Well, I'm out at griffin right now and 7, 9, 10, and 11 are gone and 8 looks like they tried to get it. I'm on 12 right now and its still here. I played 2 days ago and they were here. I talked to a parks guy and he called his boss. I'll post back if any more are missing.

Just so everyone over in OKC land knows and you were thinking about what to do this weekend, there are two, Thats right two C Tiers this weekend in T-Town. The first is on Sturday at Hunter Park and offers a $15,000 Hole in one and a good players pack. They will also have Doubles on Friday afternoon.

The second is at the NEW Centennial course in Owasso. This is the newest course addded to the Tulsa list of courses. Owasso is only 10 minutes from Mohawk and only about 20 minutes from Hunter Park. It is 2.5 miles off of 169 hwy.
Lunch will be provided by Steak-2-Go here in town and they will be cooking angus burgers. If you're a vegan and you're coming over let me know and I'll have other food for you.

Come to both or either one, they will both be worth attending.
You can sign up at Twistedflyer.com or show up early at the event.

Just go to the top of the page for each of these links, there is also a discount on line if you sign up for both.

Lions Hole 11 basket moved temporarily just to the left of where it was previously, somewhat embedded in saplings. This is temporary! Eventually, we will have to find a permanent solution due to the encroaching of the new residences on the course space. This need applies to holes 10, 11, and probably 12.
Just an update! :)

Lions #11 is still in its new position and #10 and #12 baskets remain in their traditional location. The #16 basket remains in the location it was at last year's Pro/Am (away from the water)...

For those that don't know, Griffin has underwent many changes over the past few years. The course maps found on the internet have the original layout. Here is a list of layout changes from that original map as well as a few notes on recent work:

1- The first is back to where it has been in the past (as depicted on course map), the basket is a little closer but down the hillside a bit... Its a nice medium RHFH shot... Also, the am tee has not been marked recently and I am unsure if it will be for the Pro/Am
2 - Now, the pro tee is in the SE corner of the fenced area... The basket is ~660-feet to the NNW in a new position
3 - The grass tee is on the hillside shooting to the old #2 basket
4 - Unchanged, but marked as #3 on course map
5 - Unchanged, but marked as #4 on course map
6 - Unchanged, but marked as #5 on course map... However, the tree branch that used to hang in front of the tee box has been trimmed back
7 - Unchanged, but marked as #6 on course map
8 - Unchanged, but marked as #7 on course map
9 - Unchanged, but marked as #8 on course map
10 - Unchanged, but marked as #9 on course map
11 - Unchanged, but marked as #10 on course map
12 - Unchanged, but marked as #11 on course map
13 - Unchanged, but marked as #12 on course map
14 - Unchanged, but marked as #13 on course map
15 - Still the same as old #14 except that a drainage ditch and a new footbridge have been added to "fix" that mid-fairway swamp
16 - Unchanged, but marked as #15 on course map... A mando in front of the tee eliminates overhand and spike hyzer throws
17 - The old #16 tee box is still used, but the basket is ~500-feet to the SSE along the creek South of the new dirt mountain and behind a cedar tree
18 - The (dirt) tee is marked on the top of the new dirt mountain... The line goes over the spillway for the new lake with the basket to the South of the dam... The new lake is very much in play behind the target!!!

Note: The new #2 and #3 tee boxes have forms for planned concrete tees. As of 10-days ago, the concrete had yet to be poured...

I haven't been to Griffin since last Friday, but I heard that Hole 17 has been brush hogged. Anyone know if that's true?

May 27 2010, 10:22 AM
Yes, I watched the brush hog in action on Saturday at #17. Can't remember the guy's name who did it... Also, Jake mowed Griffin last Saturday...

That was either Matt Engel or Mike Hooper.

Yes, it must have been Mike. I believe he was also helping during the tourny. His (I think) white truck had about 100-lbs of ice in it when he started the rounds...

BTW: Thanks a bunch Jake for your mowing at Griffin. Several times someone in my group (usually me) sent their tee shot into an area usually about a foot deep with buffalo grass. On many occasions, our group found to our delight that these "crash and burn areas" had been mowed. It must've saved our group 15-20 minutes total in searching time...

Workday at Lions tomorrow Sunday at 10am. There has been a lot of work already done at the course in the run-up to Red Dirt Doubles. Come out and help finish up this year's work on our State's oldest course.

An update on Griffin: There has been a lot of work at the course and there are alternate tee positions on juyst about every hole now. I believe the only holes without a "red tee" are #8, #9, #12, and #16-18. Although named "red," some of the new lines are just as challenging as "the longs." We played the "red course" in its entirety for the first time this weekend. Sweet!!!

Also, the 8th hole has two baskets to pick from. The locals have figured out a way to incorporate a loop that extends the course to 20-or-so holes. Anyway, here is a picture of the "more challenging" basket on #8:
