Has anyone thrown one of these babies yet? I saw them on E-bay, I have not had a chance to throw one! Are they stable like the FX?? Something that you can rip a 2 finger with, or throw into a 60MPH wind and not have to worry about flipping??

I must know too.
I have thrown them, and I bought two, but I have yet to find out about the headwind or give them a good 2 finger rip. I can tell you that they fly like firebirds and they have an amazing amount of glide.
Z xtreme fellas, nough said!
Hey Phil, that crap's not funny anymore. At least, not on threads to discuss Innova discs. Like school on Saturday, no class.

Poo Poo Extreme.... I want a disc that wants to fly not fall to the ground..........
Phil, I'm sure coming on an INNOVA discussion board will convince everyone to switch to discraft. I just ordered a bunch of them. LL

Ask Shannon Fosdik how the Proline Firebirds throw. He was out at Circle R2 this weekend and throwing them one a lot and believe me, this is the course to test the strong arm against the long pin placements with lots-o-headwind.
Asked Shannon Friday night about them. He says yes, they're FX overstable.

sorry to wake a sleeping thread,
just got a pro candy FB and it flies like a FL.
is that true or am I just huge.

It is an FL, the Pro Firebird is not using the regular Firebird mold, but the FL mold for greater glide and durability.

I threw one of these a couple times at Round Rock with a little headwind (15+) and the sucker just flipped over and didnt want to come back. Got rid of it ASAP.
I'm hoping those Star Firebirds are more stable or overstable.

Nice Fast.
I'll keep it around when I can throw my wraith....with no wind.

The FB mold is like the old FX mold. The FL is like the F and/or FL mold. More glide with the FL.
They are making both FB and FL molds in Star plastic. SO I think the FB Stars will be stable pigs. I can't wait.

I must add my .02--
There are 2 firebird molds.
FL-Different, less stable firebird.(run in CE, pro line candy, and new pro)
F, FX, FB-All same mold, labeled differently (like Valk=VK, VL are the same mold, or Teebird=T, TB are the same mold) this was run in CE, DX and CHampion

I have one of those proline candy Firebirds not sure if its FL, FB, F or what , but that disc will take on any head wind and fly straight and fade left. My champ firebirds are all stable pigs. I need more candy proline FB.

The candy pro line I have isn't an FL.

xterramatt was talking about the Pro Firebirds.
The ProLine Firebirds are in the FX mold. The only FLs that I think were made were in the CE plastic and Pro plastic.

would you say the Champion Starfire (aka: Starfire X) is a lot like a Pro Firebird (FL) only faster and longer?
Plankeye
Mar 17 2006, 01:02 AM
I would say the SL is more like the FL.
I would say the SX is a a longer and faster mix of the FL and FX

i think Dave D said the Starfire is like a longer faster Teebird and the SL a longer faster TL. comments?
please pardon the thread drift...

A thought the logner faster teebird was the teerex :)
I guess depending on the thrower it will behave like different discs.

I've only throw the pro starfire and CFR SL, but I don't think those discs behave anything like an FL. I use them for tunnel shots, and I don't think I've ever used a firebird for that.

My cfr starfire (04 bowling green open, so I think it's a SX) is pretty straight with moderate low speed fade. not hardly as much high speed turn.
As compared to the procandy FB, the low speed fade is dramatically higher with the FB than the SX.

I used my 1st run FL for tunnel shots until I couldn't throw it full speed anymore.

Are you talking about the "Pro" - 2005 blend. The new stuff that was originally put out in FL mold...
I saw one in FB recently, blew my mind...

WHERE?!?!
Ok, Im pretty much a newbie, so your patience will be appreciated. I bought a Pro Firebird the other day. Which mold is it and what is the diffrence?
Plankeye
Mar 19 2006, 07:26 AM
If it is a Pro Firebird(opaque-non candy) it is the FL mold
Thanks for the information but i still have one more question. Does the mold make much of a diffrence in the firebirds or are they pretty close to the same?
padobber
Mar 19 2006, 10:13 AM
There is a pretty big difference in the molds, the older pro line Firebirds are the FL mold, it has the flat lip so it is less over stable than the regular Firebird mold
So the only way i can get a regular firebird is to buy one in candy plastic?
Plankeye
Mar 19 2006, 11:08 AM
Or a dx firebird
AviarX
Mar 19 2006, 11:57 AM
The Pro Firebirds are FL's which means they are less overstable and therefore longer. The more overstable Champ Firebirds are going to fall out of the sky faster because they have an even greater tendency to dive to the left (right-handed backhand throw) unless given a lot of torque to hold that off from happening.
The new STAR Firebirds will be out soon if you prefer the grippiness of Pro over Champion...

Mar 19 2006, 01:36 PM
yeah It was really weird I found it in a store in Vancouver...
I thought pro firebirds were only FL... but this not only said FB, it was definitely the overstable mold.

if you are new player both discs should act very close to the same.
Although the champion firebird and pro firebird have 2 different lips they are still firebirds and as a new player i wouldn't think that you would be able to notice the difference.
If you want a firebird that lives up to it's reputation and is a disc that will always fade left hard (for a righty) you should look into getting a Champion firebird or waiting until the Firebird (FB or FX mold) comes out in star plastic.
Your firebird will probably dive out left for you anyway and will continue to do that until it beats in a lot.

Thanks for the info. I can throw with a little power but only being 15 I will probably stay with the FL mold. Thanks for your help.
