Clarification on this QA.

"At this point, media evidence such as video, photos or audio clips cannot be used by officials or TDs for making rulings."

Scenario: One group was having difficulty determining if a disc was OB. They took a picture with their cell phone to get clarification from the TD when they were near Tournament Central. This QA seems to indicate that the TD cannot rule on the OB status of the disc based on the photo. Why not?

"Audio Clips"? Are people getting recorded confessions? Do we fear these confessions were made under duress, so inadmissable in court?

The RC supported any type of media evidence. However, the Board has "temporarily" rejected that position until the RC has deliberated more in depth to clarify the wording to deal with temporal issues such as video evidence of a foot fault being used when an initial call wasn't made by a player in the group within 3 seconds. The fundamental issue the Board has with using media evidence is that it's not consistently available to all players. So for the moment, no media evidence is allowed. But expect the issue to be discussed and perhaps a more liberal policy produced in time for the 2013 season.
