Here is the latest....

"Summer Glow" is still a go.......

Format will be Singles, one round. Alternate course layout. See layout picture for Alt tee and basket
locations. All distances were measured.

CTP contest will be hole #4 short tee.(one throw per person entered, hole is not scored). Continue round after CTP. We will add cash and payout CTP for each division (open, adv, int). Played after hole 5 in the pictured layout.

Ace Pot -- we will add cash to Ace Pot if someone can hit one. There are a lot of alternate holes under 300 ft.

$5 doubles round approx 4 o'clock. It is not part of the glow but if you like to participate in an early round then be at the park. (random doubles, likely to split into divisons)

We are going to have a cookout before the tournament. FREE FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS AND GUESTS We will have the large picnic shelter (Shelter #1) behind the volleyball court and playground. The cookout should start about 6 o'clock (at the end of doubles). If there is something that you would like to bring, let us know. If you like to help, let us know.

The course will be mowed for this event. The Normal layout and ALL the alternate holes will have the tees, fairways, and green done before the 29th.

Course has grass cut to 4 inch fairways and 2 inch green. THIS IS A PREVIEW FOR FALL COLORS.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME NEW QUARTER HAS BEEN MOWED TO THESE CONDITIONS (PRO TOUR TYPE OF CONDITIONS).

We started tonight..... If you remember the park, then picture it mowed like were putting on an "A" tier event........ WOW, what a spectacular view.

With all the expected rain/wind , are we still game for the glow, no matter the weather? I imagine the cookout might be a challenge.

If it's raining, I personally will stay home. Last time we tried to have glow there, it rained us out, so I'm expecting some cooperation from the weather this time. Tropical Storm Danny has already been told to stay away!

The poster does say "weather permitting".

This is how I feel about it..........

If we get rain in the morning, then doubles, cookout, and glow are good.

But depending on the timing and amount of rain, then individual events like doubles or glow may not happen. Cookout may get smaller with less people showing up. At least we'll have a large shelter for that.

If the rain is expected later, then I know I would rather be playing on a course in VA that has been mowed to an A tier caliber. (actually better than that!!!!!) I would be disappointed if there were no glow but at least I got play the course during the day.

HOPE FOR THE BEST

Only 20% chance of rain for Sat. as of this morning. That means 80% chance of NOT raining!!!

I will be there for the cookout for sure, rain or shine!

Everybody do the Woodstock "no rain" chant...........
