OK - after much debate & many conversations, it's official - Outlaws will happen this year afterall. PARD approved, state coordinator approved, sanctioning sent in - ready to start taking on-line sign up & sponsorship. The 2011 Outlaws will be the last USWDGC FUNdraiser & hosted by the WTF (Women Throwing Frisbees) with assistance from the Double R Disc Golf Club. 1st open planning meeting to be held @ Zilker Park this Tuesday 5.10.11 @ 6:00. Several of us will be meeting about 4:30 for a quick round & brainstorming session. If you'd like to be a part of this event & are able to attend the meeting lemme know so I can plan for materials. If you wanna help, but can't get there - shoot me an e mail - coffeydiscgolf@yahoo.com Together we can make 2011 Outlaws a huge success - I look forward to your support.

Great planning meeting @ Zilker last night - 8 attendees with some great FUNdraising ideas. Next meeting Tuesday May 31st somewhere close so we can get the northies engaged too.

So far we know - Spet 10th & 11th, PDGA B tier, both south & north courses (USWDGC set up - hopeful this will draw people in a week early for practice), dubs to be decided closer to the event, $5 per player from the tournament & $5 a team if we do dubs & all tournament procedes to USWDGC. We'll be selling lunch & maybe breakfast both days, raffle, puTTing games, etc. If you can participate, come to the meeting Tuesay the 31st or shoot me an e mail coffeydiscgolf@yahoo.com. The WTF wants you involved - together we can make this years Outlaws GREAT!!!

This Tuesday is the north planning meeting for 2011 Outlaw's - Spet 10th & 11th Round Rock, TX run by the WTF with support from the Double R Disc Golf Club. The WTF had some great brainstorming this weekend & a few really good ideas came out of the time we spent FUNdraising & staffing together at Twin Parks. I'm eager to discuss all this with the group & hope that we can all find time to get together Tuesday the 31st @ Northtown Park. We may not be able to get in the full 18 before the meeting, but if we start around 4 & meet @ 6:00, but there's 2 short loops (1-6 & 1-11 & even 12-18) depending on the cards we can for sure get in some good holes. Please bring all your ideas - print outs, etc. for both events. We'll have the new WTF signing logo shirt available for $10.

Great meeting again last night - 11 players & 7 attending the meeting. Thanx so much to everyone for bringing such great ideas.

Here's what we don't know & I'd LOVE some input. In years past Outlaw's has not allowed Rec divisions - my thought is that we allow the Rec division, but do not have Rec or Intermediate play the defined OB on either course & add short tees on several north holes & a few south. They would only play traditional park OB. Upside - faster play, less dispute regarding where it went out, lower scores. Downside - player ratings, & turning off some of the Int players that would want to play the OB. Both of those can be eliminated by the player moving up, but... That's where I need your thoughts.

As things stand right now, here's what we know:

2011 Outlaw's run by WTF with course set up & support by Double R Disc Golf Club - a USWDGC FUNdraiser (funds go to the USWDGC, not to the WTF players entry fees)

Outlaw's Sept 10th & 11th PDGA B tier - $5 a player to USWDGC
Friday Doubles on Gold 21 @ OSP - $5 team to USWDGC
Breakfast tacos 10th & 11th by WTF - $ to USWDGC
Lunch (menu TBD) 10th & 11th by WTF - $ to USWDGC
Raffle - $ to USWDGC
Schedule - Sat 2 rounds (courses TBD closer to event - in OSP) Sun 1 round & final 9 (courses TBD closer to event - in OSP) We will run one course each day if below 80 players & will run both course both days if we're over 80 players.

Course set up -
JD Baker to head up, please get with JD if you're able to help string the rock or help set the south course baskets. He'll need 9 extra baskets - chime in if he can count on yours.
Martin - you mentioned you had stakes that could possibly be used for the stringing of the North course. Can you please show Vinnie/Edman a sample - maybe tonight?
Chris Ware - you've always been my course guy. I'd like to ask that you support JD with this as his electronic communication skills are... ...Well, they are what they are.

Registration - Patty Justice/Stephanie Allen
Team Justice will set up on line registration ASAP. I will receive snail mail entries at the house. Stephanie Allen will manage players list updates & score keeping.

Sponsorship - Both cash & merchandise (both golf & non-golf) is needed to support the tournament & raffle. We need players pack items, coupons, stickers, etc. Anything will help in the long run. It's never too early - I'm happy to store items/money as needed.

Event Promotion - Invite all your Face Book friends. Even with all the planning & food & great raffle the tournament will not be successful financially without the players. We can support a field of 160 with both courses - push me & the basket boyz by filling this baby up so we have to run both courses both days.

Next meeting somewhere central in mid June. Hope to see you all there.

OK - time to back in action full force with planning.

Outlaw's is coming quickly - only 10 weeks away (eeek). We need to get the details hammered out on it. I will be completely out of pocket the 1st week of September, so the time line is tighter than usual this year.

If you're able to help out & can make time to attend this meeting it'd be great to have you there. Otherwise, we'll work-it via e mail. I plan on playing @ 4:20 & meeting around 6ish @ the polo tables. Please bring any updates you may have as far as sponsorship you've collected, players you've got signed up, or things you can help out with so we're ensured things move smoothly.

Everyone should have the sponsorship & entry form - get them out to as many people as possible & lemme know what kind of responces you're getting.

Again - I can't thank you all enough!!!

What does the $5 to USWDGC go to??? Payout?

Lala
Jul 08 2011, 10:11 AM
Sorry if that's unclear in prior communication - I thought I was pretty specific. Outlaw's is a USWDGC FUNdraiser. All procededs from Outlaw's including the $5 donation from each players entry fee goes directly to USWDGC.

If you're asking what happens to the money once it's donated to USWDGC - they'll spend it however is needed to support the tournament just like all other donations I'd suppose.

I have asked SNDG if they'll consider allowing players that have counted on Outlaw's as a SN qualifier to "opt in" allowing me to only charge players that intend on going to SN to pay the additional $2 fee. That has been forwarded to the board for approval - should have an update on that @ Tuesday's meeting.

I originally chose not to include Outlaw's as a SN qualifier this year due to the already high fees taken out of entries ($5 USWDGC, $3 PDGA, $2 course fee, $5 ace pot) & mixed dubs was a sn qualifier, so I figured if someone was hell bent on playing SN they'd have found a lady & played in April. Player responce has been that some people were still counting on Outlaw's as their qualifier, so I've asked - worst they can do is say no.

Reason I ask - I "thought" I heard that some of the fund raisers were to pay for the enty fee for some of the women playing in the USWDGC.

Based off your response I assume this is not the case for the fund raisers you have listed.

I'm just all about transparency...

Arrow Head Park - Lago Vista - on July 30th @ is the FUNdraiser to pay for WTF entry fees to US Women's - similar to the LOLO FUNdraiser happening this weekend in LIVE OAK.

Outlaw's is a US Women's Fundraiser with the procedes going directly to US Women's.

I understand the confusion - it's happend with the LOLO FUNdraiser before & with the WTF doing so much, I want to make sure everyone knows where their money is going from each event we're hosting.

Hope to see some of you @ the planning meeting tonight for both the WTF FUNdraiser in 2 weeks & Outlaw's @ Zilker Park polo tables 6:00 - golf @ 4:20ish.

Another great meeting last night - thanx to everyone that was able to make it (relocated to Chuy's happy hour).

For Outlaw's - a few odd good things have happened. A hotel contacted me asking if I needed a host hotel. I'm still working out the details, the initial rate ($89) seemed too high for golfers. XS energy drinks contacted me & would like to have a booth at Outlaw's. I've received some cash & some merch donated to Outlaw's, but we need a bunch more to come in - talk to area merchants, your company, other disc golfers. See what you can bring in to make this huge - we're gonna need it. Des is out talking it up & has bent the ear of some of the big name boys that have ladies coming in for US Women's - sounds like we could have some pretty big names back on the ROCK this September. The boyz from the club (Double R) have coordinated the 9 temp baskets needed for the South course & have south course set up covered. Thanx so much guys - ya'll ROCK!!

Can't imagine why we had such a low turn out tonight - maybe cause IT'S FING HOT!!! Things still went well - had a nice round with Michelle & Jazzi, got to see bunches of Waterloo/South Side peeps (they look at me a little funny - like I never go south or something) & posted the flyers in the park again.

Went over to Chuy's for some margs & looked over the INNOVA merchandise order for for our hot stamp order with Michelle, Jeff, & Patti - called PJ when I finally got to my stupid phone to check on trends, talked with Stef about the overall order/payout & of course checked with Edman & Ware before pressing the send button on the purchase.

I'd like to get together again soon - Tuesday? - to plan the menu & start publicizing it to our players. The more people know about what we're serving the more likely it is they'll be buying breakfast & lunch from us. While it's not my favorite place to shop (uh ever), but there is a Wal Mart right outside the park, so if GOD FORBID we start to run short on something, we've got a built in back up 3 minutes away.

The US Women's fundraising car wash is going to be over the sales tax weekend - Chili's @ Parmer & IH35 has been kind enough to allow us to have it @ the restaraunt. We've got our front line LADIES lined up (thanx Patti, your sweet daughter - I hope - Carl, & Bridgett). We need some washing hands, so if you're able to come help out, chime in! It's the 19th-21st. I think Saturday would be our biggest draw, but would like to check with Martin & my brother Steve-O before setting the day & hours. I'll keep you posted, I know it's quick.

Well - think that's about it - get money, get merch, get players, get staff & thanx so much for all your help!!

Went out after the mini to check on the south course. There is a new fence on the side of 4 - I think it's 4... ...the one with the Dell Diamond parking lot down the side of the hole. Anyway - the fence tightens the hole up for the lefty & eliminates the skip out OB for the righty. The new growth of the trees on 3 looks like it will require the tee box to be shifted to the left. Gonna go walk the entire course to make sure the rest of the holes haven't changed up to much before my meeting with the city on Tuesday. Kennie should be able to get anything else tightened up since there's no mowing :(.

Please bring water cooler to the mini on Wednesday the 7th so Jerry can bring us Ice on Saturday. Ice chests too - need lots of ice & water for this bad boy.

Also - just an FYI. For speed of play & overall player enjoyment, Rec & Int will not be playing the technical OB on either course. They will only play traditional park rules - cables, fences, roads, creeks, etc. Not the string on the north or beyond paths on the south.

While I have not been on the course today, I hear you boyz have done some amazing things & I'm so thankful for all of you & the help & support that you've provided to me & the tournament. I'd name names, but I know I'd miss people & I want to be sure that doesn't happen. Thank you all so much - you are a small but wonderful group of club members that continue to make things come together every time. Your efforts to grow the sport do not go unseen.
