I just returned from two days at Seven Springs Mountain Resort where I worked with Adventures Manager Brandon Hoffman to complete the set up of the par 64 course on the mountain. I'm happy to report:
1. All the baskets, including #12, are in their correct position.
2. All of the signs for the Red, White and Blue tee are installed. Tee markers are also in place.
3. Grass has been cut on all fairways, tees and greens.
4. I designed a compromise for weekday play when only the Cortina chairlift runs. Holes 1 and 10 will still be playable as is, but for anyone who doesn't want to walk up the hill to play those holes, a new tee just off to the right of the disembark of the Cortina lift will allow an alternate hole 1A (180 ft) to be played to a relocated practice basket, and an alternate 10A to be played to the existing #10 basket (303 feet). Seven Springs staff will move the practice basket (currently located above the original tees of #1 and #10) soon and create signage for the alternate tees.
The six-pack lift that goes to the top of the course where #1 and #10 start will run on Sat-Sun 10am-6pm and on Fridays of holiday weekends.
A chair pass to play the course is only $6 available at the Adventures Center at the base of the slopes. The Adventures Center will also soon have a new supply of custom stamped Innova golf discs for sale, in addition to having rental discs available. Stop in before your round to pick up a course map and scorecard. Take the chairlift up and play the front nine back down the mountain. Have lunch at the the Slopeside dining room or other eateries at the resort. Take the lift back to the top and play the back nine down again. Then take a swim at the Bavarian Beach pool overlooking the 18th green, or go up the hill and play some more.
The resort also has a great Bike Park with downhill mountain bike trails complete with technical sections, banked turns, rock hops, and big air jumps. Or you can ride some of the hundred miles of trials throughout the resort's section of the Laurel Highlands.
Tons of other stuff to do there for kids, wives and families as well -- UTV rides, rock climbing, spa, swimming, miniature golf, arcade games, and more.
I hope to soon have further announcements about disc golf events and activities at 7Springs!
