ask is because a few years ago there was a guy who claimed lots of aces on his website, and I'm pretty sure I learned of it on here, and it turns out he would throw 8-9 drives until he got an ace. In my book all shots after the first drive are practice shots and should not be counted toward any ace totals. I've had 2 aces like this that I don't count (and if I did they would double my current total of 2!)
I appreciate the fair and positive, yet balanced, tone that you've given to Cubby's achievements. I think you summed it up well that it may not be what you'd do, but if it fits his lifestyle and gives the guy pleasure that's great!

P.S.- Someone might want to get Cubby on here. I'm really not trying to put the guy down or harass him; I'm just trying to find out the facts. Just the facts. Nothing but the facts, ma'am.

Hit a 360~ft ace yesterday at AJ Jolly in Alexandria, KY.
White DX Wraith, 172, and it was in from the time it left my hand. Beautiful turnover that seemed like it took forever to get there, and it turned back to go into the right side of a right basket.
There was a whole family having a party in the park about 40 feet from the tee, and right before my throw I heard an older man ask a young kid (about 15) if he'd ever played "that" before. He said it looked like fun - little did he know how much fun he was going to see! BANG! CHING! Wooohooo!

It is my understanding that they are all the first and only drive on that hole each round. Even if you play 8 rounds a day, those are all legitimate aces.
