Heading to Irvine for work and looking to get a round in on Sunday April 25, evening. Where should I go? I see La Mirada isn't too far. Any others?

Can't go wrong with La Mirada.

La Mirada is top of the list!

Other nearby 18 hole courses are Huntington Beach and Long Beach. A little further away are Prado Regional Park in Chino and Chavez Ridge in Los Angeles. All are free except HB costs a couple of bucks to play and Prado charges $10.00 per car to get into the park on weekends.

If you play HB you can drive a little further down the road and enjoy the sunset from the beach.

I've played HB before so I'll probably hit La Mirada. I saw there are a couple of 9 holers around Irvine too. I am suprise there aren't more courses as you head south to SD.

Keep in mind that there's this little thing called Camp Pendleton in between Irvine and San Diego County that creates a disc golf desert. On Wednesday we'll cut the ribbon on the new 18-hole course at Cal State San Marcos and three weeks later we'll have the grand opening of Kit Carson Park in Escondido's 18-holer. So...we're catching up.

That makes sense. Don't want any frizzbe's get shot down by mistake :).

Where are those courses? Are they worth the drive or should I stick with La Mirada? Are those Irvine area 9 holers worth getting a quick after work round in?

frontier park has too many walkers and isn't much to it.
as of last year, deerfield was closed due to a kid being hit on the playground, wasn't worth it anyhow
la mirada is great, the geese are sneaky and mean though, you've been warned.

when the snow melts, wrightwood is my favorite!

You should play La Mirada before any of the others. It's a great course, and it has an important place in disc golf history. Deerfield has reopened as a safer 9-holer. It's a quick play - if you do play there, challenge yourself by using just a putter (and maybe a midrange).

Everything from San Marcos to where the 5 and 405 merge is a disc golf desert. The Pendelton area is understandable, but there's lots of area in the south part of Orange County that has no quality disc golf to speak of, which is sad. Of course it's very sad that there is no course in Oceanside anymore...drove by emerald a day or two ago with a tear in my eye...

If you want to get a round in together I will be there for the opening of the San Marcos course on Wednesday...Plus the chance to open a course is always cool...

Looks like I'll be hitting La Mirada at around 5:00 PM on Sunday April 25th if anyone wants to show me around.
