Hello. There are a lot of firsts for me in disc golf. I've only been playing for about a year, but 2010 was my year to really get involved with the sport and I have so many questions. So far I've become a PDGA member and now I'm waiting to hear that my check was received for my SoCal membership.

I'm curious about the bag tag challenges. I've read the rules, but I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me. Also, if you have the time, feel free to tell me some memorable stories about your bag tag challenges. I'm curious to find out if people always follow the rules.

I don't remember the rules stating anything about men vs. women challenges. Are the bag tags general? Or are there two different tags, one set for men and one for women?

Can someone clarify the following for me?

"When you play any League, Tournament, or Recreational rounds of disc golf, you automatically have an individual or group challenge with all current So Cal Bag Tag holders on your card."

For instance, if you're in a tournament and all the players in your group happen to have a SoCal bag tag then the winner of the first round gets the lowest numbered tag even though an official challenge was never agreed upon?

Lastly, say I'm playing a round with friends at Huntington or El Dorado and I see someone with a lower numbered tag. I can walk up to that person and challenge them and they would have to accept? Then the two of us have to play the round together?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

There are only one set of tags. There are not separate tags for men and women.

The person in your group with the lowest score at the end of the round, gets the lowest numbered tag. Challenges are automatic means just that. A player can't refuse to give up a tag "because no one said anything before we started the round."

Lastly, say I'm playing a round with friends at Huntington or El Dorado and I see someone with a lower numbered tag. I can walk up to that person and challenge them and they would have to accept? Then the two of us have to play the round together?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks. They must accept the challenge, but they don't have to do it immediately. They can make arrangements when and where (in a timely manner) and cannot accept other challenges prior to the match.
