Thanks to Jerry for running it. Had a lot of fun as always at the Hunter mini. Got to watch Paul make some Ridiculous putts with some tree assistance. and Sammy played a solid round too.

More people need to take advantage of this course and its challenge, it is one of the best courses in Tulsa with a wide variety of shots needed to score well. Come out and play you'll only get better, in these mini's play up a division watch and learn from the better players. We have some of the best in the World right here in Tulsa and it can only help you, I know its helped me. Still a long way to go but i'm always pushing forward.

As always thanks to Jerry for running it! A beautiful night almost no wind to speak of, I could have brought in a decent score but a Double Circle 6 on 12 made that a little tough.

Lots of great shooting from some Advanced players out there. Time to make the step up.

Also GREAT JOB to Lora I have been playing with her since she picked up a disc a few years ago and she does nothing but get better every round. A lot of guys are scared to come out to Hunter and she's been there each week working on her game and improving so much. I tell you if I could make putts like her I might be a decent player!

FYI
Carrie and I have just finished putting the rest of the vinyl sleeves on the post tonight
Next we r going to laser the distances for each hole
Then we cut use the line to cut the vinyl for the #s
None of this would be possible without the cuntinued support of all the discgolfers that play the minis, so Thank you all

Dovillio sleeves are going on tomorrow evening during the mini

And for the record I only allow people to win a division 2-3 times then they automatically get bumped to the next level
This makes it fair for everybody and cuts down on bagging at hunter anyway
I do not bump them from advanced to pro but I do give them a hard time;)

The new tee signs look awesome. Jerry bought this idea back from Ohio when he played World's last year.

This goes to show that we need players getting out and seeing how other clubs do things, then bring those ideas back to Tulsa.

The changes at Hunter and Dovillio are very positive. He also worked around several of the tee pads with a Bobcat and moved dirt to them.

Great job and expect to see more course upgrades and improvements this year.

The TDSA, as it has for decades, is out there trying to make your disc golf experience the best it can be.

Thanks for your support..

If the SSA is 53, then wouldn't a 53 be a 1000 rated round?

twoputtok
Jul 05 2011, 11:51 AM
You would think that but at the time of an event it will also take into account the ratings and scoring of the top rated players at the time.

arhunt
Jul 05 2011, 04:15 PM
The SSA(1000 rated round) will vary depending on the ratings of players and how the field shoots on a given day.

At Hunter in the current layout, I would say the SSA would vary between 52 and 54.

One of the factors that might make the SSA higher than you expect, is the creek. Compare this to Haikey, which scores similarly to Hunter, but usually gets lower ratings. Bad shots get punished much more at Hunter.

So, while the good rounds at Hunter and Haikey are similar, the bad rounds at Hunter are worse, which makes the good rounds at Hunter higher rated.

This is similar to why Fountain Hills at The Memorial produces high ratings. It is a bunch of 400 foot shots, with a lot of water. If you're not pro caliber, you are going to do very poorly! The bad rounds boost the ratings of the good rounds significantly!

well said!

the two rated rounds pre-state at haikey saw an even par 54 rated at 994 and 1006. I put in a note to the PDGA ratings committee on my TD report explaining the island on 18. I'd still expect SSA to be around 54, seeming as there were very few rounds under par during the tournament. (62x3=186 rounds played, 12 of which were under 54)

But like Adam said, it is all based on what people shoot in that particular round. Gary Harrison was the hot round in round 2 with a 50. Devan shot a 47 in round 3. i'd expect the same scores rated differently between those rounds when the ratings go official next week.

If you look at all the scores you will see that I keep the divisions fair
if somebody is winning or scoring way better than everybody else then I move them up to the next division the next week
most everybody that plays the hunter minis know this is what I do
and they dont gripe about it and if they do to bad I just want to keep it fair for everybody
I keep every copy of every mini and can look back at their average it is pretty simple and if the other tds keep up the practice at their course then soon there will be no more bagging

Carrie started her chemo on tuesday and is almost done with her radiation treatments
so far everything is looking great so if you have been praying for her keep up the good work !!
We will keep the news updated as we hear it

Jerry, you do a great job keeping divisions straight. Hunter is one of my favorite places to play, and definately the place where I improve my game the most.

Will keep praying for Carrie, glad to hear the good news!

p.s. yes, Jordan was able to get the disc out of the tree for me....made a crappy round good again :)

Thanks as always to Jerry and Carrie for running it. Great turn out last night, had groups starting on holes i hadn't seen before. Glad to see people coming out and taking advantage.

Big congrats to Zac Price on his ace, a beautiful tomahawk dead center chains. Right after he threw it he said "Thats no good" it then rolled and blew the chains up. Good little player and a face that you will always see at Hunter.

I agree with Dave, Jerry does a great job managing the players and making sure that the bagging is kept to a bare minimum. Everyone knows what division to play and when its time to move up, just another great thing about Hunter!

Good scoring between the division splits also. No bagging here.

I don't think this is over-stepping any boundaries. Interesting storyline here; I was on the same scorecard as Ben Bland [1st INT], after about 12 holes he was sitting around 2 big, with all the "hard" holes behind him. After asking what division we were in (INT), he felt bad because he signed up for NOV after injuring his shoulder earlier in the week. He thought that he wouldn't shoot well at all, but as its been stated earlier, inuries don't matter when you cash out while playing down with a ridiculous score for that division. Ben ended up shooting +3, which was his best ever score at Hunter (I've played with him before, he's a good INT player, and a good guy to be on your card). He talked about it with Garret and I, and asked Jerry when we got in to move him up from NOV to INT because he didn't want to be placed in a division that he easily dominated. Kudos to Ben for that move, I give him alot of respect for doing that.

Big congrats to Zac Price on his ace, a beautiful tomahawk dead center chains. Right after he threw it he said "Thats no good" it then rolled and blew the chains up. Good little player and a face that you will always see at Hunter.

Congrats to Zac, he's a great competitor and a nice kid to boot. Glad to see him hit it.

And as always, thanks to Jerry and Carrie for running a great mini, it was a great night to play.

As Always big thanks to Jerry and Carrie for running it. Not as Hot as i thought it would be out there.

Lots of good scores out there. I felt pretty good with 4 under coming in but i guess when your up against one of the top Pros it doesn't mean much haha. Awesome score from Josh, great player and a good guy.

Gotta give a little shout out to my brother, he's been improving alot he easily could have shot under but had some unlucky chain outs. But he hung in there and 3 big never a bad score at Hunter. Also Lora with a solid score she was playing so good had some unfortunate putts miss and a few mental hicups on 16 and 17 but she hung in there for i believe her lowest score to date.

Come play Hunter it'll make you better!

Thanks as always to Jerry and Carrie for running it. A very sticky and steamy night indeed! No breeze which lead to some low scores.

Yes 48 is my personal best in a mini, i have shot better in a casual round but i guess we can't count that haha. I keep going back to one really silly short putt on 12 i missed that would have put me 7 under with Adam but hey we all have those "what if's" huh? Just something to look back and improve upon. Great score from Adam and some good shooting from Bradon in Advanced, anytime you're under at Hunter thats a solid score.

Play Hunter it will make you better!

Played hunter this morning and there is a huge tree limb down on hole 2 right at the top of the slope, crosses the entire fairway. Takes away any chance of roller and makes and already challenging hole that much more difficult.

Indeed, was a good season at Hunter, really glad I made it out several times to play. Incredible 45 Adam had, was pretty neat being on the card one hole in front and watching him make some pretty incredible throws, his entire card played well too [Nicody and Zac P].

First mini win ever was at Hunter, it'll be a special place for me for sure. Thanks to Jerry and Carrie for their time and efforts, it was alot of fun. See you guys next year.

Thanks to Jerry and Carrie for another great hunter mini season! Glad to see Zach got a disc for his hard work, "The Kid" as i have named him has improved so much and is one of the nicest guys you'll play with. He only had me by two so next year i'll be back and trying to take the title of "most hunter mini's attended."

Got to see some great golf and play with some great players on this amazing course. No matter how many times you play it there is always something to improve on or new to learn. People need to take advantage of this great course it has everything you could want in a course. Tight wooded holes, technical holes, open drives, you need every shot in the bag to be successful here. Can't wait till next season!

Any plans for some off season mins?

... there is 'not really' a 'season' ... or 'end-of-the-season' for all-these-Parks and all-these-Minis and all-these-Courses ... they are a constant, ongoing situation all-year-round ... only difference is daylight ... as shorter-days , and daylight-savings-time-changes keep these Mini from being scheduled-and-staged on 'weeknights' ... the TDSA Mini-Schedule and array of events-and-tourney-gatherings at various-courses with various-formats always remains chock-full-o'-stuff ... year-round ...
