The 2011 edition of the Pittsburgh Scholastic Disc Golf Series kicks off with a FREE clinic put on by the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) at Knob Hill Park from 6-8 pm on Friday, August 26. Top players on the PDGA pro tour will be on hand to give demonstrations and small group lessons. Clinic participants will receive a VIP Spectator Pass for the Finals of the Scholl's Bicycle Centers Pittsburgh Flying Disc Open at 2 p.m. on Sunday Aug. 28. The first 100 spectators will receive a free golf disc from National Tour sponsor Vibram Disc Golf. Of course you may want to play in the amateur division of the SBCPFDO and can still register at www.pfds.org.

The Disc Golf Clinic and the SBCPFDO are just the beginning of the Fall season of disc golf. Attached you will find the flyer and registration form for the 2011 Scholastic Disc Golf Series, which once again includes 5 events at area courses. Three events are 36-hole tournaments -- two PDGA-sanctioned C-tier events (Knobulus Maximus and The Hunt at Deer Lakes), and the Schenley League Finals. The other two events are one 18 hole round events at Two Mile Run Extension and Moraine State Park.

Get your crew together to represent for your school in the race for the Pipe and Chains trophy! 2011 winner Allderdice High School will defend their team title, while 2011 individual champion Connor Kazmierczak from Shaler HS is the guy to beat. The more players you have from your school, the better your chances in the race for the Pipe and Chains.

The series is about more than disc golf competition, however, with everyone getting to meet and play with cool disc golfers from around the are and plenty of disc golf swag to wear and throw. Preregistering saves you money and time, so use the attached registration form to send in before September 18.
