From the desk of Dave Olcott:

As President and the elected spokesperson for the membership of the Pittsburgh Flying Disc Society, I would like to offer a great deal of gratitude and congratulations to the current members of the Board of Directors. The past two years rank amongst the most productive in the long history of the club. It is through the efforts and hard work of these people that we can play the sport we love on so many excellent and varried courses throughout the region. It is difficult, and perhaps impossible to express the amount of work that goes into putting courses in the ground and running the events that showcase these excellent creations. I would also like to express my deepest thanks to all of the individuals who run the leagues and special events, who promote the courses and keep them functional and beautiful. I would like to thank all of the County and Municipal officals and workers who log the hours required to bring this sport to the community at large. Many, many thanks to all of the sponsors from around the region who provide dollars and services that enable the club to do what it does so well. It has been my pleasure to serve with them all. I offer my sincerest best wishes to the incoming Board and the very best of luck in keeping the sport growing and moving forward.

Dave Olcott
President

Thanks to Dave for his job as President and to the other outgoing board members who aren't running for anything coming up (if there are any).

Does anyone have any plans yet as to what they would like to run for? Who is returning? That might help let people know who are considering running if they should or not.

Thanks,

mark

Anyone considering running should definitely run for the position they are interested in. The current board is a big part of the club and most of us will continue to be so whether on the board or not. Dave Olcott is supposed to be posting the letters of interest as he gets them. I have not seen any yet, so I am assuming nobody is interested in running...lol Myself, I was thinking about continuing as a Director at Large or maybe running for Membership Director, Secretary, President, or maybe totally dropping out of the scene. Choices, Choices, Choices……

I know J Gary, Dave O, and Jerry are all pushing for Lori to become our new president.

I wonder if there will be any alternate choices in this year’s election. lol Last time we only had enough people run to fill the positions. I'm not sure if that made an actual vote even necessary. It doesn’t look like we will have any choices this time either. J. Gary is the only one running so far with less than 2 weeks left to nominate. I am kind of new to this but has anyone ever lost in a PFDS election?

Are we allowed to Nominate other people? Do we have to write a letter as to why we would think they would be good?

It is my understanding that you can nominate other people. I guess from there the nominated person would need to accept the nomination. A brief letter as to why one would nominate another would make sense. I think the person who is nominated also needs to write a brief letter as to why they are interested. Possibly Dave Olcott or another highly trained individual in the articles of association could clear this up?

Yes, but is Lori interested? I think that was the biggest problem with the current board. People were talked into doing a position they were otherwise not interested in.

I am pretty sure that Lori is going to run for President. She does want to and there have been quite a few people pushing for her to do so.

Sure hope someone does. Wonder what happens if nobody runs for a position. It looks like either nobody is running or Dave is just lagging at putting the stuff up on the website. There is only about a week left for nominations. If nobody runs does it default to the previous officer or is it a vacant seat?

I submitted my letter of interest for the Director of Communications position earlier today.
