I think we should change the name of that disc to "manhole cover".

AWESOME can't WAIT.. THANK YOU KEITH..
I look forward to checking out the Z version. I had been using a z-extra. Couldn't believe how when hitting off rocks and cement it never chunked very much if at all. The problem with my z-extra was that the dome came up on it within a couple months and it lost its overstability. The dissappointment was big enough for me to break out one of my first run extremes. Figured I'd go through those and then figure out what to get next. I'll try out the Z-extreme, hopefully it won't lose it's original shape so quickly as did the Z-extra.
How a disc flies when it is new is interesting but to me but not that important. Most important thing is to me is how does it fly when broken in. The sweetest discs are the ones that age like wine. I've never thrown a wasp, but I guarantee I'd like it five times more than comet. A comet is such an awesome disc when new but that's it. Few hits get me another, and another. Now I'd probably want to hit trees and stuff with a wasp for weeks or even months before it was too flippy to be predictable. Great call making the wasp. Can't understand why it wasn't released many years ago. New players can choose between a roc and a wasp. Don't think many roc throwers will convert. Mostly only the ones who want a CE roc and don't want to pay fundraising prices for one will try a z-wasp.
Keith are they going to be as flat as the older ones were? The flatter the better.E-Mail at critter7l4d@hotmail,I have a few questions for you.

The Discraft guy just declared that he's sending out the "most overstable disc on the market" and none of the RAM-ites chimed in? (I guess they're all too busy with the DROT talk, etc.!!)
I still have 180g RAMs in the basement. They make my arm hurt just looking at them . . . I've never (nor will I probably ever) thrown one.
I just remember how incredibly whiny all the RAM-heads were for them.

Talk about stable, I made these billit aluminum trophies out of an extreme mold. Some of these you guys have seen at the memorial. Climo threw the one he won.
Finally the Z-Xtreme! My prayers are answered- Thankyou Keith ! I can't wait to get my hands on one! I'll probably buy 10 or 20 for fear that you guys will take it away.
Yeah, but Russ those were a tad over the weight limit, and I don't think they'd pass the flexibility test.
Paul, I am one of the less vocal Ram guys, and I have an Extreme but found it to have nowhere near the amount of glide I get with a Ram. Maybe a Z-Extreme would be different, but I know the Z-Xtra I have glides about as well as a pumpkin, so I won't hold my breath.
The X-Storm, however, is another story. I really like that disc.
I thought that some RAM-heads said that the Xtreme had too much glide and was too fast when compared to the RAM. I could be wrong though.
Speaking of metal discs, Romine has actually played a few rounds on the Tucson course with pizza pans. Brian, what's your best score?
Speed? Glide? An Xtreme or now a Z-Xtreme is a specialty trick disc. It's not a distance disc. This is a great disc for side arm shots when you want a hard right fade (low ceiling) or any side arm shot in general and it's great for learning side arm. This is also a great disc for forehand rollers. Throw it hard and it wont flip. It will go straight and roll forever. Try it! It's also great for trick/ get out of trouble shots. Anyway-----I'm phyched about it!!!!!!

Jim you always take the fun out of everything.
Robc, it's also pretty nice for backhand when you have an 80 mph headwind and OB on the right side of the fairway.
Greg, it could be the way I throw. I use the Ram for forehands (esp. rollers, they stand up and roll for days), spike hyzers, and skip shots. Thrown with some annie I find they also work well for BH (especially into the wind). While the Xtreme obviously handles the wind well, in my hands all it did was drop, and rollers seemed to die too soon. Maybe I don't get enough snap to make it work like it should...
It was a few holes, Jim. 500 grams was too heavy on the elbow. Never have thrown Russ's metal extreme. Don't have the desire to toss around my only disc golf trophy.

I just weighed one. 387gms, custom painted(like in dripping wet) Kenny threw his cause it was only a 2nd place one. He has lots of 1st place ones.
I have a background in baseball and I throw forhand roller on some occasions and a lot of sidearms. I have never tried the Ram, but the best thing for me is an Xtreme for forhand rollers, because they don't flip as easy as other stuff (Ce Firbirds and Z-Predators flip much easier) and I have to throw them at like 45 degrees to keep them from flipping. Anyway, give me the most stable thing you can find, and I'll find a good use for it. A Z-Xtreme sounds perfect, and It shouldn't loose it's stability as quickly after a few tree's.

Try the Ram, Robc. The big diameter gives it an edge in rolling.

So i was digging through some old threads trying to find some images for our favorite message board moderator Jeff La when i stumbled upon this 5 year old thread.
I'd like to see Circle D make some more Z-Xtremes. Anybody else care to see another run of Z-Xtremes? Or what about ESP Xtremes?
Oh BTW Jeff, i found 3 of those flowering images and i haven't even searched the club affiliate threads.

I don't think that they quit making them, they just don't need to run them often. They are hard to lose and never break in. When people have a tough time finding them I bet they will run more.

They were discontinued completely 4 years ago. There was a special run of signature Z-Xtremes after Timmy Gill won the NT at the Memorial in 2004.
They do last pretty much forever, holding their stability longer than any disc i've ever thrown. I actually have to force myself to change them out of the bag every 2 years.
