I think a Mini on this course has some positives to offer the kids in the Alma area !!!!!!! :)
But, this week, I'm full with 3 Mini's and a WAFDA meeting !!!!!!!
Maybe after your club gets going we could have a mini and mix the cards with experienced golfers and beginners !!!!!!!
Or maybe doubles with one experienced golfer and beginner !!!!!
Just a thought !!!!!!! :)

Roger, I can understand with that schedule. Love the ideas and we'll make it happen I'm sure. We had the sign up for clubs today, and I have mixed feelings on the number. I only have 15 members. I have one 8th grader. Two 7th graders, and the rest are 6th graders; four of which are girls. Small numbers mean easier to monitor and we'll be able to play at a faster pace; especially because of the amount of time to play.
To all others about Wednesday, I'm going to be out playing whether anyone shows or not. I'm not going to invite the students because it a policy to not play or practice on a church night in Alma. Hope to see some of you. Savage

Alright !!!!!! Eric, this might be the start that increases #'s of ladies in the sport of Disc Golf !!!!!!! Introduce the sport at an early age to increase muscle memory and flexibility !!!!!!!
Also I'm sure the numbers will increase as the students get a taste of the EDGE course and curriculum your presenting !!!!!!
Just remember that the one that has the most fun wins !!!!!!! :)
I'll predict that "Disc Golf Fever" runs through Alma Middle School this year and next year you'll have to turn away students for lack of space !!!!!!!

I'm gonna give it a try to make it out Eric, but no promises. Faith broke her arm Sunday night, so we were in the ER until 10:30 or so, then Monday night WAFDA meeting, then Tuesday night PTSA Bingo in Farmington until 8:00........ I REALLY need to eat at home tonight, so it will depend on how quick I can get home. I'll try.....

apparently my best isn't good enough, got a sick wife at home that gave me that "look" (something like this ) when I told her I was going to Alma :o
I was really looking forward for some revenge on this track
this course has so many possibilities, I was thinking total pitch-n-putt since it was for the kids but that isn't the case, good piece of land with easy to move tees from short to looong - very nice design from Eric
hope ya'll have fun and we repeat this sometime soon in the future

Hey All,
Had two show up Wednesday evening, Joseph Brandenburger and Willie Williams. It was Joseph and myself for the first nine and then Willie showed up right as we came off nine. We had a good time and that's what was most important.
Front Back Total
Eric 23 28 51
Joseph 26 25 51
Willie - 27 -
As we came off of six, we notice a father and his two kids stopping to play some DG. It turned out to be Bud Pitchford and his two kids. Bud showed up the day we put the baskets in and played a round with us. I love seeing kids being taught the game.
Evan, I think for now, I'm going to keep doing the Wed. night play to anyone wanting to throw. If we get enough we can do a mini, but officially we'll just call it a fun night.
As for my DG club and the kids, I'll move some whisker markers up to make new tee boxes. They'll need to build some arm strength first and hopefully I'll get some to come out on some Saturdays and play.
See ya'll out on a course somewhere soon, Savage

As Roger would Say, "Come get ya some fun."
Starting @ 6:00
Take time to drive to Alma Middle School and play the newest course in the area. Lots of opportunities for aces. Who's going to be the first to record an ace on the new course?
Pull into the front parking lot and walk out past the basketball court. The first hole runs parallel to the football field.
Hope to see you tomorrow.

Hey All,
The official club meeting for the AMS Disc Golf Club only happens once a month. My plan is to meet out on the course on a Saturday or two every month. I'd like to have some WAFDA members show up where we could pair students up with a member. Of course we would give advice and just try and show the kids some good ole fashion fun. I'm tentatively shooting for Oct 2nd. I'll have to get the students to sign a permission slip, so I'll know the number of kids we'll be working with that day. I'll probably shoot for a early afternoon time so those wanting to play the BG mini could do so. I'll post something by next Wednesday so look for the update then. Thanks, Savage
PS
Had two WAFDA members show up this past Wednesday. Joseph Brandenburger and Gregg Fritchey. Enjoyed the round guys. We got 18 in and when it was all said and done, Joseph shot a -6 48, Gregg shot a -2 52, and I shot a -4 50. Joseph is getting closer and closer to the course record -9 45 currently being held by Roger Knight. We'll be out there again next Wednesday if you want to show off your skills. Better yet, Just have some fun.

Hey Eric, I have an invite out to all of the "old club" kids that I have contact info on. I had 3 that said they would try to make it out, if only for 9-holes before church. Anyway, maybe we will get a couple extras.
Disc Golf guys, come on out and show your support for the growing sport. Show these kids that there is fun and future in disc golf! And enjoy a new course at that.

Hey All,
What a beautiful October night to be playing DG. We had eight people show up at the 6:00 P.M. prompt start. Two others showed up and joined the fun. Gregg, Josh, Chase, Trent, Joseph started on hole one, while Willie, Alex, Brice, Evan, and myself started on two. We threw nine holes with no problem and even got four others in before the early night stopped the action.
Thanks for coming out and supporting the new course guys. The local kids will see us playing and they'll ask about it and want to play. October's club meeting is this coming Monday and the kids have been asking, "Are we playing?"
"You know we are!" is my response
Here's a thought. Four of us played nine more last night with spray on glow. Joseph had a light in the center of his disc. I say we all go to Academy and purchace one or two and we can play some night rounds this Fall. I'll buy some extras for the baskets and we'll do it to it. I'll post a date here in the near future.
Again, Thanks! Hope you had fun on the newest course in our area. It's because of you and your support of the EDGE program that we too can enjoy this course. GO AIREDALES! :)

Hey All,
Sorry I missed this last Wed., but I was heading out of town that night. I drove by and saw a good showing playing. Hope everyone had fun.
I'm planning on being out there tomorrow, so if anyone wants to come out and throw as many holes as the late evening will allow us. Come on out and throw ya some.
PS: I'm in the process of thinking about a spring tournament. Thinking about calling it the AMS Spring (ACE) Fling. Thought WAFDA could help with a student flight in the morning, and then have a Pro/Am in the afternoon. If you have any ideas, let me hear from you.

Hey All,
I can't play this Wednesday because we are having parent/teacher conferences. That doesn't mean you can't come out and have some fun. I'm getting closer to being the first to have an ace on this course, so unless you want me to announce that, you had better get on out there and make your own.
Since there will be a lot of cars at the school, you may want to park down at the administration building down by hole eight.
See ya throwing.

Hey DGers,
After playing in the mini this morning, I went out to the school and worked on the course. I mowed every tee box and putting area around the baskets. I trimmed a lot of the trees and put the weedeater to good use. I'd say this course is mini ready.:)
Here is two announcements: First, Wednesday, November 3rd, we'll have our normal 6:00 pm prompt start. Let's have some fun.:D Bring your lights.
Secondly, Sunday,November 7th, is the mark of the end of Daylight Savings. Let's have a mini to bring in the early night. We'll start at 5:30 and play with the lights. It would be helpful to bring some extra lights. Let me hear your thoughts?

Hey All,
Just letting everyone know that the AMS Disc Golf Course has lights on the baskets now. They have an on and off switch, so if you ever want to play at night you'll have to turn them on first. I played tonight and it was a beautiful night. Shot three under.
Oh yea, the school has dug a line across the field and have ruined the 8th tee box.:( I'll try to get out there and replace the markers soon. Have fun!!!!

Hey All,
Just giving everyone a heads up that I'm going to make some changes to the course layout soon. I'm going to dig out hole #9 and move it to go more in the direction of where hole #1 is located. This will tighten up the gap between the ninth hole and #1 tee box. Then I'm going to rename the holes. Hole #8 will become #1 and the following holes will follow the normal course layout.
The changes are do to two things. One, the new construction has blocked access to the course from the middle school parking lot. Secondly, hole #8 is located right next to the administration parking lot, and it just makes sense to start the course there.

It's me again,
Went out tonight and moved #9 to its new location. It is now hole #2. I'll hopefully finish renumbering the baskets tomorrow. I'm planning on putting down some new whisker markers at some of the tee boxes. I'll move the scorecard box to the new number one tee box; formerly #8. Remember, the course now starts at the administration building, and also ends there too.:)
Just throwing this out there for you die hard DGers. I'm planning on playing this new layout tomorrow night. I'll have the lights turned on the baskets so come on out and have some fun. Planning on starting at 6:00, so hope to see some of you.
Oh yea, Roger, you do have the record forever on the original course layout.:D I'll file that scorecard away in the file I have at the school. Maybe I'll start a wall with the history of the AMS Disc Golf Course. Your card will be there for sure.
See ya,

Hey All,
I'm not working Wednesday :D so it's going to be a DG day for me. :D I'm planning on playing in the afternoon around 3:00, and at 6:00 for a little night golf. Baskets will be lit up. This will depend on the weather of course. If you're off and want to play the new design come on out. Park at the administration bldg. Course starts and ends there now. It's just past the middle school.
Happy Thanksgiving,

Hey All,
Some came out to Alma Middle and had some fun. Robert Davis, and Roger Knight came out in the afternoon and played. Loved seeing Robert birdie hole 8 twice. I haven't seen anyone do that until this afternoon. Nice job Robert!
The night round was a lot of fun because the resident care taker took honors tonight.:D
Eric Savage shot 52, -2
Robert Davis shot 56, +2
Roger Knight shot 57, +3
Bud Pitchford shot 67, +13
Dakota Pitchford shot 78, +24
It was good to have Dakota out tonight. He's one of my AMS disc golf club members. It's good to have the youth out playing.

Hey DGers,
This afternoon was the first official ACE out at the middle school course. Three of us witnessed  Kelly Ganzel of Fayetteville Ace #6. It was a beautiful skip ace from the right side. Just before the throw we were commenting that we felt that #6 would be the first hole to have an ace. I was close to being the first today because I hit the pole on #1. Witnessing the first ace was Bryan Deer, Evan Mckee, and myself.
Just tooting my own horn; I shot my best round to date today. Shot a five under, 49.
Remember, we're still playing Thursday nights at 6:00 on the only lit baskets in the area. Hope to see you out and maybe you can be the first local to ace AMS.
See ya throwing, Savage
