Why didn't you include a picture of a president that was actually born in Illinois, instead of Hawaii or Kentucky? I can think of two, offhand, both of them from roughly the same time as the two you show.

I do like the way you combined the I Love You with the hands of both gentlemen. I can still fingerspell, thanks to the ASL class I took 27 years ago, but my reception of others' spelling to me is awful, I have to admit.

Very good questions... but only Reagan was born in Illinois - and if I ever design a disc with a President on it... it will be him...

Lincoln Library is here in Springfield - so everything has Lincoln on it... This is a keepsake/fundraiser disc for the Deaf Nationals so Kent wanted the disc to have something on it that is very Springfield... Lincoln is as Springfield as you get...

My bad, I thought Grant was born in Illinois as well, guess he just lived there when elected, like Obama and Lincoln.

I was born in KY, so I'm a little sensitive about which state is really the "land of Lincoln" :)

You are right, too, about the "I" and "L" spelled out by the presidents. I was looking at the forest instead of the trees, and saw Obama's pinky combined with Lincoln's forefinger and thumb, and immediately saw the "ILY" combo in one combined hand. Quite a coincidence. Quite ironic that Obama's letter would be "I".
