if you have a shot that requires a high throw that turns over and glides from it's highest point, but does not turn into a sky roller, what disc would you use?

and for that matter, what do you guys use for a sky roller?

Depending on distance and wind conditions...I would throw my putter under 350 for this shot as long as the wind was neutral or from the tail...if there was a little wind or I needed to go a little farther, I would throw my Meteor. Any longer than this and I would throw my least stable drivers (Monarch, wraith). If there was some cross or headwind I would probably throw a Teebird.

I know it may not be the answer you're looking for, but that application seems to be just made for an overhand Epic!

I would say a disc with a smaller wing will hold the turn most predictably. A disc with a wide wing may be tough to get at the right angle and if the nose is up it may never turn over or fade out way too soon. That's why beat up putters, midranges might be best. The Monarch is the best wide wing driver for this application I would say because it seems to hold a turn very deep into its flight. A beat teebird also a good idea. practice in an open field

XD for 200-275
Beat Up Roc for same D but windy
Valkyrie or Leopard for longer windy shots
Over 350 Beat in Beast or beat Wraith will get the job down
I only throw Innova so.......Other Brands dunno

Champ sidewinder, it handles the height pretty well. Otherwise meteor og just putter. As the others said, it depends on the distance.

The Gateway Assassin...I guarantee that the Assassin can get you the max D for what you are looking for. I use them for flat land drives and can get 400-450 ft easily on a sky anhyzer. Just don't get too much on it or anything will turn into a roller. I carry 5 different weights of the Assassin in my bag.

road runners for both 300-450
wizards for both <300

i assume you're talking about a hyzerflip, not an anhyzer? you said it should turn over at it's highest point, so i think that's what you mean.

i try to use really beat up discs for this type of shot, because they generally have less LSS.

for short to long distances, i use:

beat up ESP BUZZ
beat up PRO TL
beat up STAR WRAITH

lots of molds could be used, but they need to have a decent amount of glide and as little LSS as possible. the new wide rimmed stuff would probably not be so great

Champion Beast.

I have to make that shot often on courses that I play and the Beast always seems to prevent a roll away without ever performing an unexpected hyzer finish. I usually use it for those shots when they're 200 feet or less.

At the Gentleman's Club Challenge, hole 3/4 required a super high anhyzer, (because of mando) Lots of people would throw a Boss and it would start to flex out right as it hit the ground. I couldn't throw a shot that high though.

Depending on wind, I like to use a beat wizard, a beat dx shark, and sidewinders, roadrunners, and dx beat destroyer, or a dx wraith... A beat pro leapord, teebirds and tl's make good hyzerflip fairway drivers...

Sidewinder if there is enough room on the left side (RHBH). I aim 30 degrees (or so) left off the teepad, and it stays anhyzer the entire way and lands flat.

What discs do you use now for this shot and what happens?

i use a monarch for the long ones. i can get it to work, but was curious as to what others use for a distance shot that turns over from slight hyzer at the disc's highest point, and glides right for a long way.

I have to say I'm partial to the Leopard which I throw more than any other driver but a Sidewinder or Pro Starfire/SL could also fill that role for me.

you can throw a boss w/ hyzer high and get it to turnover and go right from it's highest point, holding that right turn?

I use a seasoned Valk or a Roadrunner for the high hyzer flip.

This is something that is fun, but very touchy. It is easy to stall it out OR get it turned too laterally and watch it go left to right without penetrating forward very much. I like the Wraith much better for the max D version of this shot. It turns slower and gets better forward penetration. These factors make it a lot less hit or miss.
