I've been starting to learn a back hand roller and one of the guys in my league said I really needed to get a disc in D plastic.to throw a roller with. I just wanted to find out what everyone else thought about this?

I just think the harder, less flexible the better. Like FLX, not so good. Anything else I think works fine.

I wouldn't use gummy plastic or something that is exceptionally soft because it would have more of a chance to deform on impact and result in errant rolls.

However, I don't see any major difference in rolling between Champion, Star, Pro, or DX plastic, if that is what you are getting at.

I'll bet he said that because people generally throw a more understable disc (i.e. Leopard (my disc of choice), XL, Roadrunner) for a backhand roller. Since D plastic beats up more quickly than Champion or Elite Z it is probably why he likes it for a roller. Personally I like the Champion/Z Plastic as it stays true longer and once you learn the line will be a better long run disc.
