The Temple Disc Golf Club has a singles mini on the first Sunday of each month and a doubles on the third Sunday of each month. Practice rounds start at 10:30am with the mini beginning at 1:00pm.

Feb 28 2003, 10:24 PM
Does anyone up north own a digital camera? I would love to post photos of the course if someone wants to take them...
...I can't seem to make any time to get up there. I'm <BLINK>SOUTHSIDE</BLINK> all the way now, almost.

Feb 28 2003, 10:46 PM
Man, that was way off thread.
Go check out this course. The map makes the course look great. I found a b/w aerial photo at one point, but I lost a hard drive. I'm going to have to find the time to get up there.
http://www.go-parks.net/default.htm. Nice clean job on the website.

There. Back on track.

Mar 02 2003, 11:11 PM
Just got home from the mini at Temple. We had 18 players turnout with 9 each in novice and am divisions. Joey Harrell showed me how to grip the disc properly last weekend and so I placed first in the novice division today. Joey you the man. All 5 players on my card were within 3 strokes of each other so we had some good competition. I got to meet Mike
Wilson who runs the minis in Temple. Helluva nice guy and Joey Roper good to seen you again my friend after all these years. I will post all the scores as soon as Mike sends me the info. The doubles mini at Temple will be in two weeks. Next weekend I will be back at Cameron Park East to help Joey and George and the rest of the gang get the new course ready for the Waco Charity Open at the end of the month. Later dudes.

Mar 03 2003, 12:10 PM
Congratulations Billy. I hope your poison ivy is better. Sorry the Waco crew couldn't make it to Temple this week. But once the main work at Cam East is done, we will be regulars. Keep up the good work Mike Wilson and the Temple gang.

Mar 03 2003, 01:59 PM
Joey need some new plastic so please bring some to CPE next weekend. Thanks again.

Mar 03 2003, 02:02 PM
Poison ivy is a little better but stayed home from work so it is not all bad. Leaves of three let be.

Mar 04 2003, 12:33 AM
ivy has claimed another victim...me. it's all good though, see you this weekend billy. if anyone else in temple wants to come help,we'd really appreciate it,and i'd be able to stand around and itch my ivy.

Mar 04 2003, 04:32 PM

Simon-64
Dwayne-64
Am:
Joey Roper-62
Don't forget doubles mini next weekend at Temple.

Mar 08 2003, 11:04 PM
Sorry to hear someone has stolen the #7 basket from the course. What a shame we have punkazz thiefs who even know where a disc golf course is located. They should just stay in their crack houses and off our courses. Any info on the culprits would be much appreciated. Don't bother calling the cops we will deal out our own brand of justice.

Mar 09 2003, 10:12 AM
The 16th is doubles starting at 1:00.

Mar 10 2003, 12:03 AM
thank you for the info

Mar 13 2003, 08:16 PM
Y'all are invited to play doubles at Temple this Sunday @ 1pm. Mike Wilson and the gang usually show up around 10:30 to ice down the brew and throw some practice rounds before the mini. I think a good day of disc golf would be to play the mini and then go to CPE and try out the new course but that just one man's opinion.

Mar 13 2003, 08:44 PM
make it 2/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif.

Mar 15 2003, 07:59 PM
I really enjoyed helping out at the new course in Cameron Park today. Joey, George, and Charlie are good people. I hope everyone can make it out to Temple tomorrow for the doubles mini that starts at 1pm. Grip it and rip it.

Apr 04 2003, 06:05 PM
Disc golf is alive an well in the great basketball state of Texas. The Pecan Park open is this weekend. The Lago mini is Sunday and our Temple mini is also Sunday. We start at 1 so come on an join us as we grow disc golf in Temple. I just spoke to Mike Wilson and he has an exciting news for all Central Texas DGERS. I will refrain from spilling the beans until Mike makes his annoucement at the mini on Sunday. See y'all then.

Apr 05 2003, 11:27 AM
Oooh, I love disc golf surprises. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Since I don't get to go to the 1st Sunday Temple minis, someone please be sure to fill me in later.

Apr 06 2003, 12:22 AM
i already know what's goin on, but i ain't sayin diddley/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif.

Apr 06 2003, 06:30 AM
George nice 3 on #16 today at CPE. I am gonna start making noise and waving like they do when someone is shooting free throws. What's next a 2? Mike is unable to post because of technical problems but he will be at the course early tomorrow unless he forgets the time change. We don't start until 1pm so you out-of-towners have time to drive on up or down and join in the fun.

Apr 06 2003, 10:10 AM
not to mention that i bettered my personal record by 2 strokes/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif,could've been a 55 if the putt for 4 on 17 would've stuck, but i'll take the 56 and like it. i got it in for hole 14 @ temple i want that 3!!!

Apr 06 2003, 08:57 PM
I forgot to mention Lance's incredible shot on #14. He was in bad shape after his second shot landed out by the road behind those huge trees. Somehow he finds room in between the limbs and throws a rocket into the basket for 3. George did you get your 3 on #14 at Temple?
So here's the BIG NEWS Mike Wilson gave us today at the mini. There will be a second a disc golf course installed at Lions Park in Temple. This will not happen overnight because the entire park is under renovation but eventually we will have 18 holes in the woods with lots of changes in elevation. These courses will be about 15 minutes apart so hopefully someone will bring a PDGA tourney to town after the Lions park course is complete. Goodnight.

Apr 06 2003, 10:24 PM
Wow, way to go City of Temple!

Apr 06 2003, 10:40 PM
Hey guys do I have my dung together yet?

Apr 07 2003, 06:19 PM
Big thanks go to Mike again.

He showed myself and Cris Hicks around Saturday on the beautifully manicured greens of the Rotary Club 18 hole course in Temple. If you have not played this course, I would make an effort to. Lots of big D but not too open(Houck Creation) and nicely mowed lawns with the "moon rock" patches on some holes. Concrete pads on both pro and am boxes. Tee signs that are well out of swinging distance.
The little things that are nice. /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

Apr 07 2003, 08:59 PM
Mike you will never have your dung altogether but you run a heck of a fun mini. Joey Harrel wins open by parking his drive on the first playoff hole with George. Jimi(What's his last name) forces me to watch his first ace on #11 and then wins am in a playoff. Jimi will be moving up in class at the next mini. BTW the course looked great. The grass was green and freshly mowed. Now let's get started on the course in Lions Park. Mike is forming a group to help design the new course. Everybody is welcome to put in their suggestions so come play Temple and then visit Lions Park to help scout out the new holes.

Apr 07 2003, 09:38 PM
gollygeewiz dgers, thanks for the pat on the back for doing something for the next olympics. i had the privelage of meeting the womens winner from the waco open and her husband who was 12 in mens open at temple today while i was installing inner chains. SURPRISE!!! we all had a good time, sorry their names cant be posted, but i'm old. there are several of the temple crew that are going to convoy to waco sunday. i look forward to a little constructive criticism.

NEVER SKEERED.. what's going on this Sunday up there? maybe me and DEER Slayer (kreke) can sneak up for a round.

Apr 08 2003, 10:36 PM
c'mon up, cause the baskets on the front 9 are gonna get pulled up in 2 weeks for 2 events (drag boat races & cinco de mayo) at the park, then they'll get put back in 1 week before am weekend, but the back 9 will still be there the whole time. bring krikey up and we'll drink a couple. get in touch (evolyeknom@hotmail.com).

Apr 08 2003, 11:40 PM
Hey people, I would like some info, not trash about a course being equipped with locally produced targets. These are jig made. I will try to bring one sunday. What I want to know is if this would be legal? I really would like facts, not trash. You can respond here or my E-mail. oneag01@vvm.com

Hey Mike, great to meet you Monday. Thanks for the course tour and frosties. This Rotary sponsored course in South Temple is a beauty. A quality John Houck design in a park that has Ball Golf likeness. Given the flat terrain, some very nice looking holes amongst the manicured green pastures and meandering creek. Two concrete tees per hole. Highly recommended. Make sure you stop in town and don't be afraid to tell local business', chamber, visitor center you came to town to play Disc Golf. I see Temple having some big time community support for a tournament in the future.
Funny how our games both improved as you added those much needed inner chains.

Is the mini going to be held on Easter Sunday? If so I'll see you there, but I should be out on the course anyway.

Apr 09 2003, 09:57 PM
Gonna be an early easter egg hunt at my house. Can't be conflicting with the mini now can we. Mike, your cell phone fixin to ring.

Apr 10 2003, 12:33 AM
Hey people thanks for the feedback, what I really want to know is the rule stating. Enough. OK pickle boy the show is on for SUNDAY. I will be at the shelter by 9:00. Don't chicken out.

Apr 10 2003, 12:41 AM
I forgot to add I will not have a mini, but that I will be there.

Apr 10 2003, 02:01 AM
it is a fact....it will glow.

Apr 10 2003, 02:04 AM

Mark, George had an extra bi-cep surgically implanted so he could get a 3 on #16. Now that shows a love for the game.

Apr 12 2003, 10:51 AM
alright,alright....i did, and it was real expensive mind you, but don't be spreading my secret weapons around, or everyone will be payin everyone to say they're the BOMB/msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif.

Apr 12 2003, 11:01 AM
some ROCKET scientist stole 1/2 the inner chains on #15 at regular cameron. the basket is there, outer chains are there, but there are only 3 or 4 chains left on the inside. i'm reminded on a daily basis that there are a heap of RETARDED-(no offense to those who are truly handicapped)-people in this world that would be better off playing in heavy traffic wearing a blindfold.

Apr 20 2003, 11:41 AM
The mini doubles has been cancelled due to Easter. Mike Wilson will still be at the course today if you want to play some practice rounds. I will be hiding easter eggs. Played the course yesterday and it is good to see the Parks Dept. is keeping the course well groomed. Thanks go out to the Temple folks for getting behind disc golf in a big way. It will be a long haul but eventually the second course will be installed at Lions Park. Hope to have a good showing from Temple players at the Waco Am weekend May 10&11th. Later.

May 06 2003, 09:08 PM

Well hello, everyone. First of all I would like to give Joey Harrell an enormous pat on the back for A job well done. Joey, you the man. There is some information that was on my machine at the office Monday morning. For those of you that I talked to about the BBQ cook-off in Temple this weekend, its been cancelled. Do not fret we have decided to have A short clean-up, and then a little skinnin. The reason for the clean-up. Last week my brother-in-law brought his tractor and box blade and he and I took turns knocking down the moon rocks. Anybody that has played Temple knows what I am talking about. So any of you that were planning for BBQ & disc golf come on down Sat. 10:00 AM help clean up and skin. I have talked to Joey Roper and his place is still on for Sat. night. A special thanks to Rockin John for the recliner this past weekend. Contact me at oneag01@vvm.com or 254-624-6043

May 13 2003, 11:13 PM
C'mon Mike you don't remember whose house you crashed at Saturday nite. I think knocking down the moon rocks lowers the par by two strokes. I will be playing in the Z10 at Live Oak on the 24th if anybody else is going let me know so we can hook up. See you Sunday at 1:00 pm for mini doubles.

May 13 2003, 11:54 PM
OK birdman, I do remember most of the weekend, but it was all good. If I get enough feedback about the clean-up I might be forced to bring out the mini pit to show my thanks to all who show up. Besides, if you don't show for work day I might be forced to keep your 11th place prize for ransom.

May 14 2003, 12:01 AM
i'll be in Austin at the COTO so i won't see you guys this weekend unless you go to Austin.later.

May 14 2003, 09:59 AM
Nody leaving town for a tournament? Wow! /msgboard/images/clipart/happy.gif

May 14 2003, 12:04 PM
Anyone that sees Nody on I-35 in Waco with his thumb out please give him a ride to Austin on Friday. Thanks.

May 14 2003, 12:07 PM
Mike I will try to make it on Saturday. How big is that 11th place trophy?

May 18 2003, 09:01 AM
Ok we are playing our monthly singles mini in Temple today at 1pm. Entry is $5 w/$2 ace pot. Heads up to all, Mike will change the time on the mini starting the first weekend in July. The mini will be played on Saturdays at 10am to avoid some of the wonderful Texas heat. Mike, I will be out there early today for some much needed practice say around 9am. Anybody else going to Live Oak next weekend? Of the board and onto the course.

May 18 2003, 09:02 AM
off

May 18 2003, 11:18 AM
Correction today's mini is random draw doubles.

May 20 2003, 02:01 PM
Ok after the mini on Sunday(hot as h*ll) Mike has decided that beginning on the 2nd Sat. in June our monthly mini will start at 10am. We will have our doubles mini on the 4th Sat. of June at 10am. Thanks to my doubles partner Joey "BOOM BOOM" ROPER for dragging me around the course for a 2nd place finish in the mini. I will post complete results soon. If you can make it please come to Live Oak this Sat. for the Z10 supporting the Lance Armstrong Foundation fighting the war against cancer. Big thanks to Mike Wilson for allowing me to run my first mini. It was fun and I learned a lot but probably not enough.

May 20 2003, 10:38 PM
bman, wrong info! The Temple mini will change beginning in June to the 2nd Saturday of the month ,with singles @ 10:30 start. Anyone intererested in random draw doubles at around 1ish after lunch, I will be there. By the way, I have got your net.

Jun 23 2003, 08:44 PM
Mike how does Saturday about daylight look for a little cleanup at the Temple course. I know you'll have to stay up all night to get up that early but man it gets hot quick. Onward thru the fog.

Aug 10 2003, 11:50 PM
Well, How'd it go? I had to meet my fam in Wacko to pickup my squids and I couldn't make it. Turnout? Winners? Scores?
