Way to busy at work to make Greenwood, wish I could

I do have a measuring wheel, and 3 putt is right, a good laser range finder could be easier

as far as some of the elevated holes I was wanting to take long string and mark it and then lay on flat ground and roll it off

my opinion is that length doesn't really make the hole

Shot shaping by terrain and obstacles is what I'm looking for out there and for it to not be so hard as to scare off first timers and rec players (like Alma can do, mainly with rough schule, bluff and water shots losing plastic)

There is the possibility of dual tee pads though, that could give us the best of both worlds

right now we need to see how the trees filling out have changed the shots to make sure that we like them and get permanent tees in the ground, sometimes just shifting a tee a few feet can give more lanes or more drastically define the lane of travel to get to the pin

and 8 has to be moved, that's a headache waiting to happen, especially when the course is full like during events

please, by all means, those of you that are able to play it more than I have let me know what you're thinking about it

As of last night I became an Arkie with a range finder (thanks Mom)!!
I will try and get it out there to shoot the holes and write down the distances. If I can get a dry spell this weekend (doesn't look good though) I plan to play some golf somewhere. If it is a long enough spell I'll hit Greenwood!

if that is in reference to me please undertstand that I'm hitting around 70 hours in a 5 day work week in the month of May and am attending large events most every week-end :p

Next Sunday , 2 pm tee, will be the start of a 8 week mini "league" in Alma that I'm running though!!

Traveler Basket and a USDGC Roc are a couple of the better end of league prizes that I'll be Donating (as well as other stuff)

Evan, this was in know way shape or form directed at you personally but to the board as a whole. I always try to encourage everyone I see on or off the course to try and attend our mini's. Golfer's overall will benefit from being in a structured mini. If hanging around with people with a common interest in disc golf isn't enough, then our overall games should improve by being around golfer's with different types of skill.

I understand that family and work are very important in our quest for happiness and security. But as disc golf goes it might take a village and the board seems to be a good start.

I finally got out to shoot the course with my range finder, and to actually play it for the first time too!! On the playing the course I shot a 54. Not great, but not bad. I was OK with it, as I shot blind on two holes, not sure of where the holes were, and too tired to walk and find out after covering almost every hole twice to get the measurements.

Until last Thursday I've been wondering how many Minis is to many !!!!

But with the Greenwood Mini showing signs of building interest in the sport gives me hope that the future of disc golf in the area depends upon the organized Mini !!!!

Someone please tell me that this rumor of aces hit while not in the $120 ace pot is not true!
I just saw a post on Facebook that said two aces were hit tonight at Greenwood, but the player was not in the pot b/c he hadn't thrown in such a long time! Anyone back this up?

That little rascal has a knack for hitting Aces without a doubt. I think he has just the right amount of aggressiveness, and confidence in his comeback putting, to go for the basket alot off of the tee.

Great job Little Chris! Hopefully this will entice him more into getting back into playing! I know he was excited enough about it to call me and brag .... I mean inform me, about it. :)

The biggest news of the night is we had Mr. Chris Shelton playing with us and not only did this man hit 2 ACES he hit them within a THREE HOLE SPAN. The first time I have ever seen this happen. And the best part was that the ace pot is still intact at around $117.
I hope this round has enticed him to start playing more golf but only time will tell. I'm just glad I didnt agree to play 51 with the guy. :)

Jay Reading said he would practice in the rain so that he would have a nose up on everyone else who stayed inside during those rainy days. I have decided to practice this theory and see where it takes me, I assume it will be something to do with a cold :) but we will see.

Also my 1 mulligan that I used I didnt even play from it. I threw OB on hole 2 and then my mulligan also went OB as well and then I played from my original shot and made the circle 3.

WOW !!!!! I was driving out to Greenwood yesterday for the mini in a Heavy Rain not expecting anybody to be there and to my surprise their was Terry Blanton standing by his golf cart loaded with bag, ice chest, and umbrella on top !!!!!!! :cool:

You know I will be in on that one! I had seen a thing about disc golf in Special Olympics a while back, and was wondering where all it was happening at. Any ideas on #'s of athletes? I would love to get enough disc for all to take one away..... what would it take to go for that? I bet we could find a place to donate for this cause......

After waiting about 1.5 hrs. for the rain and lightning to stop !!!!!! The clouds parted and with a rainbow in the background, we got to play disc golf in spring like conditions in the River Valley in August !!!!!!! :cool:

OK, the Special Olympic folks have no idea how many to expect for this (1st time they've done it), I've been waiting for some idea of number of folks participating to make a game plan - looks like we're winging it now

Basically set up, 9 am Saturday, Sept. 11th
run from 10am to 2pm

this is for Special Olympic Athletes AND their families

supposed to be a "Family Fun Day", I know that First Tee, a Tennis Org and an ATV Org are setting up also

I have ideas on a few "learning stations" to set-up

I need HELP though, able bodied volunteers and more discs to use at these stations

I'm in Evan. I'll try to give you a call tonight. I have discs, baskets, and knowledge of working with individuals with special needs. What we need is pleanty of midranges/putters. I have some, but I gave almost all of my extras to Eric to use with his kids in Alma. I'll bring all that I have.

I am available all day if needed. Just let me know what I can do to help, and I will do it. But I will need to know what time to be there and what to bring.

at the present time, the parks is wanting us to look at going in the wood's circling the entire hill - this would mean removal of some holes to make room for new ones

imo its gonna have to go through a pretty good re-design for it to flow and most importantly be safe

hole 11's current moved tee going over 12's tee has disaster written all over it

there are lots of options and this could make for a very different than we currently have course

we still need to understand the new building and parking lots completely as their current plans still could change before construction of the new building is completed

Rain should be gone, and Bell Park drains well
