what are the common disc that the top players are throwing? I think it is of worthy note to consider trends among top rated players. when they are throwing similar disc then that means there is something to the disc.
Teebirds, roc's, aviars, buzzz, predetors.....
has anyone notice trends???

You can go to the Innova and discraft websites and see what their top pros are throwing.

Depends who is sponsoring who.
Best bet - ask some Gateway guys like Nikko or McCray.

JohnE is loyal and throws 100% Gateway. Also, the websites are very rarely updated, maybe 50% accurate, and Innova doesn't usually mention if they are throwing old versions of discs like CE, 10x KC pro, etc. I played with Kenny and Feldberg this weekend and they throw almost nothing that is widespread and in current production. CE, old KC pro, and in Dave's case a very specific weird run of Star TBs, etc.
Discraft guys almost all throw a Buzzz, a Predator, and a Force, with the rest being highly variable.

your older, slower plastic is usually money. its been around long enough for alot of people to figure out, plus at the slower speed its much more predictable to throw on a line and know how its going to work out. plus, you can throw some speed specific shots.
at a local course, there is a hole that is pretty tough unless you can throw on a very precise line. its a RHBH Hyzer Skip shot. you cannot hit it with Bosses, XCals, Maxes, or Monsters. However, Firebirds, Whippets, and Vipers have no issue hitting this line.
The reason? The latter 3 discs are very slow in their skip angle so you can hit a longer swooping arch or bend where as the faster discs really want to curve in on that hyzer skip.
Same goes with turnovers. for long late turnovers, i use something like a TL. If i used something newer like a Beast or wraith it simply flips up and over too soon.
Faster is not always better, and Newer usually means Faster.
I would love to see some slower speed drivers start to hit the market. Either that or new molds of older discs that would bring closer to their original mold design. I know that the molds get cleaned up from time to time, but this usually causes slight subtle changes to the mold that affects flight characteristics. its amazing how much a difference the 11 Time Champ Teebirds are compared to the 12 Time Champ Teebirds. While the both look the same the 12 Times just dont fight the wind like my 11 Times do and the 12 Times act less stable compared to the 11 Times.
As far as what i have seen being thrown Teebirds, Teebird-Ls(TL), Firebirds, Whippets, Vipers, Leopards, Rocs, Aviar, and its just about safe to say at this points Wraith.

There are at least 2 different Teebird molds. Check the engraving on the bottom. It either reads CA or CAL as an abbreviation for California. Of course there are many other ways that a certain mold can vary from run to run depending on the plastic and cooling conditions.
