So I guess I missed friday and monday's Sportsbeat....But I turned it on yesterday to be amazed and shocked by what was going on. I see "loved the show" and thought oh no this can't be good. Is Stan leaving the show? Never thinking it would be the show that was leaving???????? Watch if for a few minutes and realized my main source for Steelers and Pens info out here in West Texas is coming to an end after watching it for 14 years...WHAT!!!! WHY!!!!!! I don't really have any details of why this is happening, so I was hoping some of you Pittsburghers could help me out with it. FSN Pitt just seems to be ruining that station, first they fired Guy....which was just stupid, but at least the show went on. Then they they moved Mike Lang to radio??? Which really sucked, not that I don't like Staggy, but I really liked it when it was Staggy and Mike doing the Pens games. And now the final straw, they are getting rid of sportsbeat, the longest running Pittsburgh Sport show???

I've been paying extra on my directTV bill for nearly 14 years just to just so I could have FSNPitt so I could watch this show and now it's gone...Seems silly to be sad about a TV show being cancelled, but this was more than just a TV show. It was something I relied on for not only info, but to console me after those sunday Steelers loses(good thing they don't lose much) on Monday with Tunch, for updates through trainning camp, free agent news, ect. What are they going to show now, more reruns of poker, or more best **** sport show junk? Sportsbeat was the best sports show on the air....especially for Black and Gold fans.

Don't know how you guys feel about it, especially since you probably still get to listen to Stan and Guy on the radio...but this really...really stinks for us that don't have that option and/or don't live in Pittsburgh.

FSN BRING BACK SPORTSBEAT!!!! Cause as it is now, I've got no reason to watch that station any more other than for Pens games which I will get through NHL Center ice anyway.

Just like you...last night I sat down to watch Sportsbeat and realized they were re-airing the final episode that was first aired on Monday. I had no idea this was taking place. I even work for a smaller market radio station and the sports director wasn't even aware this was happening.

This is the only thing I found on the web about why they canceled the show.

"The longest running sports program in Pittsburgh TV has been cancelled. "Savran on Sportsbeat" on FSN Pittsburgh has been cancelled by owner Liberty Media. The program began March 11, 1991 on KBL and was then known as "Sportsbeat". Savran joined the program in 1992 and was teamed with Guy Junker for nearly a decade after that. Junker was let go in May 2003. According to Bob Smizik, Savran was supposedly working without a contract, but PBRTV has since heard rumors that Savran has been let go. The decision is strictly financial. Station management continues to applaud Savran and the program had the best ratings ever. It is expected that further job reductions will follow at FSN. "Sportsbeat" and "Savran on Sportsbeat" has been the focal point of FSN Pittsburgh for nearly two decades.

Savran will continue to co-host the 10 a.m. - Noon talk show with Guy Junker on WEAE-AM (1250) ESPN Radio."

I too am extremely ticked off about this. Sportsbeat was just as much Pittsburgh as the Primanti Bros. sandwich. On WDVE 102.5fm this morning they were talking about how many poker reruns they are going to air in its place.

I guess the only good thing about this F'ed up situation is that Stan will still do pre and post games for the Pirates and Pens. Along with Mike Tomlin Press Conference and Steelers coverage.

I was pretty upset last night watching that final show. I watch it instead of that boring All-Star Game. My wife thought I was crazy because that's all I was talking about.

You should definitely email FSN your thoughts, considering your from TX and still watched that show.

You got that to? My wife just couldn't understand why I was mad about it...she kept saying, surely someone will pick it up right? NO, and even if they did, it wouldn't be nationally aired.

I've emailed a few places....don't know how much good it will do, but never hurts to try right??
