Win a G(old) Medal in Disc Golf

Disc Golf will be one of the events at the 2011 Minnesota Senior Games June 2-5 in Mankato. If you are going be at least 50 by the end of this year, you can compete.

All levels of skill are expected, from "So, how do I play this game?" to "What's the course record?"

The disc golf competition will be one round of 18 holes at the Land of Memories Campground course, starting at 10 am Thursday, June 2, 2011. Flex start; just get there in time to finish by 3 pm.

Ben Keist, who has experience holding tournaments at Land of Memories, will be the tournament director. This will be a non-PDGA, non-MFA event.

Sign up at the Minnesota Senior Games website (not through Ben).

(Disc Golf was a last-minute addition, so don't worry if you don't see it in every list of events.)

For your $30 ($35 non-MN resident) you get participation in unlimited sports, socials, a t-shirt, a goodie bag, and maybe a medal. With three medals for each of 10 age groups (50-54, 55-59 ...95-99) your chances are pretty good.

You can also sign up for as many of these other sports as you want. Most of the other sports will be held on the MSU-Mankato campus facilities:
Archery
Badminton
Basketball (3 on 3)
Basketball Free Throw
Billiards
Bowling
Cycling
Golf ($43 greens fee, at North Links)
Horseshoes
Pickleball
Racquetball
5K Trail Race
10K Trail Race
Shuffleboard
Softball
Swimming
Table Tennis
Tennis
Track & Field
Volleyball

If we have a good turnout, it may help get disc golf into the National Senior Games when they come to Minnesota in 2015.
