Bummer, that's all I throw.

Oct 04 2002, 04:36 PM
yep. I was throwing JK Valks on some soccer fields yesterday. Crushing straight ahead with hyzer, they would look real good for the first couple hundred feet and then ....there goes the slow right turn that just keeps turning. DOH! My CE Valks should last into the first half of next year. Dave will break under the pressure of everone whining before then. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Oct 04 2002, 04:53 PM
Ahh, Dave has explained that they're just being moved to the KC line. Same discs, different name, hopefully.

Oct 04 2002, 07:01 PM
Randy,,, did you yell at any soccer nazi's to get off of the field? :') good luck in Red Rock

Oct 04 2002, 08:54 PM

Oct 04 2002, 11:33 PM
The new KC t-birds are fast and stable. My biggest concern is with the Firebird. Are they going to make these in the new KC line? The old KC Firebirds stunk the place up, but this new plastic is different. I do not want to throw DX F-birds at all! A few big spike hyzers and you have a new roller!! What is the Word on the F-bird???

Innova East mentioned a high possibility that a new Pro Line FireBird is on the drawing board.

Not providing CE Firebirds (or equivilant)is discrimination against forehand throwers everywhere....and Finnish people.

Gatorking, the Firebird is up after the Valkyrie. It will not be like the original KCs. There will be a pro version, and probably a candy version too.

Oct 07 2002, 09:16 AM
I just wish I could get a stability estimate on the new candy valks. /msgboard/images/clipart/sad.gif I have been unsuccessful in finding anymore CE valks that are in my weight range, and am probably going to have to change to the new ones. How do they compare with the CE's? Also, how do they hold up compared to the CE plastic? Anyone? Please?

Oct 07 2002, 10:03 AM
well, I have a new translucent jk pro valk. I slammed into a tree with a thumber, did not scratch the thing /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif. but still all over the place in the air. see randy wimms post above. going to take a little time getting a handle on it.

Oct 07 2002, 10:40 AM
Jason, based on my highly inconsistent throwing ability, I'd say the new see-through JK Valks are just a tad more overstable than a standard DX Valk. This would make them just a tad less overstable than the latest CE Valks I have purchased (kind of milky white from 3 or 4 months ago).

As for durability, sorry, I've only done open throwing on a soccer field.

That sounds perfect, ROdney. I've got a new 168g that I need to go throw to see how it flies.

What will become of the wind master CE Firebird FX, and no, it's not the same as the regular CE Firebird?

Oct 08 2002, 09:17 AM
FX is MORE overstable, than a normal F or FL.

davei
Oct 08 2002, 10:36 AM
F and FX are the same. FL is different. Originally, all CE FireBirds were FL type. The FireBirds weren't necessarily marked FL. To differentiate, we added an X to designate the more stable type of F when we started to get runs that weren't stable enough. For future runs, F means FX, and FL means FL.

By far my favorite disc. I throw it better than any other disc in the bag. I have two in my bag and a few backups. Picked up a Star Leopard today, but it is much domier. Doubt it will fly similarly.

I also carry a couple old CE firebirds, but I dont notice a big difference in flight between those and the newer champion ones.

Yup, forgot I still carry and use the CE Spider in my home course bag. I know it's considered CE but mine is that pearlescent variety/run that is pretty soft, similar to Champion runs. Started out Pearl White and is now Pearl Pink, I guess from UV exposure. BTW I have only one of those CE Spiders stuck aside, but use Champion Spiders of the same weight interchangeably and don't really see a difference in flight.

The disappearance of CE plastic is the closest thing the disc golf world has seen to an X-file :D. I have heard quite a few conspiracy theories that have as much intuitive merit as the official Innova responses to the subject. The Truth is Out There....

I have two excellent condition CE Leopards that I still throw. Played on a card with Barry at Live Oak a few weeks ago, and saw him throwing his CE Leopard also.

I have several unthrown CE Firebirds (FX and F)...but I'm still going through my stash of old school Pro Line Firebirds (which I prefer to the CE Firebirds for thumbers).

All of my CE Valks are in a closet at home (none new/unthrown).

Why was the CE plastic discontinued?

poisonelf
Jan 03 2007, 11:42 AM
For many reasons the first is it most discs barley qualified under the current PDGA standards (due to how ridged the plastic was), 2 there were expensive to make with a high number of X-outs/defects, 3 they were too durable (can't make any money if no one is buying new discs).

Why was the CE plastic discontinued?

From the source: the reason CE plastic was discontinued was because the material that was used to make the discs is no longer available.
