what makes those 1st run star destroyers different from the regular run star destroyers? was there a difference in the plastic itself, or flight characteristics?

They are a bit less stable brand new. Be glad you don't know cause you'd be searching for them and paying money to have them. Great fliers wish they had made them this way for the stock ones too.
