Is this legal?

Example: Your disc legally lands near a 14 inch wide stream. You mark up to a meter from the OB, but you straddle the stream to take your putting stance. Legal or not?

Poor OB area if it's only 14 inches wide. But straddling would be OK if no supporting point is touching OB at the point of release. Seems like an area should be at least one meter wide to ever be marked as OB.

First off, let's assume that the 14 inch stream has been declared OB (remember - water is not OB unless declared so). If all of your supporting points are in bounds, and your mark is within the 1 meter from OB range you are given, then it is a legal stance.

Of course, this also assumes that across the stream has not been declared as OB for this hole as well, as it is for some holes.

Streams around here are OB. There are no specific width requirements for a stream. Streams around here also dry up quickly this time of year and you will get narrow streams.

I made the straddle putt, btw.
