The 2007 COTO tournament at Pease Park in Austin is coming up rapidly (less than a month, yikes!). We are still seeking sponsors, so if you or someone you know or some business you know of would be able to sponsor, wed really appreciate it. We need cash sponsorship, but we could also use merchandise and/or gift certificate sponsorship too.

Our sponsor request letter is below. Please help out Waterloo Disc Golf Club and E.D.G.E. by printing it out, taking it around, and asking folks about sponsoring. Remember, the worst anyone can do is say no.

Also, players dont forget: you can register for COTO online at www.titledisc.com. (http://www.titledisc.com.) This tournament usually fills up with 130-140 players, so dont wait until the last minute.

Thanks!
Waterloo Disc Golf Club

Waterloo Disc Golf Club

www.austindiscgolf.org (http://www.austindiscgolf.org)

Dear Sponsor,

The Waterloo Disc Golf Club is proud to announce that it is hosting the 17th Annual Capital of Texas Open at Pease Park in Austin, Texas. This distinguished disc golf tournament is one of the longest running tournaments in Texas. The dates are set for May 19-20, 2007, and this years event will again benefit the Educational Disc Golf Experience (E.D.G.E.) as well as our local disc golf community through the Waterloo Disc Golf Club.

E.D.G.E. is an outstanding non-profit, charitable organization that provides disc golf equipment and curriculum to 3rd through 12th graders across the country. It was developed by a Two-time World Champion disc golfer and educational specialists to give schools and youth organization leaders a basis for teaching a fun, easy-to-learn, lifetime sport to young people. For more information on the E.D.G.E. program visit their website at www.edgediscgolf.org (http://www.edgediscgolf.org) .

The Waterloo Disc Golf Club itself is a non-profit civic organization. We are here not only to support and promote the sport, but we are also all about giving back to the community. Please visit us at www.austindiscgolf.org (http://www.austindiscgolf.org) . Thanks to past sponsorship and hard work by our volunteers, we have donated in excess of $55,000 to Ronald McDonald House, Capital Area Food Bank, E.D.G.E., Lance Armstrong Foundation, Downs Syndrome Association of Central Texas, and the Austin Parks Foundation over the last eight years. Also, thanks in part to our great sponsors of the 2005 tournament, the E.D.G.E. program has been implemented into a local school here in Central Texas. Wont you please help enhance our local parks and our childrens education through E.D.G.E. by being a sponsor of this wonderful tournament? Sponsorship can be in the form of cash, merchandise, or a combination of the two. The different levels are:

For a sponsorship of $200 or more: your companys banners/signs on display in the park during the event, your logo on the official tournament shirt, your logo on the club web site, plus on a tee-box sign. This sign will be seen by all of the competitors each time that they play the course. Your name will also be added to the Sponsor List that will be displayed at the course and distributed to the players, the general public, and the media.
For a sponsorship of $100 - $199: your logo on the club web site, a tee-box sign, and Sponsor List.
For a sponsorship of up to $99: your name on the web site and Sponsor List.
Sponsorships of smaller amounts will greatly be appreciated as well. All sponsors will be put on the Sponsor list.

For more information, please contact Gordon Maxim-Kelley at (512) 858-0119 ([email protected]), Patty or Mitch Justice at (830) 392-6060 ([email protected]), or Roger Allen at (512) 899-2063. Please send all sponsorship to Waterloo Disc Golf Club, PO Box 33531, Austin, TX, 78764 (checks payable to Waterloo Disc Golf Club). If you wish, you can make your check payable directly to E.D.G.E. in order to get the tax benefits of a charitable donation. Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Patty Justice

If it is scattered and light rain we will have the minis this weekend.

thank you Joey for running the mini. man you guys could make that 5th street course real tough by including some OB on some of those sidewalks. :D nice addition to the course though makes it allot easier to walk when muddy.

boomboom
Dec 11 2007, 06:27 PM
We might have some sidewalk Ob's in the future.
The City has a conflict with the contractors about the sidewalk.... #1. It's cracking. #2. They were not supposed to put it within 30 Ft. of any basket.
The City will not pay them unless they correct their mistakes so later we might be able to call it OB.

In the next year or so we are going to add a second tee box to every hole at 5th st. and also get new signs.

Thanks for coming up.

SOUNDS LIKE FUN HUH ?
I will be there...how about you ???

Below are the description of the formats and the rules.

Best Shot, also known as "Scramble," is the most common format for doubles in disc golf. Players always throw from the same lie, picking the shot they prefer each time.

Best Disc, also known as "Best Score," is similar to singles. Both players play their own disc and take the better score on each hole.

In Alternating Shot, players take turns throwing throughout the course. If one player makes the putt, the other player drives on the next hole.

Rules for Doubles

Approved by the PDGA Rules Committee

Best Shot

Either player may elect not to play a particular hole or throw a particular shot. His/her partner may play the hole as a single player (no extra shots). In case of injury or disqualification, one partner may play alone.

Players may take a reasonable amount of time to pick which lie they want before the 30 seconds starts.

A lie that is picked up without being marked is gone forever; the team must throw from the other lie. If, after picking up a lie, the team picks up their second lie, the second lie will be replaced in accordance with PDGA rules. All lies must be marked according to PDGA rules.

The first player to throw from a legal lie has determined the team's lie. His/her partner must throw from the same lie. If one player throws from an incorrect lie (for example, another team's lie), his/her partner may still play from the correct lie.

Any practice throws count as that player's next competitive attempt.

Best Disc

Either player may elect not to play a particular hole. Or throw a particular shot. His/her partner may play the hole as a single player (no extra shots). In case of injury or disqualification, one partner may play alone.

The player who is away {among all players on the card} must always throw first, with this exception: if the away player and his/her partner are lying the same number of strokes, they may choose to have the closer partner throw first.

A player must pick up once it is impossible for him/her to better the team's score. Warning for first violation, one stroke for subsequent violations by a player.

Any practice throws count as that player's next competitive attempt.

Alternating Shot

If a team throws out of order, another team must call it immediately, like a footfault. Warning and correct player throws. Subsequent violations are one stroke.

A player who commits a stance violation that requires a rethrow must rethrow it (partner does not rethrow).

General

If a player calls a stance violation that requires a confirmation, it must be confirmed by a member of another team or an official, not by his/her partner.

Hope some of you can make it...

Oh yeh...I need 2 more baskets out there by 10:30am on Sunday....Call me.

Hi everyone!
Want to thank you all for your attendance at the January Minis and thanks to the folks who came to the meeting.
We also wish to thank Scottie & Cassie
for hosting the meeting.

We now have a new Vice President which is Ken Barber. :D
Ken and his wife Linda are very involved with Disc Golf and have been for quite some time. They have also been involved with TDGA from the start and help out anytime we need it. They help to promote the club locally and out of town while they are participating in PDGA events throughout the state. They are also pretty good Disc Golfers!

Our new Treasurer / Secretary is Tina Syme. :D
Tina has also been highly active with TDGA and Disc Golf for several years. Her Disc Golf skills have improved greatly and her distance and control are becoming very consistent. Tina's skills with clerical work will benefit TDGA greatly, she is very organized and highly motivated.
Tina has volunteered to invite any new ladies who want to learn Disc Golf to come out and play.
Contact Tina to schedule your ladies only outing ! :)[email protected]

Both of these new officials will be a great asset to TDGA.

And yes Joey Roper is still the
President. Thank you all !

As of right now we have a total of 16 members !
Last year we ended with 35 members.
Lets make this year the biggest so far ! :D

The Sonsorship / Donation proposals will be out soon.
If you know anybody that might be interested I can give you a proposal. The Program is limited to 5 Sponsors only.

We would like to thank everyone who came out to help. You all did a great job !

This Saturday the 13th is the next work day and we really need a lot of help. We will be pouring concrete for the tee boxes and setting in the new baskets.

Work starts at 8:00am. This is very important to be on time. If everyone shows up late it puts to much work on the people there and slows down the entire process. We have to get these boxes poured this Saturday so please be on time.

Bring gloves, your lunch, and your discs to play a round after the work is complete.

The descriptions are as follows, both are DGA Mach III's. The first one is the practice basket with the DGA logo on the nuber plate and various stickers on the pole inside the chain assembly. The second is Hole 18's basket with the number 18 in bright red on the number plate.
