We know all about the big guys who are serving life for murder one. They do time all year and maybe work for a license plate factory on the side.

My question is: Who is the lifer who doesn't play that many tournaments, is maybe unmarried and has a few kids by several different women, has a "real" job unrelated to disc golf, and comes out and competes with the top players but has no talent, no skill, never practiced, and shows that he's never handled a golf disc before?

Rodney Dangerfield, great sense of style and would have awesome disc bag.

Here's a thread that never got no repsect. Drug out of the archives. :)

I think there are a lot of lifers that never display much skill.

That's why the ratings based system (although it should be a tad more restrictive, imo) is a good idea, and the win and move up mentality stinks.

Have fun.

holy crap!! so who wins the award??

I'm not goona name 'em, that would be rude.

I don't know about lifer, but in five years I never got any better, whether I played 25 tourneys a year or none.

One of the reasons I pretty much stopped playing competitive events.

I know a few other guys who still play casually, but never improved in tournament play, so they just don't do it anymore.

I like the players that have been playing Adv. Masters for 10+ years in a row. They haven't really gotten much better, and they'll probably never move beyond that division unless it is to Pro GM when they turn 50.

I'm pretty much one of those, Luke, except for the 10+ years part. I know some of my OMB buds who would qualify.

But we still have the most fun of any division.

I wonder if Morgan even remembers starting this thread nearly 5 years ago? :)

I'm sorry Jeff. As much as I like you, I must disqualify you from this category.

Nothing personal, but it would just be unseemly to allow a lifer/worst golfer candidate who has a world championship on his resume.

Gotta draw the line somewhere.

If it makes you feel better, you have certainly sucked ever since. :)

Atwood, you played much much better than reported at Worlds in Des Moines. So you must've gotten better somewhere along the lines.

Now me, I peaked in 2002 with a 935 rating. But I don't qualify because I hide out in whatever division I can. That rules out the "crappiest player who plays against the best." :)

Jon, Brett and I are all thinking the same name right now! I don't think it would be polite to name names. And if a person works his [*****] off to install and maintain courses, he can have any rating he wants, play one tournament a year in the Open division, occasionally post something completely assinine on PDGA.com, and its all good.

Well, I would think for sure with that note you are talking about me ..... :D

But, as Magilla so astutely pointed out in one of those posts, I don't really work that hard ;)

So it must be him :o:D ..... excpet he plays better than me

I did play with this guy sometime back. I was asked to keep a watch on him. He fell off the tee pad while driving , he was so exausted from diving , he started playing the wrong holes.
I had thrown a Valk driver on a hole , another guy in the group threw a driver as well. This guy , picked up his putter and drove it 20 feet off the tee. I was concerned for his wellbeing and ability to finish the tournament.
