Oh and FREE BEER
We will have a couple of kegs Saturday night (thank you Tramps and the Stair Family), plus we have a bunch of delicious beer from Austin Beerworks which will be enjoyed Friday night (but we will save some for Saturday as well).
Friday Doubles:
Friday October 12th, flex start 1 pm 5:30-ish. However, those starting after 5:00 or so are likely to finish in the dark. We will have glowsticks on the baskets, and red LED lights available for purchase, so be prepared.
Open to everyone, $13 per person (includes $5 greens fee for the day), bring your own partner. There will be an optional ace pot, $2 per person. If no aces are hit on Friday then the money will go towards the fundraising.
More Women Players wanted: We have 9 women players already, but we would really like some more. All women receive extra stuff in their players pack, we have a CTP each round for women only, we pay out 100% of the women who play (sure, last place in a division may not get much, but she will get something).
Available spots for singles & Check-in and Registration times:
Friday afternoon late registration and check-in time: 3 pm till dark. Tournament HQ is just a little ways inside the gate (cant miss it).
Saturday morning late registration and check-in time: between 7:30 8:30 am at HQ.
There are still spots available for the tournament, about 25 or so, just call the club cell phone to reserve your spot, 512-994-9508, or email me at
[email protected] (but if you going to email, you must do it by 5:30 pm tomorrow - Thursday, Oct 11th - after that I wont have email access).
Normally for Waterloo we do not hold spots. However, with this being ACL and UT/OU weekend and all, we have enough available that we will do it. If you call or email for a spot, we do expect you to show up for it. You MUST be there either Friday afternoon between 3 pm and dark or Saturday morning between 7:30 8:30 am (the earlier the better, please).
If you are already registered and fully paid, you must also be there either Friday afternoon between 3 pm and dark or Saturday morning between 7:30 8:30 am to check in. At 8:30 am Saturday, we drop anyone who hasnt showed up, fill the spots from the waitlist (if we have one by then), finalize the cards, and get going.
Juniors who want to play Waterloo: We will register Juniors on Friday during check-in or on Saturday morning during the first round. Juniors will play one round per day in-between the main rounds. The cost is $20 and theyll receive some stuff for signing up plus well make sure that every kid who plays wins at least something. The number of kids and their ages will determine whether we have different divisions or not.
Parking:
Parking should not be difficult this weekend (unless there is a lot of rain). We will have a parking area set up. If you are camping, your car goes in the parking area. You can pull up at least close to your spot to unload your stuff (and well have some wheelbarrows that can be used), but then you need to move your car to the parking area. At the end of the weekend you can do the same to load up. If you want to camp by your car, you will need to camp up by the parking area (but it is fairly open up there, not as many trees). If there is a lot of rain and the farm is too muddy for cars, then parking will be along the road (Redbird Lane), but we will have carts and/or wheelbarrows available to help you bring in your camping stuff (same as camping at Circle R in Wimberley).
If you are driving out to the Farm each day you can park on Redbird Lane and walk in. If you prefer, you can use the parking area for campers. Either way, you can drive in to HQ, drop your stuff off, and then move your car.

Camping: Camping is $10 for the weekend (whether both Friday and Saturday night or just Saturday night)
Food for Sale: Martin Rendon and his cousin will be there selling breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday, and lunch on both Saturday and Sunday. The menu will be:
breakfast Saturday: brisket, egg and cheese tacos
lunch Saturday: hamburgers with pasta salad and all the fixins
breakfast Sunday: ham, egg and cheese sandwich and fruit
lunch Sunday: smoked chicken, potato salad and baked beans and bread.
When can you play the course if you arent in the tournament?
For those folks that aren't playing doubles or singles, and want a chance to play the course, there are the usual lunch breaks on Saturday & Sunday when the players will be off the course. The Juniors will be playing the course then, but that is usually only a card or two or three. Youll need to stop playing when you hear the two minute warning for the afternoon round. You can also play in the late afternoon / early evening on Saturday once the 2nd round is done. The cost will just be $5 per person for greens fees.
You can also play on Friday during the doubles. We expect a good number of doubles teams, but not so many that we cant also accommodate some casual players too (though in groups no larger than 4). The cost will just be $5 per person for greens fees.
The times of the lunch breaks are hard to guess, but we hope that the course will be available around 12:30 2:30 on Saturday and noon 2:00 on Sunday.
We dont know if well be back here again next year, so this could be the one and only time to play this course.
Night Golf:
SADA (South Austin Disc Association) will be bringing out glowsticks for the baskets so you can play night golf both Friday and Saturday night! We will have some of those great red LED lights available for purchase, and Mike Schulgen will have some for sale too, or bring your own. Not much moon expected this weekend so lights on your discs will be important. Should be a TON O FUN! Due to 4 of the baskets being near the home of the owners (inside their yard), we will not play those at night (except for those players who are finishing up Friday doubles).
Fundraising:
Two Silent Auctions: We will have one auction on Saturday and second, completely separate, auction on Sunday. On Saturday morning, well put out a bunch of items on display on the deck, and there will be a bid sheet by each item. Bidding will close at the end of the day on Saturday so when your second round is over, be sure to hang around, make some final bids, and collect your winnings. Well do the same thing on Sunday with a whole new set of items, and well close Sundays auction at the beginning of the awards ceremony. The silent auctions will have all sorts of great things from the small, to the large, to the really cool collectible.
Giant Raffle: Typically our raffle has over $1,000 worth of prizes. The Grand Prize is a BASKET! Single tickets are only $2 but buy more and get a better deal: 6 tkts for $10, or 15 tkts for $20. Tickets may be purchased until the start of Round 4 on Sunday afternoon. The drawing will be held shortly after, and the winning numbers posted immediately. You can pick up your prizes any time after that. You do not need to be present to win a raffle prize. If you arent going to be there Sunday afternoon, just put your name and phone number on the back of the ticket and we will contact you after the tournament.
Ring-of-Fire: will be held Saturday afternoon, immediately before the 2nd round (hopefully about 1:30 - 2:00 pm). It is $2 to play, and all proceeds go to the fundraising. You can sign up at check-in, or all the way up to the time we start it. Ring-of-Fire is a series of putting games, and it is really fun to play. It is also fun to watch, so even if you arent playing, stick around to see it.
Everyone (staff, spectators, and players) is eligible to take part in all of these events: Proceeds from these go to the fundraising, so bring lots of extra cash and your check book.
We also will have a box at Tournament HQ all weekend to collect canned, boxed, or packaged foods, household items and every-day necessities such as toiletries, etc. These items will be used by the families that stay at the house. We will have a big box for collection, so please go through your pantry and bring out some stuff. Toys and games for the kids are also welcome.
The tournament is taking part in the PDGAs Competition Endowment Program. This means that the $2 per-player PDGA fee, plus the $10 non-active member fee, is being donated to the charity instead of going to the PDGA. Thanks PDGA!!!
McHouse Concrete Challenge: WTF (Women Throwing Frisbees) is our host this year for this fun and challenging event. It is held on one of the holes during the 4th round only (Sundays 2nd round). WTF will pay out 5-1 if you can make your disc come to rest on the picnic table or in the designated area just below it. The basket will be on top of the table, but anywhere on the table or in the ring under it will win you 5 times what you bet. Give them $1 and win $5. Give them $20 and win $100. Good Luck!
Miscellaneous:
The Tayloe Toe Throw contest will be on Sunday afternoon, right before the 4th round (hopefully about 1:00 - 1:30 pm). It is free to everyone who wants to play, and well have some prizes for the longest throws. Great to watch as well; very silly, very fun!
If you read all the way through, PHEW!!!
Cant wait to see all of you out at The Ball Farm for another wonderful Waterloooooooooooooooooooo
